Astrid had spent...no, wasted...forty-five minutes, nearly an hour of her time there at the shop trying to search every nook and cranny for the source of the meowing she started to hear about half-way through her shift. She was convinced that maybe some momma cat had sneaked in and found some nice warm spot underneath a rhododendron or something to have her kittens, but nope. It was just an arrangement of cattails and pussy-willows toward the back of the store.

She was honestly a little mad at herself because of course that's what it would be.

And hopefully Peter wouldn't mind that she left the shop briefly to get some milk to pour into a saucer and offer to them, which worked well to quiet them down.

God damn this place.

When Zack stepped into the animal shelter today, all of the animals were wearing hats. All of them. The kittens had little bonnets and the puppies were wearing little bowler hats. The birds were sporting snappy berets. The fish had big floppy sun hats.

Zack looked at the vet questioningly. She shrugged.

They were both going to just agree to blame this one on Fandom. They didn't seem to be hurting anything, anyway.

Okay, there were no surprise monkeys this week, and the cards weren't doing any tricks. Norman was actually almost afraid of what he might encounter this week in the magic shop.

The answer, of course, was nothing.

Not that there was nothing out of the ordinary. There was, in fact, something very out of the ordinary. When he stepped into the shop, the shelves were all bare.

It wasn't until he flailed a bit and tried to figure out if they'd been robbed or if it was just Fandom being weird that he realized the stock wasn't gone, it was just hiding. It had all retreated to the back, to hide in the storeroom, and it needed to be coaxed back out with gentle words about how it was all perfect just the way it was, and everything would find where it really belonged if it only gave the world a chance.

One by one, all of the stock items crept out from the back room and took their spaces on the shelves again, apparently feeling better.

Norman, meanwhile, sat behind the counter, kind of exhausted after the whole ordeal. Sheesh.

The zombies had fully embraced their country phase, and it was driving Kitty nuts. It wasn't her taste in music, but but she was fine with them expressing themselves. Except that they kept stopping and retrying things in an effort to get even twangier.

This was all Zombie Yoko's fault. Had to be.

Anyway, Kitty was here and considering earplugs!

[Open, no OCD!]

Mitsutada had some particular whims today as he dictated what was going to be made in the kitchen on special today.

Today's Specials
Okonomiyaki
Pineapple Curry Fried Rice
Fish Tacos

Okay, whims was probably the best term, as opposed to being particular. Mainly Mitsutada was relieved that this week, his class would have a guest that wasn't going to try and scare anyone or share a particularly traumatic backstory. Thank goodness.

Luke's was open! and ocd-free.

Ino had sent an island-wide text to the beach: Firework party at the beach tonight!

She and Reno hadn't really had to do much past that. It wasn't a birthday party, or a surprise party, and the beach and the fireworks would be more than enough decoration for a spur of the moment thing like this.

There was pizza (of all kinds), chips, soda, and Reno'd been good to his word for grabbing a few cases of beer and coolers. She'd brought a couple of blankets and lawn chairs down to the beach for people who didn't think ahead to bring their own.

Groovy Tunes had been cheerfully ransacked (she'd left Jono a sticky note asking permission) and so music was blaring out over the beach, inviting people to come on down if her text message hadn't been enough for them.

Even if no one else showed up, it was going to be a good time. Explosions, music, food, and fun were going to happen no matter what.

[PARTY FOR ALL! Please wait for the OCD is up, up and away!]

Hannibal was here this week with his tablet, just in case, and a refrigerator full of food, along with a few chemical implements so he could check the composition of things if he needed to.

Reno.

He sat and waited for people to show up with their ingredients.

[Class is open to all! Please drop by and give this guy some ingredients.]
