Today, when all the children awoke in their beds, they would discover a most joyous occasion! There was a carnival in town! A carnival just for them! All the rides and events were all child-safe and kid-friendly. Even the thematic decorations had become kiddified; no worries about nightmares from this little guy, huh? Didn't he look like fun? Don't you just want to give him a hug?

As for any remaining adults on the island, well...there was still a carnival, okay? Sure, the rides were a lot tamer and a lot brighter and you were possibly too tall to ride the them, but it was still a carnival! A carnival soon to be filled with the loud laughter of many, many children all hyped up on drinks and food that all listed 'sugar' as their prime ingredient!

Truly, this was a day of fun and laughter for all! And probably a night filled with headaches and belly-aches for most!

Huzzah!

Sure, with the advent of wee tinies, some of the booths in this section of the park had changed, but the spirit was still the same. Edible glitter and pictures of the huggable werewolf decorated the new and exciting hugging booths (cootie shots optional), dunk tanks (swimmies not optional), and pie tossing books. There were plenty of games and activities to be distracted by in the main carnival, and hopefully little attention spans would remember to head this way before their favorite targets left.

It was somehow even more glittery than it had been earlier in the evening, though there was still time for any latecomers to show before the moment you'd all been waiting for.

Well, after making a breakfast of a turkey and cheese sandwich and packaging some chocolate milk and Cheez-Its for later, Topher set off to do the thing that the alarm on his phone was telling him to do, which was to go to Stark Industries. It was closed, but he had a key on his keychain, so he let himself in, took in the layout of the place for all of a second, and then promptly scrambled to set up as many experiments as he could find.

It was like his own science castle! And it was a whole store and no one was gonna make fun of him and oooh what if he screwed that onto that and added a cool lens thingy to the top? Or better yet, what if he tried to build a calculator?

Yes. That was what he would be doing today. Building a calculator. And about a billion other things.

He lay down on his stomach on the floor in the middle of the shop surrounded by a pile of screws and got to calculatoring.

Caritas, Saturday

April had been very pleased to exit the carnival when her phone had beeped to let her know that there was something at Caritas she needed to do. The carnival was lame and boring and full of people who smelled weird, so she far preferred this air-conditioned bar, where another little boy was sticking straws in Kool-Aid pouches.

"You're doing that wrong, you know," she told him -- not precocious, just mean. "Pointy end first. That's why you keep hitting your finger."

"Shut up," little Tino mumbled to her, but he dutifully started switching the straws.

April hopped onto the bar and sat there, regal. That lasted about a minute before she turned back to Tino curiously. "You got any food?"

Inside the pantry (well, one of them):

"I do not have cooties. You have cooties." Dinah crossed her arms and pouted at Priestly. "And and and I could beat you at thumb wars!"

Someone's brilliant plan may have hit a snag.

Kitty hadn't known anything was up until she went to the Perk with her computer. There she'd found children behind the counter insisting they could make her coffee. Personally, she hadn't been that keen on kids making something hot that might burn them, so she'd just asked for a muffin and took her laptop outside to a table because good god was it loud in there.

And then one of the tiny baristas came out with a cup saying her coffee was ready before dashing back inside.

Kitty only worried about that until she picked up the paper cup and saw there was nothing in it. Pretend coffee. Nice.

[Open! Throw children at her.]

There were tiny little Shetland ponies in the paddock when Dani got to work. She wasn't entirely sure where they came from, but she had long ago realized that it was better not to ask. Besides, it seemed like good timing considering all the children she was running around this weekend.

Jono was, as of the moment he finally made his way down to the office at the Boards, blissfully unaware of any strangeness going on around the island today. He'd been up late last night properly disposing of what was left of the spiked punch that he'd been able to rescue, and had spent the majority of the morning attempting to sleep off the resulting... sugar crash.

Yes. Sugar crash.

His head still wasn't completely back to 100%, but he had come up with an idea for a haunted theatre, and so he was tabling any plans of a proper production this semester in favour of putting on a bunch of smaller-scale things until the new year.

Now, how many rubber rats was he going to need for this? Maybe he'd just order them in bulk...

Bo, having woken up her usual size, species, and gender (also without a horse in her bed), hadn't realized it was one of those weekends until she walked into the club and found a kid behind the bar. A kid who couldn't quite look her in the eye, but could see over the counter without standing on a crate.

"...Tiny?"

He answered by grabbing a walnut from the bowl on the counter and cracking the shell in the crook of his elbow.

"Right. Go handle the door. Stamp anybody who looks over ten."

Bo, meanwhile, had a year-old specials board to look for.

Worried that all the glitter on the island had been used up at the dance or at yesterday's festivities? Worry no more! Because today's brunch possibly featured more glitter than the previous two days combined, though someone very intelligent had made it so that most of the glitter was located on signs and posters conveniently located out of most children's reach. Because no one wanted kids eating glitter.

The music was wolf-themed but quiet and non-scary enough to be kid-friendly. Though maybe it hadn't been the best idea to overinflate those wolf-shaped balloons.

Live and learn.
