"Assistant," Ron said, "Did I not tell you to ward all visitors away from my office?"

His assistant fiddled a bit. "I thought you might enjoy this one," she said.

The two men in yellow suits who stood before him gave a cheesy wave and even cheesier smiles that looked like they had been literally hewn from plastic. "We have a business proposition," one of them enthused.

"I see," Ron said. "Proceed."

"We want to make an investment in two of your local businesses. Moobyland and Taste of Thai," said the slightly less shifty one. "We would also like to talk about further development of your..." He glanced down at his wrist. "...Unexplored? Unexplored Wooded Area. But that can wait."

"I don't understand why you are coming to me," Ron said, after a long pause. "Government has no place interfering in the free market."

"Your predecessor thought differently," the less-shifty one said. "There was paperwork."

Ron shivered.

"The Hyperion Corporation would appreciate your cooperation in this matter."

"Please?!" his shiftier friend added, giving Ron enormous puppy dog eyes.

"Of course," Ron said. "Why, I'm appalled there's this-- paperwork--" Shiver. "To begin with."

Somewhere, a small chicken shivered, tucked its face into its feathers, and rushed across the land bridge.

Typically when Flick went into town, he went with the intention of picking up some new things from unsuspecting townspeople. He hadn't had a real need to do that lately since he was still living off the payment from the last bit he'd turned in. So, today's trip into town was mostly just to get out of his room and not be a hermit for a little while.

Of course, he considered turning around and going back home when the guy behind the counter had actually started singing Silent Night at him when he'd gone to order some coffee. Flick had mostly stared and taken his coffee. But, proving he was still a human being underneath all that cynicism, he'd left a tip for the singing. It hadn't been that bad even if he wasn't one who tended to get into the Christmas spirit.

Flick took his coffee and found a seat at the table. He kicked his feet up into an empty chair and leaned back, taking a few sips to warm up. The guy behind the counter started singing Little Drummer Boy. Flick looked back, shook his head and went back to his coffee.

Maddie was at work and very focused on checking through lists of charities today. This was mostly due to the fact that she'd burst into a chorus of 'White Christmas' upon walking in the door and figured if she kept to herself, at the very least maybe she could pretend no one would notice if she ended up singing again.

Stupid town.

Tino gave Kenzi a dirty look, but was pelted with tinsel, so wisely kept his opinion of her singing choices to himself.

So, it'd been bad enough when Roland had to skip busking yesterday (involuntary mittens and stringed instruments don't mix well). Now, as he walked along, he had to dodge randomly caroling townspeople.

It'd be less creepy if some of them didn't look either freaked out or resigned when they burst into song at him.

He hadn't been planning to start into the holiday music just yet (there was just so much of it that was so terrible that he liked to put it off as long as his audience would let him), but even when he started out trying to sing something nice off of "The Joshua Tree", he ended up doing a cover of Bono's "Baby Please Come Home".

He was slowly beginning to realize that the island itself might just be his most insistent audience. And if it wanted Christmas music, it was apparently going to get them, whether Roland liked it or not.

Since it was colder, Hanna decided to dress a mannequin up in the finest winter gear she could find. Her idea of winter gear consisted of a cashmere hat and scarf set, leather gloves, suede boots, and a big high-end purse. Hopefully there wouldn't be a surprise blizzard...or a ski trip.

She was inexplicably singing Christmas carols off and on. Well, why not?

Cade was hard at work (really. for once.) on a Blu-Ray player that had eaten a disk when the sudden, overwhelming urge to sing came over him:

"I'm dreaming of a whiiiiiite Christmas--"

When the song was over, Cade glared at the ceiling. "It's not even my karking holiday!!"

Stark's was open. And begrudgingly festive.

Drac was out and just sitting on a bench and enjoying the night air. He didn't get out enough, he decided. It was a beautiful town and the humans were pleasant enough.

Of course Drac's idea of a 'pleasant human' was any one that wasn't trying to burn him and his family.

And the singing... "Cete de colindători?" Was it really the holiday season already? It reminded him of home in a good way, even if he didn't recognize the songs, and he smiled as he leaned back and relaxed.

Yes, relaxed. There! See? A strand of hair fell out of place and he didn't even fix it!
