There was a very happy Mary standing at the front desk today. Maybe it was the sense of relief over having her name cleared. Maybe it was the excitement of being able to attend the final day of MercCon. Or maybe it was because she had a boyfriend who spent a lot of time last night showing her just how much he missed her. Mary wasn't about the share the reason behind the big smile on her face.

There was a sumptuous brunch spread being served buffet style in the restaurant, although the seating area spilled out into the lobby as well. Besides the usual breakfast items such pancakes, waffles and a made-to-order omelet station manned by the sous chef, there was a carving table with roast beef, a champagne fountain, and lots of hash browns. Mary liked hash browns and Gunther knew that he'd be sent back to the kitchen if there were no hash browns on the buffet.

For his part, Gunther was sulking. There was no henri sauce in sight today and the usual starched white chef's uniform had been replaced by a worn-looking polyester leisure suit.

The staycation from Friday night had been such a success that Anders decided he was going to do it again at work tonight.

"Dear Tino," he announced as he walked behind the bar and set up his lounge chair. "Greetings from the British Virgin Islands! I hope Caritas is okay today. Sorry to leave you to take care of things. Wish you were here! Wait, no. No I don't. From, Anders."

Tino, of course, threw an olive at his head.

"Dear Tino," Anders replied, "Stop sending seagulls to drop olives on me. No souvenir for you. From, Anders."

[OOC: Up way early because I'm gonna be out for very large chunks of the day -- Tino-modding's going to be your best bet. Apologies.]

Makoto showed up bright and early, in his girl-guise, with the papers he'd been asked to fill out, and took his time going around and making sure he knew where everything was. He had a feeling this was going to be a more complicated job than his one at the bookstore.

Doom was behind the counter today, but a little off to the side and largely hidden behind the Squishy contraption. He had informed Apu in no uncertain terms that he was not to be disturbed today. He had plans to finalize after all.

Also, he heard about the convention.

These were exactly the kind of people who liked to come into the store on his days and pick a fight. He had too many other things to do, he couldn't be bothered with that type of foolishness today.

Apu, for his part, also made sure that the store was all set for the big game.

Today's Squishy flavors: Victory, Defeat, Commercials

[OOC: Speaking of the big game, I'm going to be at a friend's house from about 12 Central Time until late. So if you really want to talk to Doom, speed is the key!]

When Cable opened the front door of the store that morning, he found Weasel sitting by the side of a door in his trenchcoat.

Weasel jumped up. "Cable! Hey! Uh, I'm just-- checking in, you know. Making sure you're doing okay in all your... uh, aliveness." He grinned in what he hoped was a placating way.

Cable crossed his arms.

"So, uh, having seen you, would you mind if I hang around for a while? We can catch up on old times, I can, uh, scope out the neighbourhood-- have you maybe considered hiring someone from the outside for this place?"

Cable didn't uncross his arms.

Weasel hung his head. "You want the box, huh?"

Cable still didn't uncross his arms.

"Stupid question?"

"Yes."

Weasel sighed, his lower lip wibbling just a little, and got up. The box had been hidden under his coat and now rested there calmly, like a wooden nest egg. Without effort, Cable picked it up, walked back inside, and slammed the Open sign together with the door.

A.J. was having one of those incredibly productive days that consisted pretty much of him sitting there, working on something like cleaning before he completely spaced out. And then his brain would come around to Hey, I've got a girlfriend now, and then it would continue with not only a girlfriend, but one of the most perfect girlfriends ever, which lead to just grinning stupidly, dorkily, until he finally realized he was supposed to be working and the whole process would start all over again.
