Worf had arrived early to make sure that everything was in proper order. Unfortunately there were few yoga magazines that were out of placed and apparently marked by some random fashion that made no sense to him.

So Worf neatly stacked them in the corner and made sure that the rest of the store was ready for customers.

Coming into work after class today, Chad was quiet.

True, Chad was always quiet, but this was a different kind of quiet, and even Prince Oscar Pedro seemed to notice it, following suit and not running around the store today so much as wandering around and taking a few naps, but always making sure to circle around to Chad and give a little reassuring rub against his leg.

He'd made a few of the visits he'd needed to make already-- a few more were set to be relatively soon, and he needed to get a hold of Constable Fraser to discuss school security. Which made the previous week a productive week, and this one moreso.

And as such, of course, 'Mayor Summers' was on the phone with Irene Merryweather. "And I think we can manage security of the new section of the island if we adopt a new trooper deployment plan."

"So how's that paperwork coming, Nate?"

"As well as it should."

"You ever think maybe you need an assistant?"

"You can't come here right now, Irene."

A sigh. "I know." A pause. "So how is the job?"

"I'm having fun," Cable said, his mouth twitching in a slight smile.

"See," Irene said, "Now that isn't worrying in the least..."

After a great deal of consideration, Charlotte decided to add another sign to the one already in the window advertising the showcase submissions:

Deadline Extended! Entries are now accepted until September 15th
.

She looked it over in the window and then gave a nod. She'd had a few entries, true, but this will hopefully get in a few more and reduce her stress levels over the next week significantly. With that lifted off her mind, she headed back into the gallery, settled behind the desk with some tea, and read a little in her downtime.

Her downtime kept getting cut short, though, because she'd notice a nail that much have rolled off the desk or something from when Kevin was "practicing," and, of course, she couldn't just leave it. She had to get up and get it and while she was up, find at least three other things to pick at.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

The York Gallery is open!

It was just Lacey's luck that she'd had to go and handwavily, curse you work check out a gourmet cookbook this morning, wasn't it? Sure, she'd madly debated the idea for a while, weighing the possibility of picking up a few more tips on fancy French cuisine against the usual crushing sense of inadequacy that came when she remembered that she wasn't a gourmet French chef. Eventually she'd decided that she'd risk the ego-bruising in favor of the educational benefit.

Which was why she was now standing behind the counter with her face buried in her hands as she kicked herself mentally over the decision, while an impeccable white kitten in a tall chef's hat sauntered about the diner, mewing disdainfully at everything from the way the cook assembled the burgers to the tastefully arranged display of Nanaimo (style) bars beside the cash register.

No one in Dog River was going to hear about this, ever.

Luke's is open. Mind your ankles if you complain about the food.

Alex opened up the Magic Box, only partly paying attention to the store as she listened to a voicemail from Harper. Gigi was up to no good again.

If only there was a spell to really mess with her. Alex didn't understand how they could have been such good friends and then suddenly they were mortal enemies.

Alex let out a small groan as she settled behind the counter. It was going to be a long day.

The Magic Box was open.

Robin did not need a wet suit. Which was good because they as yet did not carry them in his size. He had however managed last year to procure a tiny surf board, which he was using now. Surfing was something he'd learned last year, and he loved it. He hadn't managed to get away from the Everglades much during the summer, so he'd missed this.

"Wheeee!"

[open, but as per my availability post, SP is expected.]

Sokka was sort of grumpy as he stood behind the counter today. Two nights ago, he'd been visited in his dreams by ACTUAL spirits, from the ACTUAL Spirit World, which was all KINDS of awesome, but what they had to say basically was that he needed to scrap all of his battle plans. ALL of them. Great. When he graduated, he was going to get home three years older and just as useless.

There wasn't any sort of island-wide weirdness going on, and the island didn't seem to have moved again since they got to Maryland, and... well, it was a pretty normal day. He would have just about killed for a distraction.

Arashi was spending most of his time behind the bar sitting down. No reason as to why.

And no that wasn't him limping slightly when he walked and it had nothing to do with spending the previous night on the couch with his husband who wasn't really his husband that he might have been thinking of divorcing to the point that the paperwork was hidden in his desk at home.

At least Arashi thought he spend the night with him on the couch, it was difficult to tell since there had been absolutely no sign of the bastard when he woke up.

Nope, no reason at all for him to be kind sore and cranky as he went through the bar and got it ready to open.

When Seregil got everything set up in the shop this morning, he went through the shelves and pulled out a few tomes by this Shakespeare fellow. If he was going to audition tomorrow, it only seemed right to try and learn as much as possible first.

The Book Haven was open.
