It occurred to her that acting fine--just fine thanks--during the rest of the week was severely undermined by the fact that she insisted on working here. It made Wellspring Arms more than a wee bit awkward, really, and her mood was dark as she went around the store and fussed with the plants.

And, you know, tried not to think too hard. Stupid Cable. Stupid baby.

Whatever.

Johnny was engrossed in a supercross magazine. It was the latest issue so one might have to yell, cough, bang on the counter to get his attention.

Funny how Amber missed the island being overrun with kids. She'd made a quick trip home for the weekend because her ma kept bugging her, missing her. And she assured Amber that Gladys Leeman and her big ass shotgun had not been spotted in Mount Rose for quite some time. She felt Amber would be relatively safe coming home. As usual, her ma was right.

At work today, she decided to just clean up and straighten aisles, and then Amber parked herself behind the counter and chewed on a Twizzler while she doodled with a purple crayon.

Eddie has been missing since Monday. No...tail feather to be seen. George Michael thought this odd. Not that he would even dare to think that he missed that seagull. No way. Maybe a little. Where was he?

To preoccupy his meandering thoughts, George Michael bent behind the counter and hid more cash in the stand. Uh. Quite a little stash he was getting. Pop-Pop would be proud.

Wait. Was he getting married this weekend? Eloping?

Was that... this weekend?

Oh. Wow.

George Michael stood up and stared. He would have to call his dad. Monday.

Dale was in a more chipper mood than usual this morning. The current theory among the troopers was that the coffee was now over-caffeinated.

Regardless of their theories, Dale chipped away at his mountain of paperwork as he whistled a jaunty tune.

It amazed Hoshi just how much she missed her two little alien children, especially little Toru who had relied on her so much this weekend. It put some things in perspective for her. Which is why Hoshi talked to her mother yesterday for the first time since December.

They mutually agreed that it would be best for Hoshi to spend the summer at school. Apparently miracles don't happen overnight.

Teyla was still feeling a little distracted from the weekend, and the idea that she could have a child with a boy she hardly knew. She couldn't decide if that was a sign that she should get to know him better, or stay as far away from him as possible.

Today's music was a salsa mix - loud, fast, and more distracting than everything else.

Luke's Diner; Wednesday [ 04/30 ]

Deftly avoiding too much work if he could help it, A.J. leaned on the counter of the diner with a sketchbook. He wasn't sketching, though. In fact, not much of anything was getting done on it, because what he was trying to do was come up with a list of things he could scrap or sell after graduation for a little extra cash, but he was realizing that he had practically nothing of value.

Maybe he'd just have to be extra nice to customers this week and next to milk as much out of tips as he could.

Today's special looked a lot like a motorboard hat flying through the air and shooting lasers. No, A.J. still didn't know all that much about last year's graduation.

Just because classes were out didn't mean he didn't have things to do and he was ridiculously thankful that he had an excuse for cooking all day. It wasn't exactly mindless, but the combination of all the thinking he had to do and how quickly and simultaneously he had to do it would make sure that there was nothing going on between his ears but timers and ingredients.

Faith was still riding the high of being Aunt Faith. And very, very glad that whatever-it-was that dropped off fake kids for everybody, didn't give her one. She made a much better 'aunt' than 'mom.' Trust her on this one.

While the bar had been opened on time, the bartender himself was nowhere to be found.

A disgruntled Musubi could be found behind the bar, occasionally glaring at the door to the basement and muttering under her breath.
