Mondays had become busy days. Two classes and a job kept Ender's mind on things that were a little more productive, and he liked it that way. His new boss didn't seem to care much, and Ender was more than happy to let slide what didn't matter. He'd been treated worse, and there was no point in puzzling about it: Stark had his own priorities.

This left Ender functionally alone in the store when he wasn't in class, quietly picking through some cables and considering the ancient electronics that might one day become murder weapons, and asking Jarvis the occasional question about his programming.

It wasn't much, but it was a start.

When you do your best to keep a neat and well-run diner, like Lacey did, coming in to work at the beginning of the week to find that the mysterious black X marks that had popped up in various spots on the island had also managed to make their way into the diner was -- to put it lightly -- cause for consternation.

Okay, there was only one, and it was on the cash register -- which, when Lacey opened it, yielded gold-foil-wrapped chocolate coins in the drawer compartment where she kept the paperclips. It was a small drawer, so there weren't many of them, but now she had three coins o'(chocolate) gold.

No, they wouldn't shine forever, they weren't the nucleus of her soul, and melt down, yes, they would eventually (especially since it was a lot hotter today than it had been yesterday). But still. Three coins o'gold!

Today's Specials
Raspberry (Beret) Tarts
StarFish and Coffee
(I Wanna) Patty Melt (With U)

Luke's is open, and someone was in a weird mood when they came up with the specials today.

[OOC: I . . . couldn't resist attempting to combine the weekly prompt and the random event. I just couldn't.]

After his afternoon workshop, Chad came in to open Groovy Tunes a little late, but he didn't really think anyone would notice. He took a moment to clean up a bit, straightening the magazine racks and a few of the CD shelves, made sure the Now Hiring sign was firmly in place in the window, and then settled behind the counter.

This was exceptionally nice because Prince Oscar Pedro kept returning to Chad, dragging little boxes of chocolate coins over after some wandering through the store. Chad nibbled on them decorously, though, not too much, because he didn't want to have Prince Oscar Pedro feel too bad. He was doing all the hard work in finding them, after all, only to be deprived of eating them because Chad knew all too well what chocolate did to that cat's stomach.

Today's mix: Meow Mix.

Groovy Tunes is open!

Dick was sitting by the duck pond, enjoying the change in temperature while he could.

He even brought some bread for the ducks, but when he was halfway through the bread some more ducks joined the party. While Dick started breaking off smaller pieces in an attempt to share with everyone, in the end there were two ducks that received no bread. They started making a strange noise that Dick soon realized meant that they were sobbing because of their disappointment.

Dick realized that this was what it sounds like when ducks cry.

[OOC: The first of what is sure to be many cheesy puns from me as a response to weekly prompts. Open as a duck pond tends to be, and I do believe that duck ponds tend to be open.]

They were still mostly ruiny, but a great deal less trashy, thanks to the volunteers.

They were also covered in little X's, and there was a Xander standing near a wheelbarrow full of shovels.

"Okay so this wasn't what I had planned for today?" He scratched his head under the edge of his construction hat, then shrugged. "--but ignoring it when Fandom gives you a hint tends to be a bad idea, so... be careful? If smoke, fire, green gas or baby dinosaurs come out, STOP DIGGING. And just in case, there's bottles of Holy Water to squirt on whatever you find before you open it. Just saying. "

Antarctica had been nice to look at from a distance, but Mary was happy to get back to the tropics. She was eager to hit the beach in the new bikini she bought at the beginning of the summer.

For now, though, she was trying to figure out why there was a big black X on the floor in the middle of the lobby.

Worf had opened the store to find a couple of "X's" marked on a couple of spots around the store. Curious about the matter Worf is currently scanning the spots with a tricorder in order to figure out what exactly seems to be the issue.

After two weeks in Antarctica, Sokka was disappointed to find the island in warmer climes. Really. He was. A lot. In fact, he was very steadfastly DETERMINED to be disappointed about it.

But he wasn't going to let the elevator bring him down, oh no. Especially not when Bob had a gigantic X drawn on her face. One of the Squishy flavors looked... odd, and the drum was making weird clunking noises as it spun. Sokka lifted a cup, pulled the lever, and for just a moment the clunking stopped and "Ahhh! Ahhh!" was all he heard. And then in the cup was a little miniature treasure chest with gold-foil-covered chocolate coins spilling out. Sokka peered at the nozzle of the SquishyBot and wondered exactly how that had just happened. If Bob could have shrugged in confusion, she would have.

Really, what else could Sokka do? He went crazy. He got nuts.

Liz who had read the lyrics and figured out WHY that one line was so hard to understand, meanwhile, was looking for a purple banana until Apu was about ready to put her in the truck.

Today's Squishy flavors: Red, Grape Judas Purple Rain, Coin-filled Treasure Chests

Extra shift. What the hell. Might as well stop in, drink a little, pick up some extra cash, right?

Tropical drinks, with those little funky umbrellas, on special, for the fact that they were somewhere warm again. Good deal.

Caritas was open.
