Dolf trudged obediently to work that morning. He'd had to dig into some of his money reserves to go to Triela's funeral, which meant he'd gotten knocked back a few notches from his target. And that meant getting into work in time (...not that he thought Shunsui would notice if he wasn't) and doing some extra restocking in penance.

Even Apu commented on the fact that he seemed awfully quiet that day.

Dolf just muttered something about having a lot to think about, and went about his day without moping visibly.

Well. Except for that time someone knocked a few eggs off the shelf.

Mitchell was hard at work at the theater today - probably unique, considering how more and more of his time drained into Bristol. (It was also at least partly because Fandom strange tended to happen on the weekends, and Kate would probably roll her eyes if he missed another one.)

But: working. Because he really wasn't going to go see the popcorn-oriented film they were playing today.

Quick Five

Yep. It was all about the racing and the hoyay today.

Well, Jim had survived his first week on Earth, for better or worse, and had somehow managed to get himself a job while he was at it. Considering the conditions of getting the job had involved him flying his surfer into a garbage can in an alleyway last weekend, he still wasn't entirely certain what to make of it all. The fact that his boss was apparently both insane and severely colorblind didn't help that much, either.

But getting to use the equipment here, and get paid for it?

Apparently, Jim had been sent to Heaven for summer camp, not Earth.

Today was going to be spent looking over all of the little odds and ends that were sitting around here, so that he could better acquaint himself to the differences between Earth technologies and the far more familiar materials that he worked with back home. So far, the lack of more solar-powered devices was getting kind of disappointing. The plug-in appliances were kind of cool, though.

The radio that he'd demolished in his efforts to figure out how they made use of electricity here probably didn't agree, so much. But on the plus side, when he put it together again with the help of a few other parts he'd found sitting around, it also doubled as a cellular phone. And a toaster.

After being here a week, Hermione was beginning to feel like she was settling back into things. Of course it would be different than it had been before; she wasn't living in the dorms, she wouldn't be attending classes like she used to, and she was going to have to get over the fact that she was teaching students who were not much younger than her. In fact, there was a chance some of them might be older. Still, there were classes she could take- ignore that one had involved cheating at gambling on week one- and Rikku was here along with a few others she recognized, and she didn't have to yell at anyone at all to be quiet in the common room while she tried to compose a letter home.

That was what she was doing now. She'd brought her things to the Perk just to sit and enjoy a cappucino and sit down and finally put everything from the week onto paper to send off. Explaining the Vikings was taking quite a while.

It was Isabela's third shift at the bar, the number suddenly seemed daunting. Somehow she'd managed to stumble upon the perfect hiding place, but she was starting to wonder if it was not too perfect. She couldn't stay here forever and she'd have to somehow try to make contact with someone in Kirkwall. Not that she knew how and maybe she would be able to think better if she could feel the lurch of a ship underneath her feet.

The Devil's Nest wasn't a ship, however. It very much remained still and so Isabela sat behind the counter, her feet propped up on a crate. She'd poured herself a glass of whiskey and pushed away the questions that weren't getting an answer right now. It was far more entertaining to think of the fun she had been having. Fandom was not without its diversions. Pretty diversions.

Something was going on in the kitchen today. Every so often, in between serving customers, Jack would go and check on what the noise was. The chef insisted that everything was fine, then proceeded to make even louder noises once Jack was out of the kitchen again.

The deep fryer was probably acting up. Knowing that could mean the deep fryer coming to life and having a mind of its own, or something creepy and gremliny getting into the wiring, Jack tried really hard not to think about it. He also tried not to think about why the kitchen smelled of ammonia. It was better to get back to work and occasionally look out the windows.

Oh, hey. It looked like rain.
