Michael yawned and stretched and settled down behind the counter. It had been a long week, and it wasn't even reached its middle yet.

((Ooc: Slow-play til evening 'cause, y'know, work. That thing that pays for my home internet access.))

Tuesday morning, Aziraphale slips into the shop, checks be certain everything is in order, and puts out the 'Open' sign.

[ooc: Slowply liek woah until evening EST, unless an employee jumps in to help out.]

[ooc: Err to help the timeline a little the immediate events here happen before Phale opens the shop, for obvious reasons! Also the Clinic is not officially opened yet but there are some mice stirring about. Will set up OCD threads shortly for said mice. :D]

It had been a good night and Wilson had slept well, only hoping that Phale had also found a peaceful rest.

The young doctor was used to being up relatively early, especially when he had a patient to look in on and he would need to check on Yazoo so he began to stir not too long after the first few rays of dawn insisted on weasling their way through the blinds and into his eyes.

"Bright light...bright light..." He grumbled, in very much the same tone he'd used the morning when they'd shared a room at the B&B. Though Wilson had trained himself to be a morning person by necessity, he wasn't usually chipper, until after his first few cups of rocket fuel.

Adminy Thing

A few adminy things to start off our day. I use some strong wording but if you are insulted by them, I would ask that you take a moment and ask yourself why you are. Because if you stop and listen to what I’m saying with no judgment, you’ll know what I’m saying is only right and fair.

1 – I’ve updated the Townie Directory. Make sure to check it for accuracy. I’m sure I’ve forgotten something. Comment here for changes. And Townies…PLEASE make sure your bio information is up to date. I can’t make accurate changes if you don’t have them either.

If your business has been removed and want to keep it active, email me. I’ve tried to clean up those businesses that frankly, aren’t even getting opened. If I haven’t seen you around, it got closed or taken over. Email me and let’s talk.

2 – I’m opening up the applications for Townies but with a few provisos that I would appreciate newcomers keeping in mind.

a) Townies applying for a business. I realize you might have the coolest idea for a character EVAR but stop and think for just a minute and hear what I’m going to say.

Unusual and unique businesses take longer to get off the ground in town. Let’s face it. Only a handful of students or teachers come in to town and interact, they mostly stick to the campus. If they haven’t come in now, they most likely won’t come in at all, so a ‘cool’ business idea won’t pull them in any faster. It’s a fact of this townie life.

For your Townie characters and businesses, think socially, not business-wise.

Also, don’t bring a character in with the express purpose of interacting with only a subset of other characters/players. That doesn’t work and it severely limits your options to play, especially if those characters/players don’t ever come off of campus TO interact, since Townies aren’t allowed free rein on campus.

b) Please please PLEASE keep this in mind. If you plop your ass business down and just make an entry every day that you’re open, you aren’t going to get a lot of interaction. Others have a difficult time of coming up with reasons to go into stores to interact unless you have a general business that sells general things. So…

The best way to get interaction is to GET OUT OF THE STORE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE AND INTERACT WITH OTHERS. I’m not shouting, I promise. I’m emphasizing. People are not always going to come to you; you will HAVE to go to them. This is not real life. It’s not going to kill your business to close up for half an hour and go down to the Park/Perk/the Pub/Caritas/Emporium/Sanctity/the local library/Phale’s Rare Books/Deb’s wherever to meet/greet and talk with others. Time is a bit fluid in Fandom. You can still have your store front open and have an interaction going on there and then step out to interact with someone else as long as you are mindful of the times the interactions are going on.

c) And this one is important so pay attention. Do NOT apply to be a Townie with the express purposes of waiting around for the next open enrollment for [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh. There is NO comm jumping. If you put your character in Fandom Town, that is where they will stay. What very very VERY few exceptions that have been made have been on a case by case basis and determinate on what the circumstances were and the timing (as in before the rule was added to the game rules).

Besides, I won’t deny it, it’s insulting. We are being used as your way in and once you are, we aren’t interesting enough for you to stick around? So if you apply as a townie, plan on sticking around as a townie.

We’re a slow game comm and we have a few active players. But we are busting our hump to build something and to use it as a launch pad into something else is not fair to us. We want to play too, we just don’t want to play strictly students or teachers. Every campus needs a town to support it and that’s what we are trying to do. Don’t demean our efforts.

Another addendum to this…if you find your character isn’t working out on campus, you can’t jump to townies so your character isn’t lost to the game. I’ve found almost every character that’s made the jump hasn’t been active. Townies isn’t a place holder for whenever you have ‘time’ to play. Have the balls to just pull your character from the game if you don’t have ‘time’. It’s a shame I’ve had to turn away really good players who I know would have been great additions to the town because this was being abused and as a result, a rule was instituted game wide.

Again, my apologies if I come off sounding brusk but these things have been a problem in the past and have resulted in harsher rules that should be necessary. Please understand my frustration. I’m trying desperately to build a good town that is fun to play in.

All that said, applications for new townies and businesses are being accepted and will stay open until January 31, 2006.

Now I’m going to take a muscle relaxer and try to get some work done.

The Perk: Noon-ish

Jake wandered into the Perk, asked nicely for a cappuchino and settled down by a window table to read his book. In his backpack, he had his sketch set, a sketch pad, a notepad, a couple of pens and a rat plushie. Just in case. You never knew when you might need a rat plushie, after all.

((open for interaction and other threads and such. Or you could settle down and read a book too. Or maybe a comicbook.))

The shoppe is open, and Tonks is leaning against the counter, chin propped in her palm. She's flicking through a magazine, smiling as if something amuses her.
[identity profile] jarodpretends.livejournal.com
Jarod was once again behind the desk, furiously surfing the internet for shopping ideas.

He couldn't believe he'd forgotten Parker's birthday. If he didn't come up with something good, she'd skin him alive. He thought of simming her to get a gift idea, but it probably wouldn't yield the results he wanted--simming Parker never did.

The problem was that he knew what she wanted most, but he couldn't bring her mother back. So, the internet it was.

Loz opens the Pub again, staying out of the way of the kitchen staff while they got ready for the evening. The bar is readied and one of the guys from the kitchen came out to help Loz handle the customers.

The TV was on a sports channel and rugby was playing on the screen. Sitting at the edge of the bar, Loz was ready, himself.
