Sure, Astrid was at work. But she wasn't exactly working.

And, sure, sometimes there just wasn't a whole lot to do at the store regardless, but she at least tended to put in an effort. By this point in the week, though, even her own apparent numbness to emotions wasn't enough to damper the effects of everything and the party last night had really started to sway her.

So she wasn't working, she was just drawing, intently, curved almost entirely over her sketchbook with her hair creating a curtain between herself and the world as she filled an entire sketchbook with various faces, pieces of faces, plenty of lips, eyes, the smooth curve of someone's neck, the impressive chiseled nature of a certain former quarterback's muscles that were now pretty much burned into her brain, the incredible way hair caught in the lights of the sixth floor common room, the swell of a breast, the slope of a shoulder...

Practice. It was all just practice.

It was important for an artist to keep up practice, right?

You know, when one managed to not expose themselves to a full week of this island's nonsense, it wasn't half bad! Amaya was actually feeling incredibly proud of herself, and in how she felt she was really rising above it, she'd certainly been doing a good job of ignoring a few texts that had hit her phone that she absolutely wasn't thinking about constantly. Nope! Not her! Not Amaya Blackstone! She was tough and didn't believe in this sort of thing and could power through it all just fine, all she needed was the blazing heat of the forge in her face, the sweat dripping down her back, as she hammered away at her steel until her breath was gone and her arms were sore and her face flushed red from the exertion.

Yup! Totally rising above this! Not even the least bit bothered!

...the small mountain of aggressively forged swords that just kept building, however, would like to beg to differ.

But Amaya would like to point out that, sure, maybe she wasn't actually rising above her more baser impulses right now as well as she tried convincing herself that she was, but...she would like to think that at least this was more productive than....that would be.

She would like to point that out, but she wouldn't. Because she actually wasn't so sure about that right about now.

Trooper Station, Friday

For all the importance Liam placed on being in control, he did enjoy this week when it came around (heh) every year. Perhaps because he had someone he trusted implicitly to work through it with him. Well, two someones, really, because Dominic lived close enough that when he and Verity went to visit, that pollen hadn’t yet had time to flush from their systems.

In any case, sex pollen or not, he did still have a job to do. So he was here, very studiously doing it and not, you know, either of the people he’d rather be doing. Which was absolutely frustrating, but he also was looking forward to what tomorrow would bring enough that it kinda brought down the frustration levels to something more tolerable.

Prom 2021, Community Center, Friday Evening

In the Student Council's defense, having "spring" be the base of the prom theme came up before there was pollen ravaging the air. Were they fully leaning into it now? Of course--welcome to your pastel-colored, glitter-covered steampunk-in-spring prom!

The Community Center had been decorated with all things steampunk - gears, wires, random shiny bits with glass in them - intertwined with flowers and vines and all covered with shiny pastel paint. (The non-shiny paint was buried too far back of the supply closet and really, was it even worth searching for?)

The food and punch were as normal as anything could be with all the pollen floating around, so hopefully you were just here to dance--tastefully, please.

The Devil's Nest, Friday Night

Lucifer had honestly debated whether to come back today; he'd planned to, and then started waffling again, because Duke, and...

Well, Duke had finally made that decision himself, and so they'd both returned to the island. Too late for the pollen to do anything to Lucifer, but it was clearly still out and about.


Tiny was already lining up the ingredients for a Sex on the Beach when he came in. Lucifer threw a glance at the specials board, and said, "No, I don't think we will."
