If Lacey was a little bleary-eyed and given over to intermittent yawning today -- well, yes, it was because she'd been up late last night watching the Olympics closing ceremonies. Just her and a whole box of Kleenex. She couldn't help it -- it always got to her just like that when the flame went out, you know? She was, however, already gleefully anticipating the 2010 Winter Games, secure in the knowledge that Canada would be way higher in the medal count for that.

The display case on the counter today featured an array of cupcakes, each one painstakingly decorated with sprinkles, shredded coconut, or chocolate shavings to look like the Bird's Nest. And next to the cash register was a large bowl, and next to that a sign:

Today's Special
Buy a pie, get a turtle!

It wasn't really a surprise that the phone kept ringing with irritable calls from J,GoB, but arguably ill-conceived special or not, Luke's is open.

Mary had spent the weekend with her boyfriend and returned in a very good mood. She was humming to herself as she used the computer at the front desk to look for jewelry stores near Lexington Park. Her ring could use a little more sparkle.

Gabriel was bored. As a result he paced up and down the aisle, shouting at Cat in various languages, most of them long since dead. Cat sat on the altar and stared at him.

Workshops were over, they were back in the dorms, it didn't look like the island was going to move again, and new kids and classes were a week away.

Time to relax.

Sokka had dragged a comfy chair and footstool out from the furniture aisle and set them up near the register, and fallen asleep on it with a Squishy in his hand and Liz resting on his stomach. Ahh, this was the life.

Apu was NOT pleased.

Today's Squishy flavors: Red, Grape Judas, Cooked Meat (with Meat Sauce)

It wasn't unusual for Adah to be ready for what she needed to do before it needed to be done or, in this current situation, before she could do it. Most of her things had been shipped for convenience, so Adah sat at the base of a tree in the park with one simple, small suitcase beside her and a notebook in her lap. She had a bit still until her cab should arrive at the causeway to take her to the airport for her flight back to Georgia and back in 1963, but that suited her just fine. It gave her a chance to work on one final tribute to Fandom as she passed the few, slowly dragging hours that remained. Sitting, and sketching. Wildlife, but not the birds or plants that took form in her usual sketches. No, she was sketching squirrels today, many of them. And all of them dying horrible, realistically scribbled deaths.

It was analeptic, really, interrupted only occassionally by a slight sigh and a lift of her eyes, casting her gaze around the park as she tried to not think about how much she'd miss this place, before checking her watch again, seeing how long she had, and then returning to her sketching until it was time.

[[ Adah's last post as a student! Open, of course, for any parkly needs but especially any lingering good-byes! I should be mostly around, but I'll likely disappear for just a wee bit for foodishness ]]

Seregil had been feeling under the weather the past week, so hadn't made it much past his bed. He was finally feeling better so headed into town to take his usual shift at the Book Haven.

He opened the shop and laid out a plate of cookiees and a pitcher of iced tea. Then he settled down behind the counter with his sketchbook and idly doodled as he contemplated the upcoming school term.

The Book Haven was open.

Arashi opened up Caritas and thankfully didn't have Tino hovering over him this week. Instead Tino was hanging up streamers along with the Zombie band while Arashi watched.

"You know the newbies won't be here until this weekend right?" He grinned at them and just got a blank shrug in return while some of the zombies grunted and moans. It was hard to talk without a lower jaw.

"OKay.. okay, just wanted to make sure."

This was the first chance that Mohinder had had to wander the new spaces that the island had grown, sprouted or otherwise increased in size. The muddle of mostly silent streets had given way to a stretch of coast - lighthouse vsible in the distance - he followed in lieu of any more urgent choices.

Tucked under one arm was a pad - a half-sketched layout of the island's new streets. The planks creaked beneath his feet, and - with a quick check that he wouldn't get wet feet - Mohinder relaxed onto a waterside bench, taking a gulp of still-warm coffee.

In the dark of night somewhere deep in the new woods, the only real illumination was the green glow from Jolee's lightsaber. He didn't use it very often, but it was the best cutting tool he had. This part of the work - gathering rocks and logs for the structure - was quick enough. It was going to take a while to make enough muck to get the mud he needed for the hut, but he had all night to do it.

He'd been living above a bar for too long. It wasn't the right place for a properly eccentric old man. Building a hut in the middle of the park would have been TOO eccentric, of course. But out here in the woods? This was perfect.

[OOC: Open if anyone is taking a late-night stroll through the woods, I suppose.]
