After putting up the sign, Hurley retired to behind the counter where he sipped at a mug of hot cocoa.

Today's mix was Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, Dr. Dre, and the Old Crow Medicine Show.

Ellie brought a few magazines with her in case it was a slow day. Or if she just wanted an excuse to ignore Gunther. She was also going to be avoiding the special today. Damn shrimp allergy.

Dinah couldn't take the indoors for another minute, so she headed to the beach, calling Jak first, then left a message for Jack Priest, and figured she'd better call Momoko too. She had her phone with her if they wanted to catch up to her sooner. This way she wouldn't be waiting in her dorm room for someone in particular to maybe not show up all afternoon. Maybe not totally logical, but it kept her sane. While there, she got a rather upsetting call from Roy, so she called him back.

Right now she was playing with the water, making a whip, then sending it sailing out into the surf. Extra points for distance, huge splashes, and twirls.

The weird time differential between his world and Fandom always had John running for coffee after a portal. Today was no different and he happily grabbed a table in the warm shop to drink up while he left a voicemail message because he'd promised to call when he got to town.

It was really too bad that message wasn't going to be as helpful as he'd hoped.

Jaina hadn't had huge reason to figure out anything was up with the lines today, or she might have been a little embarrassed about having picked up her phone at all. Instead she was wondering why she hadn't gotten a call from John to say he was around, but figured he just wasn't in town yet.

So she went off to her first day at the new old job, getting things set up and refamiliarizing herself with things on this end of the bar. She quickly realized Tino might be off no help, since he seemed to constantly be on his phone. She had no idea who he was calling, but she didn't think she really wanted to know.

At least until a few minutes into her shift when she checked her voicemail and found one from him. "You have a sick mind," she told him, deciding to stay at this end of the bar tonight.

[FYI, Tino is participating in phone day. If anyone wants to mod yourself a call from him, feel free. Why should he be left out?
I KNOW THE DAY I WAS JUST SEEING IF YOU WERE PAYING ATTENTION.]

So Elena had planned on taking Jacob out drinking, to celebrate his first week of intact-sanity in Fandom, but he'd suddenly changed his mind once they got near Caritas. Maybe it had bad mojo or something.

Ching Tai seemed like a good back-up.

"Well, there goes my clever plan to get you drunk and take advantage of you," she teased, as they were seated.

(werewolf modded with permission. expecting him, but it's open for all your Ching Tai needs!)

Castiel had had enough. He'd been harrassed all day by the phone making noise and people leaving him improbable, bizarre messages. He had gotten absolutely no work done on his epic first fanfic, instead spending all of his time poking at tiny buttons and attempting to clear up the townspeople's misconceptions, and he'd had enough! It was smiting time.

He strode out of the church with great purpose, bulbs bursting all along the front of the building, street lights flickering like strobes in a dance club, sparks flying and dramatic music swelling. Smoke poured from ruined lighting fixtures and his coat fluttered dramatically in an unexpected, strange gust of wind. Shadows of giant wings unfurled against the face of the church as he stepped into the middle of the street, clenched his fists, and straightened his neck, his expression full of determination and dire consequence. He pulled his phone from his pocket and glanced again at the screen, which was still flashing the caller's identification information from the last call he'd received. He narrowed his eyes at it.

Then he set it down in the middle of the street and spent several moments stomping on it and jumping up and down on the tiny plasticky bits and pieces, making little squeaky noises of effort as he went, until it was no more than dust and sand on the asphalt.

There. That'd show it.

[ooc: yeah, it's open]

The minute Robin got to work, he immediately heated himself up some cocoa. It was freezing outside!

There was plenty to share of course. Welcome to Android's dungeon.
