New shipment day, new shipment day! Jono's favourite time of all! New CDs to put on the CD shelf! New strings and picks, rosin, and drumsticks to go with the supplies! And an entire box of--

...

Hm.

Jono squinted at the contents, and then rolled his eyes toward the ceiling. He was pretty sure there was no way he could possibly sell fifty Otamatones, but he supposed now that they were here, it wasn't as though he had much of a choice.

And then, because it wasn't like he had anything better to do after pricing and stocking the shelves, he was going to spend the rest of his day trying to figure out what song out there he could possibly play that wouldn't be an utter nightmare on the thing. So far he was finding that the best results came from songs that were already a little bit ridiculous in the first place.

After about a half hour of this, he stopped, stared at the stupid instrument in his hand, and just kind of shook his head.

//How did this become my life?//

Sparkle came in twenty minutes late for his usual Sunday shift, looking dissheveled and a bit annoyed, wearing a tricorn pirate hat and with a toy parrot on his shoulder.

The less said about his Portalocity stopover on his way in to work this morning, the better.

He put the hat onto one of the mannequins, stepped back outside for a few minutes, and lit himself a much-needed smoke.

The parrot could stay.

Kanan stepped into the diner today for his shift and immediately had to duck, lest he take a flying pancake to the face.

He stood up slowly, one eyebrow raised.

The staff all froze.

"Who did that?"

The staff all pointed at one another.

Kanan looked around the room. Pancakes. Everywhere.

"Well, you'll all clean this up before any customers arrive, or I'll be burying you under them."

"There aren't enough pancakes for you to bury us all under them, you know," the busboy pointed out.

"I meant they'll be used to mark a shallow grave out back."

The staff quickly got to work cleaning up the mess.

Today's Specials:
Pork Chops with Caramelized Apple Cream Sauce
Green Fiddlehead Fern Salad
Meringue Roulade with Rose Petals and Fresh Raspberries
Pancakes available upon request!

Kanan eyed the specials board, not completely trusting it, but settled in for a day at work all the same.

Sure, Amaya had gotten used to coming into the shop and finding something surprising, and if she thought about it, she supposed she might have expected this one, but, still, it was a bit of a shock to step into Turtle & Canary that Sunday and find the place nearly littered with a various bits of macramé art. Which had apparently all been made by Apu over the last few days. When prompted for an explanation, he simply shrugged and said he had merely taken into account the suggestion that they learn about it before Wednesday.

"...are you even participating in the summer camp activities?" Amaya asked.

He wasn't. He just wanted to practice anyway. He said he wanted to give it a try and see what all the fuss was about, and once he started, he couldn't stop. And so now they had a store with an apparently soon-to-be-topical specific theme.

Which would explain the big "Half Off All Macramé Art" sign that was up in the window within the hour. And maybe Amaya finally got around to tossing up the "Now Hiring!' sign up there, too, just in the off chance any of the newer faces on the island were interested in some employment. Meanwhile, she was just going take one of those creepy macramé owls and...reverse engineer how it was made. Yeah, that was it.

Today's Squishy Flavors

"Lads," Edward said, squinting upwards towards the tallest mast. "It's been almost a week."

"I don't care," the thin, limber man sitting at the very top bellowed. "If there's another storm comin', I want us to be ready!"

With a sigh, Edward looked towards the nearest deckhand. "It wasn't that bloody bad, was it?"

"There were rainbows," the deckhand said gravely. "And Grim, well-- he'd been pissin' off the side of the ship, if you get my meaning."

There was a brief but pregnant silence, and then Edward turned on his heel and stalked towards the bow of the ship. "Might ask the mayor for one of those port-a-potties while we're marooned here," he muttered to himself.
