Covent Garden Flowers; Tuesday [02/02].

Astrid had been working here long enough to know that they are about to be slammed with ridiculous Valentine's Day orders, but it seemed that the flood had yet to start, so she was going to enjoy this quiet pre-holiday day for what it was, not do any more work than necessary, and just sort of enjoy the serenity while she had it, though she was going to start making some more romantically themed postcards for the box.

She honestly kind of looked forward to the Valentine's Day orders, though. They kept her busy, she could get a little creative with some of them, but, most of all, they were her favorite kind of orders to sneak oleander into, though she doubted anyone ever even noticed.

By this point, Tisarwat was certain: the tangle of headphone wires had unquestionably grown larger, somehow. And she felt attempting to untangle them only exacerbated the growth, made it worse than before, which almost made her wonder if she should attempt to move the thing into the now unused basement apartment. She had a feeling that it would only continue to grow and thrive down there, but at least then it would be contained away from everything else in the store, and it would be something she would only have to worry about if it came time to actually rent the place out to someone.

If she didn't move it now, it would be too big to move later, and so that seemed to settle it. She would be sure to check up on it often, and probably have Troy do the same, but maybe, if it got big enough or sentient enough, she could actually start charging it rent...

"They're groundhogs," the baker was explaining, pointing at the highly stylized decorated cookies in the case. "With shadows. See? Like the one in Pennsylvania. He saw his shadow this morning. 6 more weeks of winter."

"If you say so," Stark said. He'd heard about Groundhog Day but it still didn't make any sense. "I'll take a box." He could always share extra cookies later.

"Yeah, it's weird." The baker nodded. "But made for fun decorating, you know? I think I killed it on those shadows."

"They're very nice," Stark assured her.

"Taste good too," she added brightly.

"I'm sure. Everything here does."

"How else would we get you to come back so often? You want a drink too?"


After he paid for the cookies and a tea, Stark found a seat near the door. The decorations on the cookies were, he had to admit, very well done. And they did taste good.

Kitty walked into the bar to find what looked like a party setup, complete with champagne and party hats.

"What's the occasion?" she asked.

Having been waiting for this, Tino excitedly unfurled a banner he'd hung up behind the bar that read "THE GROUNDHOG SAW ITS SHADOW."

"Nope," Kitty said. "We're not doing this "

"So the entire island appears to have gone daiquiri-crazy last week, except you went full margarita," Lucifer mused. "What's next?"

Tiny looked at him.

He looked back.

Tiny looked at him some more.

He looked back longer.

"Right," Lucifer said, "Caipirinha night it is, why not?"

He was going to get behind the piano and find something tropical but classy to play tonight.
