It was hypnotic, and Jack couldn't stop looking. He'd arranged all the cameras with the LCD screens in a pyramid, all plugged into outlets, and was watching the yule log burning on the tiny screens. The Display TV, normally playing a video of the specials, just kept flickering, just that burning log for hours and hours.

He was really tempted to see if he could find a fake marshmallow to roast.

MHA Lobby, Tuesday

Loki woke up in a particularly good mood this morning. Well, a good mood for him. The events of last night had only proven that he needed to do things like that more often. Maybe this island wouldn't be so fucking boring if he could make his own fun. He'd done it before, he'd done it a few times during his time here, he could do it consistently.

Unless he got fucking lazy. It happened.

There was a sign on the desk this morning that read The Handywoman lives in Apartment #7. Knock on her door EARLY and OFTEN. He was proud of his handiwork.

Loki himself wasn't behind the counter today. Instead, he was going back and forth between the office and the laundry room in an attempt to do his laundry. While he waiting for that to be done, he was riding a recently purchased old skateboard around the lobby, taking corners sharply, grabbing onto door frames to propel him quicker and, amazingly, staying up on the fucking thing.

"I am awesome!" he said, throwing his arms high. Of course, that would be when he hit something on the floor and went tumbling head over ass. So much for awesome.

[MHA is open, of course!]

It was getting colder out, slowly but surely, and Hinata was not exactly pleased by this development. Rather resigned to it, yes, as that was how things were around here. As such, despite the over-abundance of the cocoa yesterday, Hinata could not help but indulge in making some to set out while she was at work.

Settling in with a book, and a mug of it, Hinata thought that she really didn’t mind too much what the temperature was outside when she was inside.

Ino was... trying to decide if they really ought to start selling poinsettia’s and mistletoe and such very soon. It was already the second of December after all. Fiddling with her hair, she checked what all they had in stock and, upon finding that yes, they did have some (but not, she thought, nearly enough) decided that she’d have to put in an order for more.

Humming as she went through that process, Ino then indulged in a lot of fussing with the plants.

Lion-o was a bit subdued as he opened Cafe Fina that day. These Earth holidays really had him feeling kind of sad. He had hoped to go home last weekend and see his dad, but Panthro told him that there wasn't a ship available to pick him up. At least he didn't have too long to wait until the semester break.

Temari wasn't quite sure when there had been a television in the shop, but there it was. And it had a fire going on it.

Oddly, she didn't shut it off.

You would be grateful for even a fake fire in this kind of cold weather if you were her too!

Gunther seemed to be glued to the TV set when Mary got to the lobby. That didn't bother her much since an occupied Gunther was a quiet Gunther. She had plenty of stuff to do today...

Wait a minute. "Gunther, what is that on the TV?" she asked, leaning over to take a closer look to see what had him so mesmerized. "That's kind of interesting. No, don't change the channel. I'd rather watch that."

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!

Sarah had been slacking on her workouts lately; she still ran, she'd go nuts if she didn't, but she hadn't hit the gym nearly often enough. So she was there this morning, putting herself through her paces on the weights circuit and eying the punching bags. She'd need to get in some work on them, too.

The TVs mounted over the treadmills were tuned to the Yule log station, and she noticed them with mild surprise. It seemed early for it, but it was still almost soothing.

[OOC: Open gym.]

Coyote was so distracted by sniffing at the water he'd prepared for the sweat lodge to make sure it wasn't still chocolatey that he totally tripped over the box from his turkey trap, last week.

This gave him a horrible delightful idea.

Customers coming to the shop today might want to watch out for the box of chocolate sauce and feathers propped over the door.

The door to the theatre was closed today, oddly enough, but there was a sign.

Rehearsal Changed to Thursday. See you all then.

[ooc: running a fever, roommate running a fever, have no focus, dress rehearsals deserve better, fall sucks for this cold and flu nonsense]

Aravis was decidedly saddened by the lack of hot chocolate pouring from taps today.

It might be obvious, given that she was wandering around trying to see if she could recreate it by trying all the water pumps and faucets.

After her interesting evening the night before, Pepper was doing her best to catch up on the work she'd been trying to do at her coffee table.

And, okay, maybe she was looking into landlord/tenant rights and agreements. Just casually.

Marshall had made sure the place was extra clean tonight and that the zombies were extra taped up because of the karaoke contest tonight. He was glad to help the students out but he was a bit pouty. He didn't want to work. He wanted to sing! Luckily Chuck walked in just in time.

"Hey Barney Jr," Marshall said, waving Chuck over. "I've got a favor to ask."

Chuck looked Marshall over. "There's not enough money in the world."

"What? Ew. I don't even want to know what you mean by that," Marshall said, making a face. "Can you tend bar? There's a karaoke contest in here tonight and I want to to watch. Can you tend bar?"

Chuck opened his mouth to say no but found himself getting pushed over towards the bar.

"Great, thanks, don't kill anybody," Marshall said quickly before heading over towards the stage.

Chuck bitchfaced.

"Two days, and I haven't seen anything at our client's comic book shop yet," Sam sighed. "Max, I'm afraid we haven't had a case this tough since we were stranded in Sêrxü County, Tibet, tracking down the wild peasant-sniffing Yeti that stole our yak butter."

Not that Sam was giving up. They were, after all, the Freelance Police.

The big plate-glass window still had a cheery sign in it:

NOW HIRING
Employees Must Furnish Own Gun

underneath their logo, with the new postscript:

Our Rates Are Better!

Freelance Police HQ was open.

Jan was looking very meek today, ears drooping and tail held low.

He'd listened to Apu lecture him about his duty to Turtle & Canary, and how he had let down the store by not showing up for work.

Jan muttered a brief explanation and the words 'I was a plushie' made Apu pause long enough for Jan to skitter around the shelves and out of sight.

Today's Squishie flavours: Red, Blue, Gillty Green (tastes fishy)
