Bay was rather preoccupied when she got to work today. She'd gotten permission from the office moose to take an art class at one of the mainland universities, and she was going to spend the few days before her first class alternately spazzing from excitement ... and spazzing because she was convinced she'd make a fool of herself in front of the college kids.

Midway through the morning, she glanced to her side and noticed another girl with long brown hair, looking rather ill and sneezing over her mug of tea.

"Oh hey," she said. "New kitchen staff? Y'know, if you're sick you should probably stay home."

The girl didn't answer, even when Bay waved a hand in front of her face. She just kept coughing in between sips of tea,

Bay shrugged it off as another weird kitchen staff prank and went to wipe off some tables. When she made it back to the counter, the girl had left as silently as she arrived.

"Creeeeeepy," Bay decided softly.

On her way in to work this morning, Éponine passed by a young man in British naval uniform. It was particularly remarkable to her, because she recognized the style from various paintings and illustrations back home and -- out of habit from back when she used to believe her father's claims of serving under Napoleon and considered herself a staunch Bonapartist (not that she really had any clue what that meant) -- paused to eye him suspiciously.

He smiled at her in passing, and she hadn't been expecting that, but then he disappeared before she even had time to register any surprise.

Perhaps something was going on after all, or perhaps she really was just seeing things again. It could go either way.

Kitty had spent most of her day getting tax stuff done in her office so that her employees could get their stuff done and also because she'd get in trouble if she didn't get W-2's out.

You had no idea how happy she was to be behind the bar where she could talk to people and not do paperwork. She'd still leave at some point before her shift was over, but still, so happy
