drumsticksandd20s: (Worried)
[personal profile] drumsticksandd20s
Yeah, yeah, traditional industry conventions held that new comic book day was supposed to be Wednesday, but some independent creators didn't adhere to that! Or were subject to the whims of local copy-print shops and shipping service delays. Whatever. The point was that the package Charlotte had sent last week had finally arrived (there was something about snails at the post office involved or something, if Steph had been hearing that right) and a new issue of Ethan's Thaynor the Monster Slayer was on the shelf in the comics room, where it had a permanent space in the Indie Spotlight section.

There was also a new sign up in the front window:

Hey! Wanna be a semi-professional geek?
The Magpie Emporium is now hiring!
Inquire within!
Previous adventuring experience a bonus, but not required.

As for Steph, she was --

"Wait, what do you mean it's been delayed again?"

-- glaring at the email telling her that her preordered statue of the badass monk chick from her favorite actual play stream wasn't going to be arriving this month after all, like the glaring was going to fix it.

[OOC: Yep. Totally Steph's preorder, and not mine. SIGH. I'll be in and out a bit today but the shop and post are open! Feel free to poke me OOCly, or just pop in IC, if your character wants a job.]

Troy really shouldn't have been surprised, once he realized what the day actually was, that the stereo at the store was very insistent on only playing Dropkick Murphys, Celtic Woman, U2, and the Corrs today, and yet....

...he did kind of wish the mystery of who kept pinching him was just as easily solved as the reason for the musical selection today, though, especially when it kept happening, even after insisting that his underwear was green, he swore! And he wasn't going to be afraid to prove it!

Well, actually, he kind of hoped that he didn't get called on that bluff, because he knew they were red.

But maybe if he pretended to be colorblind?

It might be worth a shot.

Of course Laszlo had no idea it was St. Patrick's Day -- but if he did realize it over the course of the evening, he'd be thrilled. Humans got so drunk on St. Patrick's Day, and it made them so easy to hunt, eat, and kill.

Perhaps a visit to the mainland would be in order, if he clued in before then.

Specials
A Nice Stout

That was a coincidence. Laszlo wouldn't know a stout from a lager from an ale.

True to what she'd promised yesterday, Annie had basically just ripped off -- borrowed inspiration from, whatever -- Summer's specials. But also true to what she'd promised, there was no jello near any of this. (It would have been a disaster if she'd tried, anyway. Annie for sure did not have the patience necessary for making jello shots.)

The one deviation that Annie had come up with totally originally was, of course, the pitchers of bright green beer she had up on the bar, which she would gladly pour for anyone who wanted to pay $4 a green Bud Light for some reason.

~*St. Paddy's Day Specials*~
Green Beer!!!
Guinness
Shamrock Shooters
Bailey's Mint Martini
Nutty Irishman
Pot of Gold

And just in case that wasn't festive enough for you, Annie had arrived in style, complete with earrings where she normally would be sporting her standard hoops. And don't be jealous, friends -- she had hats in case you needed to Irish-up your ensemble a bit.

Miguel looked around warily as he approached the barista, as if something might be lurking. Then he eyed her. "Your coffee isn't green today, is it?"

After being assured that it wasn't (unless he wanted a matcha latte? no he did not), he got a large cappuccino (hey, variety!) and a cinnamon roll and sat down to enjoy them.

With his back to the wall.

And no, he was not wearing green. His shirt was, in fact, red. (He'd debated orange, but decided he wasn't quite that committed.)

Look, when your name was O'Hara, you kind of grew up hating the holiday even if you didn't hate the man who gave it to you. Or maybe that was just him and too many pranks when he'd been in school.

[Open Perk! This is what you get when I realize I've got an O'Hara in the game. Chag Purim sameach!]

The shop was finally starting to look a little less empty and more like a shop. There were things inside at least. Mostly boxes he was still trying to unload. And he was still trying to figure out how the hell to set up and organize things. But look, he was doing his best here ok?

He had a couple of surfboards already leading against the wall since he had no idea where to put those to display at the moment and he had just finished putting a few new shelves together and was beginning to unpack some boxes.

It was a work in progress ok? He might even have it all ready for when the weather finally turned warm and stayed warm!

(Shop -such as it is- is open!)

Anyone who showed up today might be surprised to see Yang sporting a number of visible bruises and the remains of a black eye.

Surprising, since she was both mostly-invulnerable and healed faster than an average human.

"Sorry I missed last week. I had to have a discussion with some people back home." Bandits. Yang had absolutely been beating the shit out of some bandits for a lead.

"Today, we're going to check out a suuuuuuuuuuuuuper-common type of terrain: the prairie," she said, leading the way to the portal.

we're going on a trip! )"Okay team, roll out!"

Liz didn’t feel too bad, considering that she had been out drinking and singing karaoke at the bar last night. She was glad she had ended up doing that though, even if she had been nervous about the idea at first. It had felt weird going out and being that social again but maybe it was something that she could start to do more often, now that she had started being a bit more social.

She was glad to find that she didn’t have too much work to finish that morning, so she was focusing on finishing up some general admin tasks and responding to a few emails and being able to take it easy for a few hours.
