pocketpretzels: (rolling up sleeves)

Watts was not at his desk today. Or rather, he wasn't at his desk for longer than five minutes at a time. He was, instead, pacing all about the station and generally being a nuisance. One moment, he'd be getting a glass of water, and then the next, he'd have tripped over something and be sending Ralph to the supply closet to get a mop. Then he was cataloging evidence in the evidence room (why did they even have an evidence room? why did they even have evidence?) and noticing an entire box from 2012 had been mislabeled, so Hugo was tasked with correcting everything there. That sort of thing.

The Trooper Station is open, and occupying itself with all sorts of busywork.

Graham didn't have any guests coming this weekend--his mother couldn't make the journey, his sisters were all too busy, and his best friend was already here with him!--but he figured some of his players probably did (if not all of them!), so he figured he'd call off tonight's game so they could have more time with their friends and family. In the spirit of the weekend, though, he definitely brought Triumph with him to the shop that day, so they could hang out in the meantime, and he tried to get Saffron involved by sharing some stories with Triumph about all their various shop-related exploits, but she only seemed interested in Triumph when he was laying still on the floor enough that she could climb up on him and curl up and take a nap.

Triumph, of course, didn't mind, and Graham was tempted to join them by leaning on Triumph, which was one of his most favorite, most comfortable positions ever, but he was here to work, and so the Triumph-cushion would just have to wait. He was glad Saffron could get good use out of it in the meantime, though!

That morning, the class would have gotten an email/text letting them know there was no class that day. While Dwight was not expecting anyone for the weekend he didn't know if anyone else would so he figured giving everyone the day off might just be better. So, enjoy the day off, and good luck with any family/friends/enemies that you have coming for the weekend!

Raiden was hoping to get away from the restaurant for a bit to go find his brothers at the picnic (and eat picnic food), but he wanted to make sure everything was running smoothly first, because some of the visitors might want pizza. Comfort food was important after a shock to the system like some of them were going to get, after all.

It was Parent's Weekend again, and like last time, Dwight wasn't expecting to have anyone. And that was fine. There really weren't many people he would want to have show up anyways, so it was for the best really.

He was looking forward to a day to work around the shop, finish up a project or two, and maybe head over to the welcome picnic at some point later in the day. He was a bit curious to see who else might have someone visiting and he made a note to at least track down Miguel to see if anyone had shown up for him.

But with a quick sign out by the door letting people know the shop was open, Dwight headed back inside and settled down at the work bench.

(Expecting one later but post is open!)

The bowling balls were back to normal, though the scent of old pumpkin still lingered in the air. At least it covered up the lingering smell of weed in case any of the teens' parents came in to see where their kids worked.

Rey felt so much better having her friends around. She could either stay on her ship or have everyone at her giant apartment that wouldn't feel so quiet now, she felt better than she had in weeks.

And while she let Poe and Rose off on their own for a bit, she wanted to bring Finn in here and have him see what it was she did. "Just wait until you see the weather on the course," she said.

As the staff was putting the final touches of autumnal decor on the lobby, loud repetitive banging noises came from the storage closet behind the front desk, stopping everyone in their tracks. One of the maids grabbed a coffee pot, another grabbed a broom, and Gunther scurried off to the kitchen, returning with a rolling pin. After all, they had seen one too many gremlins fall asleep in that closet and wake up feeling bitey. So they waited, prepared to strike, as the closet door swung open and a disheveled Mary rolled out onto the lobby floor.

"It took me a while, but I finally found the 'Happy New Year!' banner… Hey, what's with all the pumpkins?"

The Arms Hotel is open.

It was one of those insufferably nice seasonal afternoons, the type Fandom only broke out for major events: the temperature was charmingly brisk, the trees an autumnal red-and-yellow, and birds sang their merry fall songs in the trees - when they weren't tussling with the squirrels.

A glittery banner hung over the entrance to the park, drawing in all newcomers:

Welcome to Parents' Weekend 2022!

Welcome, friends, family, and other hangers-on! We're glad to see you! As far as you know!

It was Parents Weekend again, but Travis had no reason to expect any visitors for himself this year, since he never had any the previous years. So he was sticking around the station, taking the time to look over the hoses and make sure they weren't getting dry rot or anything sitting idle like they did most of the time.

It wasn't much, but it was honest work.

"You know it's a bit late to be doing 80s requests, Tiny," Lucifer sighed, settled as he was behind the piano. But Tiny had been good recently, he supposed. No weird shenanigans (that had inconvenienced Lucifer himself), no blockades, no consorting with that moron from Caritas.

"But since it's Kate Bush," he continued, "I suppose I'll give in this time."

And then maybe throw in a bit of darker New Wave afterward, in case Duke decided to stop by.

Well, Running Up That Hill it was, belated in multiple ways or not. Lucifer sipped his drink and set his fingers to the keys.
