Sam had taken a big step today, but she was thrilled with her choice so far: she'd bought the office an espresso machine.

True, 'the office' consisted entirely of herself and Emily, and true, there was plenty of coffee just down the street at The Perk, but as far as she was concerned, working at Portalocity was a multiple-cups kind of job, and being able to have those multiple cups without closing the office temporarily was critical. So. Espresso machine it was.

For the next little while, Sam could be found determinedly assembling the damn thing, finding herself frustrated once more with confusingly counterintuitive twenty-first-century technology. Coffee machines back home weren't nearly this challenging to set up -- she was a technical specialist; she could set up a modern kitchen appliance in a heartbeat. At least, she was fairly sure about that.

William had spent the past few weeks researching lie detecting devices, and was finally ready to attempt assembling one on his own.

As per usual with most of his projects, he was careful to limit himself to the kinds of materials that would be readily available once he returned to his own time period. He was also, of course, taking extensive notes so that in case he couldn't bring the actual project back with him (assuming it worked), he'd be able to replicate it.

So, yes, Stark Industries is open, although potential customers might be roped into helping test the lie detector out.

In honor of Eponine, who had no idea about Jell-O shots, Kenzi was trying out new recipes.

So living on an island without any, you know, actual driveable streets meant Jake didn't get out in the GTO as often as he was used to. So, yeah, sometimes he came out to the parking lot to talk to it give it a wash (look, it accumulated a lot of dust just sitting there, okay) and maybe take it over to the mainland for a spin.

This time, though, something else caught his attention.

No, it wasn't that horrific black-and-yellow-minivan, but a black Chevy Impala.

"Nice," he couldn't help observing with an appreciative little grin. He still loved his own car best, of course, but that didn't mean he couldn't admire others, right?

[ooc: expecting one, but could be open, sure!]

Buffy was having fun with the blender tonight, experimenting with smoothie recipes. Nothing with alcohol in it though. Because she was no fun, apparently.

At least the blender noises drowned out the fact the DJ was playing Haddaway's "What Is Love" on repeat.
