Mondays were never happy, and today also involved a lot of falling on ice skates. So now there was a dilemma: try to see if she could get away with sleeping behind the counter, or do some actual work standing up because sitting might hurt.

If you wanted Mirax, she'd be taking inventory. Sitting would be next week's plan.

Yeah, okay, so Kennedy had shown up early; she and 'fashionably late' didn't get along. It was a procrastination thing; why wait longer than absolutely necessary to do things she wanted to do? (While this reasoning worked perfectly well for her, it caused her Watcher no end of headaches. The pharmaceutical industry probably wouldn't complain.)

Thus, early, and seated at a window table, playing Text Twist on her iPhone while she waited for Tara. The longer words weren't that hard for her to pick out, but it was always the painfully obvious three-letter ones she missed. What was up with that?

[[she's here for [livejournal.com profile] life_inshadow, but the perk is open for your non-beaver buzz caffeine needs. stupid text twist game. i completely blame it for why i'm probably gonna end up upgrading my phone this weekend. :p]]

It had been a quiet few weeks for Worf. Very quiet. Too quiet.

There was only so much meditation, mok'bara practice, and watching The View punching bag demolishing one Klingon could take before he became... more irritable than usual.

So beware the Klingon sitting behind the counter. He might be extra grumpy today.

[The OCD was scared away by Klingon grumbling and crankiness. Oh-so-open!]

With the regular chores taken care off, Dani was in the office, using e-mail to flirt with her ex-boyfriend Matt in California.

Did you read about the football player with the lacerated kidney? Aren't you glad you didn't get that college football scholarship? Though you did look very cute in your football uniform and we really did have a good time on that away game at Napa Valley High when Dad thought I was staying with my grandmother...

And then she accidentally forwarded the whole exchange to her dad.

The Gig was open, and Dani was very grateful that she was living halfway across the country from Ken Davis right now.

Alex had her laptop with her when she opened the shop. She made sure things were in order and settled down to browse the World Wide Wiz Web.

After two days some time spent realizing that the DVDs were actually in the plastic boxes that Tony had loaned him, and not the plastic boxes themselves, and then that, while he had no DVD player on his TV, he did have one that seemed to work perfectly well on his laptop, Castiel had spent his weekend watching Space Battles.

And now he was sitting in the Perk with a cooling cup of coffee and an as yet unnibbled slice of marble pound cake, searching the internet for Space Battles fanfiction.

And wouldn't you know it? People got that wrong, too!

He'd crafted what he felt was a very reasonable and patient letter explaining to one author that the characters were not, in fact, high school students, and that as far as he could tell, the society in which the movies took place wasn't even structured to have a high school, and was currently attempting to translate the response the author had sent him in return. It was clearly written in some kind of code, but seemed to be implying disreputable things about Castiel's mother.

The day started well with an unplanned-for electrical malfunction in Ender's laptop. Despite his best efforts, he couldn't get the thing to boot up again. With a sigh, he flipped it over, and began the laborious task of taking it apart himself and poking around the insides.

The hard drive, however, was going to be handled like it was a religious artifact. He had copies of the data, of course, but that didn't mean he wanted to lose the originals.

"So did you take a look at the data?"

"I'm looking," Nate said, with a slight frown on his face. This frown wasn't because of the data; it was because Jan was threatening to do a few really undignified things with some of his pens. "Don't do that--"

"Don't do what?"

"Nothing," he said, pulling a pen out of her hands. "I agree that there's some discrepancies, but I'm not sure that's anything that can't be attributed to human error. The foreman--"

"Krovich."

"--We'd need to see his angle."

"Nate, people think you're dead. I can't just ask them to get on the phone with you."

"Of course not. But you're the journalist..."

"Sigh."

Today was both World Freedom Day, and European Inventor's Day. So little chunks of the Berlin Wall were for sale (though Oz had doubts as to their authenticity), as were DVD's celebrating great inventors and such.

He himself was playing with a Build Your Own Rube Goldberg Device kit.

Welcome to the Holiday Grove.

The exercises in calligraphy were still up - modern Western, Arabic done in lights, and delicate Chinese -- but in addition to that, Sophie was working on posters to be posted around town.

Adrian was in for a surprise when he got to Caritas on Monday.

Tino had called out sick.

For a moment Adrian just looked around the bar, realizing he'd never actually watched what Tino did to set up. "Well played," he said finally. "Well played."
