drumsticksandd20s: (Yikes)

Steph, in a move that she'd been considering for a while but had still managed to make come off as kind of impulsive, had started off the year with a trip to Ink 'n' Holes yesterday and was moving a little bit gingerly today as a result.

Naturally there would be a whole load of new stock coming in first thing in the morning that all needed to be taken into the storage room and inventoried. Because of course she would have a bunch of sharp-cornered boxes to wrangle exactly when she had to be careful to avoid accidentally bumping into said sharp corners, and honestly? She should've taken that into account when she booked the appointment, so oops.

The gremlins had apparently thrown their own New Year's party in here, judging from the amount of glitter and confetti that Little Bot was busy cleaning up, but since there was no damage to any of the merchandise Steph wasn't going to get on their case about it.

[OOC: Open! SP will definitely be a thing.]

Coming back to Fandom after going home to Letterkenny for the break had been incredibly difficult for Stewart, to the point where he almost didn't want to. To the point where he'd questioned why he'd even bothered. His time there hadn't been bad by any margin of the word, but it had been different and challenging in ways he wasn't used to and, most of all, lonely, something that always sort of lingered there under the skin but became this heavy, palpable thing when he realized how less lonely he was back home. Hanging out in the basement with Roald (and Connor and Darien). The Christmas party at the farm, where Wayne actually got him school supplies and Katy told him she was actually proud of him. Reconnecting with Aly-cat and Bianca-Donk for New Years in the city, and finding out that Gae, of all people, had actually been asking about him. It had been a good couple of weeks, and the only thing that prevented him from pulling out for good and staying was that inevitable look of disappointment on Katy's face if he did.

Unbelievable, what that face could do. Unprecedented. Unrelenting.

Besides, it was the first Thursday of the month. It was the first Thursday of the year. And Katy had thought it was cool that he was getting into his music again, and doing something that involved bringing people into it. So he was back, and he was here, and he went almost straight to the shop to get things set up for that evening, even though every fiber of him wished he was still back in Letterkenny.

But the show must go on. And if he was going to breech an attempt to reach out to Gae, it was not going to be from some darkened corner on a sagging couch in his mom's basement.

"I'm not sure if we actually have the space to house a concert that big," Jesse said delicately, letting the phone rest against her shoulder as she gestured helplessly at her assistant. "Yes, I know he's a very important chimpanzee. Yes. I know. Yes. I know. But Baltimore has larger..."

She waved helplessly. Her assistant shoved a notepad in her direction. She grabbed a pen.

"... Okay, so how do you feel about IKEA?"

Just another day in the office.

Well, now, Boc had gone and made a fine mess out of that yarn of his, hadn't he? So much so that he was camped out in front of the counter rather than on top of it, shaking his head and regretting his foolish ambitions. He should have just put them to rest! A scarf should have been more straight forward than a hat, but, alas, he'd gotten it into his mind to try and knit a pattern of leaves and rowa fruit into his, and he was...

...well, that was what he got for being confident in his abilities he supposed, as he sighed and set to the task of undoing his work to try again with fewer tangles or mistakes.

At this point, he might actually be glad for a customer, if only to distract him from his mess of a scarf.

Might.

It was Thursday, which meant it was time for Supper Club! This week brought them at last to Cafe Fina, where Lydia did hope no one would find it too strange to eat from the singing, dancing tableware. Herself, she was rather looking forward to seeing the number they'd been rehearsing when she'd popped by to make the reservation.

Cafe Fina is open! Welcome to Supper Club, everyone!

Thor was back behind the bar at the Devil's Nest, which meant that, difficult as it had been to keep track of days lately, it must be Thursday.

Tiny might be among those who had struggling, because he looked surprised to see him, but then again, maybe that was just Tiny's face.

Specials
Snowshoe Grog
Hot Toddy
Corpse Reviver No. 1

Thor had expressed some concerns about that last one, but was assured it was for those still afflicted with festive hangovers, and couldn't actually raise the dead. Probably.

The Devil's Nest is open and not involved in necromancy! Probably.

The Starbucks in the Stark Industries lobby had been disturbingly quiet all week. Yelena had initially assumed they’d wandered off and would show up again after the holiday. However, when she came into the office the Starbucks was empty. And there was no one to make her a peppermint mocha.

This would not stand.

She eventually tracked them down in the upper-level air vents. Grabbing a crowbar, she pried open one of the vent covers and climbed inside, muttering curses under her breath.

When she reached the source of the disturbance, Yelena stopped in her tracks, staring at the chaos before her.

The gremlins had converted a section of the vents into an "experimental beverage lab." Espresso machines sat wired together with glowing blue cables that had definitely been scavenged from Tony Stark’s tech. In the middle of it all was a bubbling cauldron-like contraption, filled with an ominous liquid that gave off a sickly sweet aroma.

Yelena cleared her throat loudly, making them freeze in place. All heads turned to her, wide-eyed and guilty.

“What. Is. This?” she asked, gesturing at the cauldron. None of them replied, of course. They only stared at her.

She crossed her arms and glared. “You’ve been hiding up here all week, leaving the lobby Starbucks to rot, and for this? I had to crawl through vents to find you. Look at my cool outfit! I'm a mess!”

One of the gremlins hesitantly held up a glowing cup of the concoction, offering it to her as if that would explain everything.

"I am not drinking that." she barked, pointing at the lab with her free hand. “Pack all this up and get it back to the lobby. Now.”

An hour later, the gremlins were back in their Starbucks with Yelena off to the side watching their every move.

It felt odd to be back to work after the holiday haze, but Adrian had always felt better being industrious, so today he'd set himself the task of gathering up any remaining holiday-influenced merchandise and making a clearance display to help sell them off faster. And once that was finished, he started drawing up plans for Valentine's Day stock. That had to be a thing for cosmetics, right?

It had been really nice celebrating the holidays with her family and Liz had enjoyed the past week off. She still had some work left that she had to finish off from the end of the year but once those reports were finished, she was focused on setting up the new spreadsheets and reports for the new month. There was quite a bit of work that she had to do so it was keeping her quite busy through the morning.
