There was fruit in the repair shop today again -- raspberries in one corner, apples dribbling from a ceiling vent at irregular intervals. Cosima tried to work around it for a while, but after she opened an iPhone case and found a full-sized kiwi fruit inside, she decided work today probably was not meant to be. She spent the day playing 20 questions with Jarvis instead.

Last week, Alana's work shift had led to a very nice evening with Dante. This week ... who knew where it would lead? Even if she didn't get an exact repeat (which frankly seemed unlikely), the memory was enough to get her to go to work and attack the usual store-cleaning and book-shelving tasks with a spirit of optimism.
