Wow, there was a lot of cleanup to do today. The animal shelter had fared pretty decently over the weekend, what with Zack pretty much standing guard over it with a sword and a few good Materia, but the surrounding area was a mess of shark bits and debris from the storm, and the chicken coop had blown entirely away in the wind. Fortunately he'd brought the birds inside before the hurricane had even started, but there was still a lot of work to be done besides.

One of the puppies that Karla had left here was tagging along at Zack's heels today as he pulled plywood back off of windows and did the smelly, heavy work of heaving sharks into a dumpster before going to investigate just how much work was going to be necessary to re-build that chicken enclosure on the roof.

Zack didn't mind when weird creatures attacked the island, but he'd never much been a fan of the cleanup. Why couldn't monsters here just disappear the way they did back home, anyway?

Come in to work, check around for damage, pull the boards down from the windows, and then get to work watering the plants and feeding the fish.

Nathan would say he was disappointed that his shift today was so straightforward, but really, he'd be lying. There were a few arrangements that hadn't fared well when the power went out and took the refrigeration units with it, but besides a couple of armloads of wilted flowers, the place seemed to be doing alright.

... Maybe he could dry those or something. There were worse things to use dead flowers for than potpourri.

It was pretty amazing what one little man with a little toolbox could accomplish if he set his mind to it. The fixes and repairs that the Merchant of Miracles had cobbled together for the store weren't the best..in fact, they looked absolutely awful and not even remotely sustainable...but they worked, somehow, in defiance of all laws of physics and gravity. It looked like one small errant sigh or an accidental brush up-against would make the whole thing crash down to the floor again, but...they held. They held surprisingly well.

The aesthetics of it, however, was something that even the Merchant would agree needed some improvement. So he was busy at the counter today, going through his heavy book of contacts, prowling the names for someone who might potentially owe him enough of a favor that they could come in and do it for him fast and cheap.

He consulted, of course, with the unicorns. "The troll guild? Nah, they work too slow, takes them a whole day just to make one decision, and even then, it's the decision on whether or not they're ready to decide! Anyone in Daventry's right out, they've been working on that Floating Island for ages and it still looks like crap. Hmmm, hmmm, let's see...those squirrels of Avalon are pretty industrious. I wonder if Princess Madeline has it in with any of these squirrels here, maybe she could pull some strings, get us a nice little squirrel construction dealio goin' on..."

Too bad Princess Madeline didn't particularly care for the Merchant of Miracles. That silly squirrel had some serious strudel-related hang-ups.

Summer...really didn't know what to do right now. Tuesday, of course, was her usual work day, and while Needful Things didn't seem to have incurred as much damage as some places on the island (like her damn bedroom!), it was still looking pretty rough. Should she stick around and help? Did she technically have the day off? There was no sign of Lady Ghanima around at the moment, so she really wasn't sure.

Well. She was here. They were still finishing up the work on their blasted through wall. She didn't have anything else to do, so she could perhaps start cleaning up a little, picking through the stock to find out what was still salvageable and what was pretty much going to be absolute garbage...unless they could spin it a certain way to probably some hipsters as 'deconstructed' or 'weathered' or 'distressed.'

Anything that Summer approached that was shark-related somehow was still in tact, but they all seemed to 'accidentally' fall off the shelves.

"Whoops. Oh, man, look at that, more obviously storm damage and not at all anything else. What a mess...so sad."

Needful Things is open!

Kitty had spent the last two days working on cleaning up, and dealing with insurance, and budgeting. It was an actual relief to be behind the bar, even if she wasn't sure anyone would be in.

And yet she was behind the bar, watching episodes of Rehab Addict on her phone and occasionally looking at the floors, muttering, "I could probably do that..."

So their house was trashed. Even disregarding the structural and water damage, there was blood, shark- and Eliot-, everywhere, and not a small amount of guts (at least one shark had apparently exploded on impact with the place, Eliot's garden was completely toast) that still needed cleaning up. All told, the Leverage team was considering whether they wanted to fix the place back up, or cut their losses and just buy another place somewhere on the island (and then fix the old one up, they weren't assholes, but they could take their time with it and not have to live out of a hotel room that way).

More important than all that, though: it was Hardison's 30th birthday. And there was no way that Eliot and Parker would let that just go by without some sort of acknowledgment. Say, in the form of an empty-warehouse-party. Full of all the amenities an empty-warehouse-party needed, like loud music, flashing lights, glow paint -- it was possible that Eliot and Parker had just kind of thrown their hands up on what a modern party should look like and thrown a 90s rave, yes -- and plenty of food, including a good chunk of the stock from Luke's that hadn't been ruined when that had gotten sharked. Most of the NPC staff was in attendance already, both in honor of Hardison and because it beat the hell out of helping out with the clean up efforts back at the diner, and the front doors were thrown open wide with signs all up and down the street to let anyone who wanted to wander in know they were welcome as well.

And if no one did wander in? Well. It was already a decent party, anyway. For one thing, there was a minimal amount of leftover shark on the menu. . . .

[open to any and all, SP totally welcome!]
