In addition to her usual tasks of inventory and ordering for the week, Summer was being presented with Apu's usual report for whatever she was away for a little bit of time, which included just a general overview of anything odd that had happened at the store, how certain events like the Cheese Panda's Birthday (was National Cheese Day the cheese panda's birthday? She didn't know enough about him to know for sure, but it seemed good enough for her; if it wasn't, it certainly would be now) had gone, and, of course, all of the reasons why Summer should consider firing Shunsui and Astrid.

She got about halfway through that part before just rolling her eyes.

"Okay, first off," she said, "and we've been over this multiple times, I can't actually fire Shunsui, because it's his store, he owns the place, it doesn't work like that. And secondly, I can definitely not fire Astrid for, quote, 'breathing too hard.'"

Apu clearly didn't appreciate this pessimistic, can't-do attitude from Summer and made a quick revision to the list, crossing out the too hard part.

"No," Summer was not impressed. "Not for that, either. Why don't you just go sweep something, okay? I have work to do."

She didn't really have that much work to do, but she'd definitely have more of it if she started firing people just for breathing.

Rosa had accepted a new job regarding a cold case from a few years ago on the mainland that involved a disgraced cop wanting to clear his name, but since it was a cold case, it wasn't like there was any rush on it, right? Her next step involved having to actually go and talk to someone about a few things, so naturally she was going to be putting that off and was instead watching an awful lot of old American Gladiators episodes and clips on YouTube.

What?

It was totally research for her class.

She did very important work around here.

Furnado Animal Shelter; Monday [06/07].

Sakaki's morning had started out busy, as she helped with a shipment of large bags of food that needed to go on the shelves and in the storage room. She was pretty strong, so it wasn't very difficult work, it was just very tiring, so when she was finished, she was happy to just rest and relax behind the counter and watch the pups and the kittens playing in the pen nearby.

Until one of the cats hopped up onto the counter in front of her.

Sakaki's heart started racing faster than it had with any amount of physical activity as she stared with wide-eyed disbelief. "Oh," she managed, "hello. Have...have you come to keep me company?"

The car's bright, playful eyes regarded her, tail swishing behind him, and he kept out a happy little meow. Encouraged by such a positive response, Sakaki lifted her hand to slowly offer it out, but she didn't get very far at all before the cat let out another cheerful meow and then leaped, like a missle, targeted to headbutt Sakaki right in the eye before tearing off.

Sakaki flinched back with a cry of surprise, fairly certain she could hear the cat giggling about the whole thing while she whimpered. It hadn't hurt too much. Most of the injury was to her pride, as she went to find the vet about getting her an ice pack for her new black eye.

And as she sat there now nursing her wounds, a small smile surfaced.

Because, sure, she'd been attacked, but...

...the cat had come to her this time!

Progress was clearly being made.

"Why would it be getting repetitive? It's not like people can buy it anywhere else."

Tino had been muttering objections to the special being the same as it had been for a couple of Mondays now. Not that Seivarden cared about his opinion, but at least it deserved a response, even if it was an obvious one.

She would probably have to ask Breq for another box soon, even though Monday evenings weren't particularly busy.

Monday: Covent Garden Flowers

Nell was a little sad to see that her favorite bonsai tree was gone. She'd loved that little one with the strong twisty branches. Hopefully it had gone to a good home.

She took a few extra moments to give the remaining bonsais a pep talk, then set about doing a little rearranging. She made a nice little alcove with the small trees around some of the more colorful plants so that it looked a bit like what she thought a fairy circle might look like. Being Fandom, she wouldn't even be surprised if some tiny fairy-like creatures showed up to inhabit it at some point.

Later when she had a little extra time she'd pull out some of the fairy lights stored in the back and string them around the trees.
