Community projects like the one being promoted with today's assembly were a great thing. Community projects where Shunsui could participate without having to do anything extra than what he would normally do on a Wednesday were even better.

Apu-san seemed far less enthusiastic about the prospect, feeling fairly paranoid that whatever they wound up doing would actually be terrible and cause more harm than good, but he was clearly just being cynical and overdramatic. What could a group of kids with good intentions possibly do to this place that the island and time and various other factors hadn't already put it through over the years?

A sentiment that just earned Shunsui a sort of withering look, because it was that kind of thinking that would likely lead to them getting a resounding answer to a question like that.

Caritas; Wednesday [09/23].

When Summer got into the bar for her shift that evening (and still feeling sore from hiking and gun-toting and planning to practically live in the onsen tomorrow), it appeared that whatever situation was going on with the actual alcohol had not been fixed because someone couldn't turn down a good set-up, and she was faced with iced tea and seltzer and now apparently lemonade for the clear liquors, too. Curious as to what that meant for the jello shots she'd brought in (spoiler alert: just regular cider to not mess up the recipe too much for the one, who even knew with the other?), she experimented by having Apu bring over a bottle of something from the store, which was fine when poured outside the door, but as soon as she brought it in...iced tea.

"Yeah," she said, "that's a problem."

Hopefully one that would work itself out before the weekend, because that would be one hell of a weekend for something like that to happen, or before literally every table in the place was flipped.

Meanwhile, Summer figured she could at least try to make the best of the situation with a terrible idea:

Community Center Class: Modern Earth Entertainment - Wednesday, 09/23.

Another Wednesday, another Movie Night, and another attempt by Amaya to stay a little more on theme with the assembly from earlier that day, on account of the fact that her efforts to go off of it last week had lead to less than enjoyable results (from her point of view, anyway).

"Welcome back, everyone," Amaya adressed the class as a whole once everyone had gotten their snacks and some of their mingling in. "Since the school had focused on cleaning and redecorating the island a bit in preparation for the visitors this weekend, I figured I'd dredge up a film that's sort of on the same topic, although a little more focused on a house. Now, for those of you who are actually here to expand your knowledge of modern Earth entertainment tropes and themes, this here's sort of a comdey-drama with some rom-com elements added to it, which I'm personally not a big fan of, and as a craftsman, there's a lot of this film that I find frustrating, but, honestly, I'm a little worried about what I'd get instead if I tried to go for something I find a little more palatable, so we're sticking with this just to be on the safe side."

And, with that, the lights were dimmed and the movie could begin.

Decorate the island for Parents' Weekend?

Nina was so down for that which was why, after the assembly, she could be found down at The Bookbelt, with an absolutely ridiculous pile of stencils and paint options.

It didn't take long to clean the building and then she white-washed the whole thing.

Nina wasn't much of an artist. Her spell diagrams were certainly beautiful and complex but they weren't the same as having artistic talent. Besides, like hers lay in writing and this was a bookstore.

So around the door she had yesterday is history, in English; tomorrow's a mystery, in German; and today is a gift, that's why it's called the present, in French.

After that, both her quotes and her languages got more varied as she expanded the lettering across the entirety of her shop. A room without books is like a body without a soul was done in Swahili. In Japanese she had: When I have a little money, I buy books; and if I have any left, I buy food and clothes. Spanish got: rainy days should be spent at home with a cup of tea and a good book. French and German got their own book-related quotes too before she spent some time using languages that weren't from this universe at all before she went back to English with: Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.

Then she went on and on and on…

After all, Nina knew books and Nina knew languages. This was easy. This was fun…

This was going to take a while.

The Bookbelt is Open! But mostly for decorating.

Fandom Trooper Station, Wednesday

Danny was supposed to be recovering at home. But then there was a phone call from the troopers about something going on that needed the attention of a detective.

Which. You know. Was a lie.

Because it was because of the weird decorating thing going on and none of them wanted to explain it to Liam.

On the plus side, this time the pastries were provided to him.

The Park; During the Assembly. Wednesday [09/23].

Elli and Astrid (and whoever else would like to join them!) had decided that they would take on cleaning up and decorating the park in particular, which may have seemed like a big tasks, but they already had plenty of ideas, and had found the means to put them into action, from ribbons and streamers around the trees and intertwined in the chains on the swingset, to painting the playground equipment and the benches bright and exciting, inviting colors, to lanterns on the base of the trees and paper ones to hang in some of the branches.

There was a lot of potential for decorating the park, but these two had more than enough ideas to really get it done, and Astrid, taking charge for a change as one of the apparent denoted Style Gurus for this particular project, just mostly hoped the ducks and flamingos would appreciate the efforts.

The beach- Wednesday morning

Duke had already let Rey know that he wouldn't be back yet, so she wasn't worried there. (Much.) But after getting back from a trip home that had been full of walking and carrying and so much more walking, she actually felt like yoga would be a very good thing today. Sure, she could do that at home, but it was nice out, and why not.

So she headed to the beach like normal, same time as always, and started in on her routine. Maybe she'd throw in some inverted poses, just because.

The Lighthouse; During the Assembly, Wednesday [09/23].

No, Freya wasn't one of the chosen Style Gurus for this week's assembly, but she did have quite a few idea and the ability to make it up on top of things that most other people couldn't reach easily. And the lighthouse was one of her favorite places to leap around the island, so it just stood to reason that she would take it upon herself to clean and decorate it, especially since she could get to the top of it with one single smooth bound.

So, yes, we all had Fandom's resident Burmecian dragon knight to thank for the fact that there was now a big giant silver and red bow on the top of the lighthouse.

Freya had placed it easily, and then hopped down and a good few feet away so she could look up at it, hand to her chin as she decided how it looked and whether or not it was on nice and centered.

Dite's Decadent Delights, Wednesday

With the call from Alluka yesterday, there was no way Kathy was missing out on heading to the island to help tidy up. Poppy the giant metal chicken statue out front was getting polished and then bedecked. The outside of the building was getting power-washed (especially if she could convince Dante to come and help) and the landscape trimmed. And the inside was going to be so scrubbed down that even Barry could be convinced to eat off the furniture.

...Possibly.
