At first, when the stereo decided to start in on that Spooky Scary Skeleton song like it was ready to just get comfortable and sit on it all day, Troy was so ready to just pull the plug, but then it realized it was playing a remix, and...

...okay. Okay. This was fine. He could definitely let it stick around at least until the beat dropped, and, by then, he was actually kind of invested in it, and it could stay.

So long as it didn't mean there was going to actually be any spooky scary skeletons marching in through the store and, like, trying to play xylophone on their ribs or something. Troy could not handle that today...or any day, for that matter.

"Welcome back, everyone," Ignis greeted the class with a faint smile as they were back in the cooking classroom at the community center, and they seemed to have done a marvelous job of getting all the smoke out of it from last time. "I do hope you all were able to enjoy some of the wide variety of culinary options available to us on our trip to Boston. If there was ever an excuse to lean heavily into reason why not to bother with cooking for yourself, a visit to a city rich with its own food culture is an excellent one.

"If there was anything you had on the trip that you might actually be interested in exploring here in this class, please let me know, because I would love to touch on a few things if the interest is there. But, for today, I thought perhaps I might focus a bit on the outdoors aspect that was frequent throughout the iternerary. Of course, there is a wide variety of packaged products that one might purchase to suppliment their susitence while out on a trail or camping or somehting like that, but, at the same time, it can be incredibly easy to make your own if you have the time and the foresight to prepare them. Which is why today, I'd like us to look into some hearty snacks perfect for the trail or even just while noshing a bit at home. So, today, we'll be exploring the versatility and ease of homemade granola, as well as some other easy-to-travel-with treats, including a way to make your own jerky, as well as bar that requires no baking."

Because he'd worked with you three enough to know that if heat could be avoided, they'd likely be much better off.

"Without further ado, then," he said, "let's get started."

... well.

Of all the many impulse decisions Steph Gingrich had ever made in her life, taking over the management of the game store on a crazy island that seemed to be some kind of 5-million way intersection between timelines and realities, like a concept out of one of the more sci-fi leaning fantasy worlds she'd come up with, was... probably the most her thing ever, to be honest. But it also had no competition whatsoever for the title of Steph's Wildest Split-Second Choices.

Apparently she was going to be sticking around for a while, which was fine. She'd found out about Portalocity yesterday, which made it an easy choice because why just travel the world, singular, when she could travel worlds, infinitely multiple, in way less time? She still had to ICly figure out a place to live (ideally where she had room for her drums), but the office here had a couch if she didn't feel like sleeping in the van.

So here she was, putting up handmade signs on parchment (not real parchment, just paper she'd fake-aged with tea) that read:

"The Android's Dungeon is now the MAGPIE EMPORIUM!
Still Fandom's one-stop shop for all your geeky needs.
(Special orders available upon request!)

Ethan was going to get so many pictures once the new sign outside was installed. This was kind of a shoutout to him, after all.

The shop was open for business as usual, its bemused but eager new manager darting around from place to place with a notebook in hand to jot down ideas and sketch out new floor plans. There was the gaming area to redesign, reorganizing store orders to make the gaming stuff top priority, figuring out how to repurpose shelves and displays... yeah, Steph was in full creative whirlwind mode.

Oh, and importantly, she had to make sure there was a nice spot cleared out at the front desk so she could set up her laptop, because the absolute second the store closed at 10 tonight and she flipped that Open sign on the door around, she was going to park herself in front of her laptop, log in to Twitch, and not move for the next four or five hours. The brand-new campaign of her favorite D&D stream (the one with the nerdy-ass voice actors) was starting tonight and there was no way in hell Steph was going to miss it for anything. (She was playing catch-up on the second campaign now because of her whole two-year time jump. Wild.)

Seriously, she had snacks stockpiled and everything. In case you wondered whether the new manager knew her products.

[OOC: ... yeah so I was going to wait on this until next week and then I realized I had to do it today. Bring on the new Campaign 3 bunch of idiots, Critical Role, I'm ready! I still miss the Mighty Nein though. Anyway, the store is open, and as usual SP is definitely a thing.]

So, Annie had spent the better part of a week as an energetic, friendly, blonde...dog. And while it hadn't been the worst (given that her personality aligned much better to 'golden retriever' than it had to, say, bat), she was still working on getting somewhat back in the swing of normal human things.

Like doing a normal human workout! And going to get normal, human coffee (with normal, human pumpkin spice in it.)

"So do you only give cups of whipped cream to dogs?" she asked the barista curiously, just, like, wondering.

And now she was going to go to a table with her coffee, chagrined by the look the barista gave her and not even bothering to go ahead and ask outright for a puppaccino for her normal, human self.

Even if it sounded really good, okay? This was probably more appropriate to sip on as she flicked through Citizen Starlight footage with one earbud in, anyway.

(And maybe she could make up with it by just ingesting straight whipped cream at home later, with only Diego to judge.)

Well, the bar was basically back to the way it was before it fell into a raccoon hole, barring changes in paint color and an inexplicable increase in Cup Noodle flavored sodas.

Eric would take it.

The "LEATHER PANTS THURSDAY" sign was up on the bar, Eric was wearing his most flattering pair, and Tiny was behind the bar. Fully clothed.

The Devil's Nest was open!

So. Lucifer had questioned how fulfilling running a diner could be, last week. And it had lived in Duke's head, rent free, ever since.

Which might explain why he shoved his cook aside in the kitchen today, throwing himself into chopping fresh fall vegetables straight from the farm and searing thick, juicy salmon fillets.

"Ha. I am so totally fulfilled," he muttered. And glanced over his shoulder to see his staff all standing there, watching him and muttering. "Are you kidding me over there? Get back to work!"

Today's specials
CATCH OF THE DAY!
Seared salmon with fall vegetables and apple brown-butter dressing

Luke's was open and ocd free.

Okay, okay, even Margo needed to take a break from working on a way out. If only so she could handle the fucking ton of party planning still left to do. She’d gone on another booze run in the morning, checked on the canapes, got the right dress, and now she was back at the store.

Going through inventory.

Because she was using some of this shit to make sure the scents were right at the party, and the storage room was a great place to practice her firefly spell.

Was she paying actual attention to customers as she flitted from storage room to counter and back? Nah. Priorities, she had ’em, come admire ’em and weep.

Liz had been checking in on her emails that morning and had noticed that she had one from Hellboy who had told her that one of his cats had had kittens and had sent a lot of photos and another cat had gotten into Agent Manning’s quarters and he had made sure to include the aftermath of that as well. Agent Manning had not been impressed, and indeed there was a photo of him scowling and it looked like he had been mid yelling at Hellboy when the photo had been taken. Apparently things hadn’t changed at the BPRD in the couple of weeks that she had been gone.

So Liz was alternating between responding to emails and was taking photos of the store, which she supposed was rather ironic, so she could send back to Hellboy so he could see the Photo Hut and how she was settling in back at Fandom.

The week in Boston and that day spent at the sea had reminded Alara that she didn’t get to the beach nearly enough these days and it was one of the places that she loved going to back home on Xelaya.

It wasn’t really the time of year for the beach but she still decided to head down after class to go for a walk along the beach for a change in her routine.
