Of everyone who worked at Portalocity, Trick only knew Dugal. But he couldn't read the missive that the main office had sent out without getting a small lump in his throat. He'd seen enough doomed, heroic charges to know one when he saw one.

"Síocháin Deep na tonnta ag rith a thabhairt duit.
Síocháin Deep an aeir ag sileadh a thabhairt duit.
Síocháin Deep an domhain ciúin a thabhairt duit.
Síocháin Deep de na réaltaí ag taitneamh a thabhairt duit.
Síocháin Deep na síochána gan teorainn a thabhairt duit.
"

The ancient Gaelic prayer rose to his lips before he knew it and he set out decanters of fine Irish whiskey in their honor.

And also to help him get through the day when people heard that portals would be closed after tomorrow, but mostly for them.

Flipping the sign to 'open,' Trick waited for his first customers.

Bod was really hoping that working provided a distraction from everything that was going on. He hadn't heard from his own world but that wasn't a surprise. Ghosts really couldn't make calls but that didn't stop him from being fearful that his mother and his father and all his friends were just gone. He wanted to check but he wasn't sure if that was a good idea. The staff sensed his dilemma and left him alone while he cleaned the front area of the diner and got things set up to open.

Toby didn't really know if anyone would be in the mood for going to a restaurant with everything going on. On the other hand, the island's population had probably doubled or something with the influx of former residents, so maybe there would be a decent amount of business. Who knew?

TODAY'S SPECIAL:
10% FOR ALL RETURNED ALUMNI/FORMER RESIDENTS

Ben had been on his way to his job when his comlink beeped with an incoming message. He glanced at the number and didn't need to hear the message to know what it contained--he knew, as surely as he knew his name.

When he got to Stark Industries, he listened anyway.

The store was open, but don't expect a lot in the way of customer service today.

Eric suspected that more than a few people would be looking for a place to drown their sorrows tonight, and with the sun setting earlier now, he was happy to accomodate them by opening the club a few hours earlier than usual.

Because he wanted their money, not because he felt badly for them or anything.

Perish the thought.

Anakin was behind his other desk today, doing research about auditors.

So far he'd concluded that he really didn't want to piss off the IRS but he was pretty sure they couldn't make him disappear outright if he forgot to file his taxes.

Was Anakin ruthlessly compartmentalizing? You bet your ass he was.

Hope didn't want to be at work today, but she figured that going to work was better than sitting around her hotel room and worrying about things she couldn't change. Instead, she could sit around the store and worry about things she couldn't change.

Well, at least it was a change of scenery.

Besides, she couldn't very well leave Apu in charge. She did that, she'd likely come back to find the place completely redecorated in the worst color scheme known to man just to annoy her and the others.

And so she was behind the counter, looking restless.

Today's Squishy flavors: Banana, Blue, Cotton Candy.

This shit just wasn't good for Effy's carefully monitored state of calm.

Three days of portal cancellations, delays and reroutes and she’d finally been dumped at the causeway this morning. It was better all around (and for the sake of her ongoing sanity) if she continued not to think about what she’d left behind... or the lack, thereof, and certain other people who just weren’t fucking answering to anything, however much she called.

Her usual bench in Bristol probably didn’t exist anymore, so she’d chosen a Fandom counterpart for now, despite the chill. A place where she could sit, breathe, and watch the last hardy ducks. You could almost pretend the world wasn’t falling apart at the seams.

... Well. The ducks were still there. That was vaguely comforting.

[[Finally, I can post! The park is an open place, and she is botherable.]]

It seemed that even an Auditor could only spend so much time as an individual before they started acting like one. Or, even worse, thinking like one.

For Myria, that meant picking up some slightly burned grain product and staring at it for most of the evening. As though she could figure out why humans seemed so fond of taking in nutrients in the most inefficient manner possible.

Taste was far too abstract a concept for such a literal minded being as an Auditor.

She frowned, picking a small corner off of the slice of bread before sniffing at it. Smell was easy. Smell was something that simply happened. Taste... into her mouth the bit of toast went.

And 'thud' went Myria LeJean as she passed out from something she could not even begin to explain.

Nothing could stop the weekly iCarly broadcast. Not rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor heatwave. Not even having a giant argument with your best friend. Certainly not entire chunks of the multiverse vanishing. As long as there was a Carly, a Freddie, and a Sam, there would be an iCarly.

"T-Bo?" Sam tried. She'd been at this for ages already.

"Okay, now you're just stringing random syllables together!" said Carly.

"But who runs the Groovy Smoothie?"

"What's a Groovy Smoothie?"

"Good gracious, woman!" Sam grabbed the sides of the feed laptop and shook it. "Not the Groovy Smoothie!"

[ooc: OCD for this very special broadcast of iCarly is up!]

It wasn't bad enough that Sookie and Bill and Pam were all gone, and probably her little sister as well -- now Jessica couldn't get a hold of Eric. Or anyone at Fangtasia. Or Merlotte's. Or anyone in Bon Temps. She'd even tried to call Hoyt, which she'd been totally avoiding since she'd broken things off with him and run away to Fandom. Any number she called just got a recorded message that her call could not be connected as dialed.

She dragged herself to Caritas to open up the bar, but told Tino he'd be manning it tonight. She was just too upset and depressed to work herself.
