Groovy Tunes; Tuesday [11/09].

Things were pretty quiet in the store that day....things were usually pretty quiet in the store, and, really, around here, Tisarwat was going to count that as a very, very good thing. She only had a few managerial tasks to take care of and she got them out of the way swiftly, because she was kind of feeling compelled to spend the rest of her shift getting back to picking at a guitar to spill the space in between customers.

She hadn't been practicing as much as she probably should have, but it didn't take her long to get warmed up and to start experimenting around with some riffs. As far as instruments being played so intimately with one's hands, the guitar almost seemed a little more obscene than the piana, but there was still something about it that she enjoyed, so she kept at it.

Not that she ever expected guitar would be a skill that would ever actually be useful if she ever managed to get back to the Radch to stay, but who knew? A bizarre and quirky talent like that could make for an interesting stir back home, and, if anything, she was certain that Breq could only appreciate more musical knowledge among her crew.

And a guitar could definitely be loud enough to cover up some of her singing...

Tuesday- Surf's Up Shop

 It had been a hectic few days as Billy finished getting things moved  into the apartment. So hectic in fact he had not realized that he had mail, somehow, waiting for him to pick up until a the stack had appeared outside the door of his apartment.

Most of it was typical junk mail but there was one that was addressed specifically to him, "Billy C.", rather than simply 'occupant'. Opening the letter Billy was only left with more questions.  Inside was a typed letter welcoming him to the island and apologizing for it taking so long to get this letter sent. It went on to say that he had also been given one of the shops in town as his own. In the envelop was a single key with a small  tag on it that read "Surf's Up." There was nothing else helpful in the letter other than well wishes for success with the shop and a wonderful stay in Fandom. 

Making it way from the apartment, Billy finally made his way to the far side of the island and found the shop. He hadn't spent much time on that side of the island so it took a little searching but there it was. A fairly run down looking shop that looked like it had barely been open at al that season. Billy stood there for a moment, trying to make sense of it all, finally unlocking the door and walking into the shop.

"Well.... this is going to be fun" he muttered to himself.

Fandom Fire Station | Tuesday

Today Buck was spending his shift figuring out how to work the Portalocity app, and then booking a portal to go home for Thanksgiving. Then after all that he needed to figure out something to tell people who would inevitably offer to pick him up from the airport because explaining portals was not an option.

Magic Box | Tuesday

Wanda was multitasking again today. At the register of the store she was quietly drinking a peppermint mocha and messing around on her phone. In the back, her astral projection was dressed very dramatically and going through the Darkhold.

She still wasn't quite used to it, but she was getting better at splitting her concentration.

The Perk, Tuesday

Jon hadn't been having a good couple weeks for...well, nourishment. He'd strained himself yesterday trying to know something for Eliot. And today's class was going to be about the Lonely, which was never a good thing. So he was here at the coffee shop for tea. And a cinnamon scone, because he thought he'd give the comfort food thing a try. At worst, he'd have actual human food in him, so it was worth a try.

Then he'd just sit at a table with his phone and watch cat videos.

Community Center Class: Making The World A Better Place (Tuesday Evening)

"Wheels up, people!" Yang hollered cheerfully as she ushered them through the portal this week. "This time, literally!"

"Meals on Wheels is a program that brings pre-made meals to senior citizens who are for one reason or another in need of help with meals. They provide nutritious meals, a quick safety check and much-needed human connection to homebound seniors. In some communities, additional services that keep seniors healthy and safe are also offered, like pet food delivery, senior center meal programs, home repair services and transportation. Each local program works with its own community’s needs and resources to provide a community-specific solution."

"Yes, this is a volunteer gig, not a standard social service provided by the government." Yang shook her head in dismay. "Sometimes, Earth really sucks, which we're isolated from in Fandom. We might have large apocalypses, but for people outside Fandom, sometimes every day is a crisis."

"The reality is that over nine million seniors in America struggle with hunger, fifteen million live in isolation, and eighteen million live in or near poverty. So today, we're going to try and do our best to help out a little bit."

The Devil's Nest, Tuesday Night

"So tell me, Tiny, what do you think will happen when you die?" Lucifer asked.

He got a blank stare.

"Oh, come on. Surely you've thought about it!"

Tiny picked up an empty glass and started scrubbing at it.

"Humor me!"

Nothing.

Lucifer sighed and turned back towards the axe range. It was covered in fabric. Not out of spite, he just needed to pick some swatches for his new club and he was having a Devil of a time doing it.

The Photo Hut - Tuesday

Liz was looking forward to the colder weather settling in and winter approaching, winter was her favourite season and getting to wear cozy sweaters with leather pants was one of her favourite things to do. She was wearing one of her favourite sweaters today and it was making her happy as she headed downstairs and opened the store for the day.

She was also hopeful about getting to hang out with Prompto again, yes the potential cat playdate was for Rain’s benefit since she hadn’t had a chance to interact with other cats since they had moved to Fandom but there was also the added bonus that she got to spend more time with Prompto and she was really enjoying spending time with him.

For today’s shift she was looking up daguerreotypes and researching how much it would cost to order in cameras and equipment and some of these were rather expensive. The day to day running of the store was her responsibility but she felt that since Professor Bruttenholm was the financial backer of the store that she should get his advice before she committed to buying any type of equipment for this type of camera so she wrote him an email to see what he had to say.
