somethingwithturquoise: (doubtful summer is doubtful)

As much as she hated to admit it, those dancing pumpkin people and skeletons had a way of moving that was oddly distracting, where you really couldn't help but watch in morbid fascination and...well...bewilderment.

Which was not good because Summer had a lot of work to day that morning, especially since she'd since discovered that Thursday hadn't actually been a fluke, and Shunsui had missed his class because Shunsui wasn't even here right now, and he had failed to tell her entirely and the only reason she was aware of it now was because his lieutenant was way better at covering his ass than he could ever be himself.

So she told the pumpkin dudes and the skeletons that they couldn't just come in here if all they were going to do was dance, she was pretty sure the troopers would love to have the chance to bust some holiday-themed trespassers for loitering, so every half hour or so, one of them would purchase some gum or some candy or some bits of cheese recommended by the panda so that could prove they weren't loitering, they were just taking their time in deciding what to buy and dancing in the meantime because that's just what they did.

They were sales, though, and so Summer couldn't even be that mad about it, and tried to get through her work and her orders regardless of the distraction. And occasionally posting videos of it to across her socials, because seriously.

Rosa was honestly hoping to just finish up with a few last minute things for the start of her class's Halloween Heist tomorrow, but it would appear that her clients had other plans.

'Clients,' apparently, because when she told the pumpkin-headed people in way-too-tightly-fitting black to leave unless they had business, they stayed to try and explain that they did have business, and they were now trying to explain what their case was through nothing more than interpretive dance.

It was...not going well, and Rosa was deeply wishing she'd thought of filling one of her desk drawers with booze much, much earlier.

It was a learning experience, this freelance stuff...

Yeah, yeah, Beau already knew it was one of those weeks, which was why she wasn't complaining too much (out loud anyway) about having to dodge around the dancing pumpkin people on her way between the Perk and the gym when she was holding a large cup of coffee she didn't want to spill -- good a way as any to try and fine tune some of the Cool Monk Shit and see if she could do some fancy moves without spilling (much of) the coffee.

Most of it was still intact by the time she got to work, which she was counting as a win.

Having to chase dancing skeletons away from the treadmills because they were dancing around with cups of orange and black glitter, though? That she was going to complain about, loudly.

"-- put the maintenance bill on your fucking tab if glitter gets inside the treadmills, and... would you even have a fucking tab? I don't know. OUT, or I will take my damn payment in your finger bones."

They at least moved outside to the sidewalk, so Beau ended up putting up a sign that said SHOWER FIRST IF YOU GOT GLITTERED ON YOUR WAY IN.

What else were you gonna do, man.

"Yes ma'am," Steve said, nodding into the phone. "Yes. Yes. Yes, the dancing pumpkin people are pretty disturbing today, but I'm not sure they, strictly speaking, count as trespassers. I'll send a couple of Troopers over anyway to check for you."

Ralph and Calvin were shaking their heads emphatically to not be the ones sent out again. This was the tenth call this morning. Steve pointed to them, then to the door anyway.

The sulked their way out of the station.

Just another normal October day in Fandom, Steve supposed.

The dancing pumpkin people and skeletons were - by far - the worst one of these, yet. Annie had at least gotten used to the idea that maybe her shower would spew pumpkin spice latte, maybe there would be brooms everywhere, maybe her cupboards were full of pumpkins - fine.

But this was very strange. Why were their clothes so form-fitting? Why wouldn't they stop dancing?

She had largely resigned herself to ignoring them, instead starting her evening out with asking Tiny to show her how to make a martini. She was then content to spend the remainder of the night nursing her various attempts and trying not to look at the dancing, mute pumpkin and skeleton people (who were totally dancing here in the bar, yes.)

Nell had to admit she found the dancing pumpkin people rather disturbing, but it turned out that they were pretty good at putting spooky touches on their Halloween orders.

So, figuring that if she couldn't beat them she should join them, Nell turned on some music and danced along too. When dancing skeletons showed up she just shrugged and invited them in.
