The Gig, Friday [8/28]

Dani arrived at The Gig to find an unpleasant surprise. Sure, she understood that the delivery guy was usually cranky because he had to park his truck at the parking lot off the causeway and haul everything over to the The Gig. But today he really screwed up and left her 100 pounds of animal feed at the building next door.

She debated for a moment how she was going to move everything all by her lonesome little self. Then she remembered that the building next door was the Fandom Firehouse. A few minutes of flirting and Dani had sweet-talked the firefighters into "helping" her.

The Gig was open, and Dani was sitting outside with a glass of iced tea while watching her new friends work.

The Arms Hotel Lobby, Friday [8/28]

Mary did her check of the Las Vegas headlines, especially Casino Death Watch. She was delighted to see that the Montecito Resort Group was one of the few that were not facing financial problems, though they had slowed construction on their new hotel tower. It made sense, since there were just too many hotel rooms available for Vegas travelers. She jotted down a few ideas to share with Cooper the next time she spoke to him, then went back to persuading Gunther to stop terrorizing the housekeeping staff.

Sophie was carefully studying an article in the New York Times. Two articles, really: one saying that a very wealthy banker had divested himself of his assets, and was now technically bankrupt, not paying child support to his ex-wife and three children, and yet still living in his penthouse in Central Park West and riding in his Bentley to his consulting firm. The other, linked news item mentioned that his collection of Chagalls was being exhibited at a gallery on the west side. Hmmm.

Guilty as Charged - Friday 8/28 - Early Afternoon

Feeling a bit gloomy with the cloudy weather, Haley didn't feel like moving from behind the desk much; even though, there was a bunch of new inventory sitting in the back room waiting to be sorted out.

No, instead, she was just sitting there like a lazy bum, occasionally zoning out to Pink Floyd and munching on chocolate chip cookies. Rain and all, Fridays were becoming worse than Mondays for her. Of course, she was pretty sure just the two hours of sleep didn't help either.

Atlas Gym | Friday Afternoon

After meeting with the NPC staff and trying to ignore the two girls who were whispering the whole time about some crazy/hot scale and where battling birds fell on that, Dimitri set to work touring the gym facilities.

The place was much more extensive than the Guardian facilities at St. Vladimir's, given the location of a gun range beneath the swimming pool. But there was equipment, mats, and dummies galore to keep Dimitri from feeling too far from his own understanding.

That was a good thing.

The Perk, Friday morning

Leto had ordered a coffee and sat down by a table next to the window. While his recent visit to Kate's family had been interesting, it had also reminded him that he was caught between his family here and the family he had on Arrakis. The risk of paradox prevented him from sharing anything of his current life with the latter.

But he pushed those thoughts away and leaned back in his chair. Although temporary, Fandom had turned out to be a home, and he was grateful for that.

Typically, Turtle was an exceptionally good worker, especially in the office, surrounded by things she was easily enthusiastic about. But today, there was absolutely no hope for her at all. Tomorrow was the start of it all. Tomorrow, officially, with the arrival of new students she'd have to meet and schmooze right away and hopefully make a good, lasting impression on them, her senior year would start. The year of potential presidency.

Her head was so distracted with campaign plans, as well as with the nervous twisting in her stomach, that she didn't dare touch anything today at work except the most basic things. Like making sure there was toner in the printer and watering the plants. But even those were made harder by the sheer force of her excited anxiety.

Valentine was still trying to fish out, if you will, a reason why the fish came about as a promotion. Maybe it was an aphrodisiac sort of thing? She didn't really try to evaluate it too much because she was feeling fairly lazy today, and, besides, it would be kind of nice to have some fish to watch swim around in the tank when she got bored with finding random stuff to put out on the counter to display just how weird some people's libidos could be.

Of course, that didn't stop Valentine from sticking to the theme. Not only had she found a friend for the vibrator being offered as a prize, but she had found many other sea-themed toys to bring it all together a little more.

The water theme even allowed her to find something new for torturing Turtle.

The Magic Box, Friday

Well, this was it, then. For better or for worse, Agnes would be going home soon, and this was her last day in the store.

She'd brought with her most of the things she'd bought from the store over the past few months, and spend the morning logging them back into inventory and putting them neatly on the shelves. After that, she wrote up a nice little note for Mr. Sunstrider thanking him for the job and asking that any unpaid wages she was due should be donated to charity or somesuch. After that, well... She busied herself by dusting. A place like this was ALWAYS in need of dusting.
