When Shunsui got to the store that morning afternoon, he found that the whole place had been decorated with streamers and colorful balloons (and glitter, there would always be glitter for these sorts of things) and a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY! banner hung over the counter, where a large birthday-themed cheesecake was sitting.

It was certainly not Shunsui's birthday today. A quick think back to that one space party informed him that it was not Summer-chan's birthday today, so he dared to venture to ask, "Apu-san? Is it your birthday today?"

Apu seemed incredibly insulted that Shunsui had to even ask that question (which seemed unfair, what did he expect, really?), and he gestured angrily toward the shop window and implored Shunsui to take a closer look.

"Ah," said Shunsui, with the tone of a man who almost wished he hadn't asked. "Well. I hope he wasn't expecting me to actually get him anything."

The fact that they even tolerated the cheese panda seemed to be gift enough.

Unlike some people, Summer did know whose birthday it was, which meant that she had a few leftovers of the cheese-themed (yes, you read that right) jello presentation she had made for the cheese panda earlier that day, so that should be fun for all the regulars to boggle at!

Sure, the panda had actually hated it, but the panda was very particular about his cheese, and he'd only gotten mildly violent about the whole thing, which said to Summer that he at the very least appreciated the thought, and, really, that was all she could hope for.

She did go pretty extra-classic on the 'normal' shots this week, though, to make up for it.

"Right," he said, once class was meant to begin. "So far our go-bag has one thing in it. Which, mind you, covers a lot. Stress reliever, disinfectant, accelerant, bribe. . . . Absolutely an important staple for Fandom life." He turned back to the classroom at large. "But it probably shouldn't be the only thing in there. What other kinds of weird shit have we seen around here? Faye mentioned the chocolate rivers messing up her upholstery. I did, in fact, find a guide for getting those stains out, for those who are curious. So maybe we should add dish soap and paper towels to our bag?"

He shrugged. "I don't know, folks, I'm making this up as I go along. The moose handed me this class and for once didn't throw in any weird animal friends. We're flying syllabus free, here. What do we want to have on hand for attack of the chocolate . . . whatever?"

The Devil's Nest, Wednesday Evening

Somehow it was Wednesday again. The vibe at the club was different tonight, though. And it probably had a lot to do with the playlist, which was not piano bar stuff or mellow jazz tonight. Oh no, they were going the hard rock route tonight, with some classics from the eighties and nineties.

It was a list Octavia had grabbed largely at random, based on faint recognition of at least some of the names. She was just... giving it a go.

Bringing something louder in here.
