Mary didn't want to complain about the heat since Las Vegas did get a lot warmer than Virginia in the summer. However, coming from a desert climate, she really wasn't used to the humidity. So today she was dressed really casually in a button-down shirt and jeans, which meant that she was showing a lot less cleavage than usual. She'd already gone through a pitcher of iced tea on her own and had sent Gunther back to the kitchen for more.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!
Beat the heat and enjoy free iced tea today.

[OOC: Open for [personal profile] scary_jeff . I'm around until noon, and then SP after that.]

When Annette got to work, she had a few words with Gladys that consisted of, "Good morning, Gladys. How are you?" "Fine Annette, Thank You." And that was it. Gladys went back to work and Annette took herself to the front office and prepared for her day.

Twenty minutes later after getting there, she had a three foot long chain of paperclips going. It looked pretty cool cause they were hot pink and fluorescent green. Her goal was to reach the front door by the end of the day.

The Post Office is open.

Before anything else would get done, Turtle had a very important statement to make. Off went the stupid, wrong, incorrect Bob nametag from SquishyBot, and a much more accurate and prettier Alice nametag replaced it. She smoothed it out, smiled with a nod at SquishyBot. "That's much better, now, isn't it Alice?"

With that, she beamed at her handiwork and went to take up her spot at the counter. The now ultra-glittery "Help Wanted" sign was still on the door.

Today's Squishy Flavors: Red, Blue, Pink.

Turtle & Canary is open!

The music today was playing a little louder than usual, and Chad made sure he was playing nothing but songs he really, really liked. Blame the Evil Karaoke in his science class earlier today. Why, God, why? His musical sensitivities needed cleansing immediately. This included playing his guitar a lot, too. Anything to get rid of the Evil Karaoke.

Today's Music: Queen, Zeppelin, Doors, Floyd, Stones, Hendrix (all the essentials), with Cake added for infectiousness.

Groovy Tunes is open.

Giles was at his desk, going over both paperwork for the new deliveries -- thankfully nothing that hadn't actually been ordered for once -- as well as contemplating what he could teach Andrew for his first summoning "lesson". It had to look serious enough to keep the boy interested while at the same time being as close to harmless as possible.

There was also a HELP WANTED sign on the door.

The Magic Box was open.

Ah, another day of work, another day of tormenting the kitchen staff. Today, this took the form of very ostentatiously looking at commercial dishwasher units in the Sears catalog. (Yes, catalog. Yitzhak was too old-school to look at the website. Or maybe it was that he couldn't afford a computer due to spending every last bit of disposable income on wigs, dresses, and shoes, but he'd totally claim the old-school defense if anyone asked. Claiming said defense would take the form of a very distinct, very dorky hand gesture.)

The be-wigged HELP WANTED: Monday and Tuesday shifts available sign was still in the front window.

There were suds veritably flying in the back of the kitchen as the dishwasher tried to prove his mettle. This would have everything to do with explaining why Yitzhak kept going back there to sing snippets of "The Ballad of John Henry." Mostly the end of the song.

If he made a habit of talking, much less calling his employees by name, he'd dub the dishwasher John Henry from now on.

Luke's is open. Mind the suds.

[OOC: AFK until 8:30 EST for work, then around until 12:30ish AM EST at which point I'm off to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, whee.]

The church was open as usual. Unfortunately. Gabriel was rarely in a sociable mood, and today even less so.

[The church is open]

Dick managed to convince Sparkles to turn back into a Rubik's Cube long enough for him to get through a shift at Caritas. After refilling all the pretzels and taping on the drummer's left hand, Dick sat down at the bar to play cards with Tino.

[Up early by request. I'm around but mod Tino for groups]

During the day, all over town, posters went up. Poorly made posters with just a little glitter that looked like it had been thrown at them as an after thought.

This is because it was an afterthought. Deadpool decided that the kids liked glitter and it would draw their attention. Right? Hey, it was better than using hip slang that was both bizarre and confusing.

Wickety wack. )

[[OOC: Yes, it's an advice column. But instead of being written by a vaguely attractive (In that Bea Arthur kind of way) older woman, written by the lovable mercenary in town.

Think Dear Abby or anything like that with fun pseudonymes like 'Nervous in Nantucket'. Send any pleas for advice here, comments are screened.]]

Evie held the door for Bart, sniffing the air happily as they walked into the Perk. "Oh, lovely, they just made a fresh pot! Hmm, perhaps some espresso to start...."

[Evie's here with [livejournal.com profile] fastestkidalive to get a java fix. All are welcome to witness the caffienation and participate.]

After a quiet day at home doing nothing whatsoever in particular, and rather enjoying every minute of it, Aziraphale showed up for his Tuesday shift at the Devil's Nest. Having gotten his cleaning quota taken care of over the weekend, he just made sure things had been left in good order from the previous night, and then set himself up behind the bar with a scratch pad, a pen, and a glass of scotch.

Might as well use the quiet time between customers to get a head start on ideas for his fall class.

Enjoying an afternoon of helping A.J. paint his room, then painting her hands blue and leaving her mark on his wall, both decided pizza was in order. Especially since her stomach hadn't quit growling.

Walking into the restaurant, Annette grinned over her shoulder at him, "Smells yummy. Come on, let's find a table near the jukebox. cause every pizza place has one right? I brought lots of quarters."

(Annette is here with A.J. but Pizza Planet is open for all your pizzaria needs! yo!)
