A series of tents (in various sizes) and covered walkways had sprung up all over the park by midday. There were lots of open spaces, but one could easily get to any part of the carnival without venturing out into the sunlight. Only some of the seating and the big rides - the Ferris wheel, swings, and merry-go-round sat out in the open.

The sounds and smells reached all inhabited parts of the island and it was hard to miss all of the bright colors.

The Homecoming Carnival is open to all residents of Fandom. Weather modding says that any showers predicted for today will miss the island completely. It is a lovely fall day, if a bit warm. This is post one of two and has the concessions, seating, games, rides, and the mud pit which are all free to mod. The second post is here. OCD is up! Have fun!]]

Sokka was at his usual place, half-asleep behind the counter, when he heard a door creak somewhere in the back, and a tiny high-pitched voice shouted "Let's go!"

Sokka was suddenly very sure where the noises had come from.

When he peered around the doorframe into the Sorting Engine's room, the room was overrun with little... things, with green hair and baggy blue clothes.

They were walking single-file out of the back of the Sorting Engine and one by one floating down to the ground with tiny red-and-white umbrellas. Then they crossed the floor to the exit where, just under Sokka's nose, one of the creatures was standing and directing them all to turn around. They continued, still in single file, back to the Sorting Engine and on underneath it, where a second creature was directing them to all turn around again, at which point they joined the single-file line still pouring out of the machine.

Farther down the room, a single creature was pulling bricks out of a bag on its back to build a stairway that would, eventually, reach the Sorting Engine's hopper, so they could all go back where they came from.

As Sokka watched, mesmerized, the one builder stopped, put its bag down, and shrugged, and then picked the bag back up again and resumed building.

The post office was open, but you'll have to ring the bell for service.

This Homecoming event, whatever it was, was certainly moving the formalwear. Which meant people were buying a lot of formalwear, which was, conveniently enough, both expensive and chic. Therefore, Homecoming was fine by Tink.

She even came in on a day when the shop should be closed. Wasn't that ever so kind of her?

Tink wondered briefly if the roommate that she wasn't talking to was going to be chaperoning this Homecoming event. This could be interesting.

In the meantime? Pixie Dust was open.

Sora opened the store as always after his first class and sat back wondering what the heck to do about this homecoming thing. He'd never gone to one before and from the sound of radio everyone seemed to have dates for this thing!

It was fine that he didn't right? ....Right?

Today's Squishy Flavors! Sweettarts, Starburst, *%*%RED*%* (The sparkles just add something extra)

The first thing that might be noticed when students walked into the Town Hall was the towering stone troll statues that had been dragged in to grace the corners of the dance floor.  It being Homecoming and a semi-formal dance, the trolls were decked out appropriately in hats, glitter, and togas.  Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, some twined with streamers and some dripping glitter and confetti across the dance floor.

The walls were decorated with blown up pictures of significant events at Fandom: Graduations, the school blowing up, the Christmas pageants, plays, carnivals, zombies, all the moments that make Fandom Fandom.  Given a place of honour on the walls were a mock up of an exploding volcano, a massive gremlin in a bow tie, and, of course, the Stickbug flag.

Large lit up snowmen congregated around the punch bowl against a snowy backdrop and across the ballroom near the stage, there was a mural of large dinosaurs reaching up to enjoy a glittery streamer dinner.  The wall of the door though had the biggest picture of all - a painting of the island at night from across the water.

As students dropped off their wraps, they were pointed to vote for Homecoming Court then encouraged to proceed into the ballroom.

[OOC:  Chaperones and Security please ping in as soon as possible.  The second post will be going up in about five hours (or when browsers start to break) but this post is very SP friendly.  PLEASE wait for the OCD is UP and POST IS OPEN]

Mary had told her that it might be busy today with the alumni's arriving for homecoming. River had put a plate with cookies on the desk for visitors, to make it feel more welcoming. She had also discovered the fascinating world of savoury muffins, not that sweet and savoury was a distinction she found of major importance..

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!
Today's Specials
Tuna and mayonaise muffins
Scampi and cranberry sauce muffins
Mint and artichoke muffins

The Arms Hotel is open.

The random turning into a magpie seemed to have come to an end, luckily. Gabriel wondered if it could be a new kind of bird flu. Being suscpetible to mortal weaknesses like that was annoying. He really needed more donuts.

The shop was open, but Leo wasn't in sight at the moment. He was sulking you see.

Much of the glitter had fallen to the floor and the snowmen were starting to look a bit dingey but the music was still playing, the punch was still flowing and the greatest hits of Fandom past and presents weren't about to be stopped.

[OOC: Post is very SP friendly, OCD threads need to go up before pinging in IS UP AND POST IS OPEN!]
