While it was always a good thing when a pet found a new home (however handwavey it may have ended up being), Sakaki found that she was going to miss Colonel Bahamutt, no matter how brief their companionship had been. However, he was but one puppy, in a pen full of puppies, and so clearly this was a sign that she needed to get to know all of them a little better.

And the puppies, at least, she knew wouldn't visciously attack her, since they didn't seem to have the same issue that the cats apparently did.

Of course, she'd gotten to know all of them at a surface level and had memorized all of their names weeks ago, but today felt like a good day to really get out there and socialize in the puppy pen, and the records had shown that it was actually Sugar's birthday, so it didn't take long for Sakaki to set her up properly with a party, providing all the other pups (and a few ferrets and hedgehogs and lizards that wanted to attend) with hats for the occasion.

She was just glad that the bakery in town could put together a puppy birthday cake on such short notice!

And she hoped she could, if needed, make a convincing appeal to the vet on why puppy birthdays were an important part of her veterinary training if it came to that, too.

A Monday in the office seemed to be in the cards for Rosa that day, after spending most of her week on a case up in Brooklyn and following a few leads here and there, compiling evidence and even a few testimonials (her favorite). But now that the evidence was compiled, it was time to start going through it all, which meant a lot of combing and boring footage interpresed with maybe a few little sparks of inspiration or helpful information few and far between.

Some things just weren't adding up the way they should, and there may have been a few times where, after rubbing her eyes and refreshing her coffee, she sat back down and caught a glimpse of a math textbook on her desk (which she would deny she had anything to do with, it was clearly a weird Fandom thing, clearly), narrowed her eyes at it speculatively, and then considered what kind of story problem could be built out of some of her evidence.

Was it cheating to just try to use your class as a way to crack some mysteries? Or was it just being resourceful?

The point was kind of moot, anyway; not a lot of this stuff really translated well into math problems. It wasn't like she was dealing with someone just stealing forty cakes, or something...

There was a strange orange vegetable in the window of the shop that Din sure as heck hadn't put there.

Plus side was that the kid was now using it as a canvass to paint on. Probably Sabine's lingering influence on the place. But it was a good distraction.

"That just seems sort of unsafe," Annie commented to Tiny, eyeing the axe range-slash-stage situation. "And redundant since Caritas has a stage."

Tiny shrugged one massive shoulder, turning away from her because guess who hadn't missed his shifts with the Nest's chattiest blonde?

"Oh, man, are we gonna have karaoke here?" No response. "Tiny, if we do karaoke, we have to do a duet."

Oh, and now he was walking away from her.

"Maybe 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart'!" Annie called after him, grabbing a glass to pour herself a shift beer. "Or 'Summer Nights'! Tell me more, tell me more, Tiny!"

Okay, so, maybe she knew he didn't like her. Maybe she was doing this on purpose, now.

Dwight had spent the morning at the shop taking care of a few things and keeping busy. As afternoon came, he found himself getting a little restless and so he headed out for a bit and ended up a short time later sitting down with a rather impressive looking sundae at the Chilly Boulder.

While he enjoyed his thankfully pumpkin spice free treat, he fiddled with the new phone he had recently gotten. Dwight was admittedly not the most tech savy person but he could manage... until it turned out that a lot can happen witch techy stuff when you suddenly lose 10 years thanks to messy island time shenanigans.

[ open post to chat or laugh at Dwight for having a 'dad' moment with his technology XD ]

"No, ma'am," Steve was saying into the phone. He'd been on this call now for ten minutes and the Bee Lady was no closer to telling him what her problem was than when he'd picked up. "Yes, ma'am. No, ma'am."

The Troopers were very excited that their morning calisthenics were indefinitely delayed.

The Trooper Station was open, if confused.

Thank fuck, Eliot and Margo were moving out of the weird botany apartment. It was a place just down the street, not too far away from the spa, exactly the way Margo liked it. It was a minor victory in the middle of a metric ton of shit, but she’d take it.

She spent the morning in the store, getting the last of the paperwork together. Humming a song under her breath, so softly anyone would have a hard time figuring out what 80s rock power ballad it really was.

She liked it that way.

Was it too early to pick out curtains? She’d been around the island for a while now, she had no reason to trust anybody’s taste in curtains.

Nell was here, but for some reason she hadn't slept well last night. She got through her day's work in a bit of a fog, but she didn't have much energy to do anything beyond what she had to. The plants were a bit disappointed to not get any extra attention, but she promised them that next week would be better.
