x_discospider_x: (leaning away intrigue)

Usually, when a shipment of stock came in, there wasn't much of a problem. Troy went ahead and signed for them, they left the boxes, and then he had the task of actually putting them away, either on the floor or in the back room, no big deal, right?

But every once in a while, something like this showed up, and he wasn't really sure what he should do because it was obviously a mistake.

Unless Tisarwat meant to order a bunch of rainbow-colored toy xylophones pretty much for babies.

Wait. Had she meant to have them in last week in time for everyone turning into kids, and they were just late?

But how would she know that was going to happen?

Was his boss psychic?

(DON'T tell him it wasn't entirely possible around here!)

Either way, he was now convinced that it wasn't a mistake and that it had been intentional, even if the jury was still out on whether or not it had anything to do with last weekend. So now he was making a nice toy xylophone section near the regular ones, and maybe he brought one back over to the counter to sort of dabble at here and there between customers, but, you know, as a joke.

Groovy Tunes is open!

Ignis knew the lesson for today was going to be a big risk, but, so help him, he kept finding himself feeling reluctantly optimistic that, maybe, just maybe, this might be the lesson where everything finally fell into place and he started seeing improvement over the repeated mistakes he kept seeing some of his students make time and time again.

He was, after all, a patient man, though perhaps that patience was wearing thing. Perhaps this was one last effort to keep true to the spirit of the class without compromise, before finally giving in and focusing on recipes that even a child would be able to execute with far better success rate than this class.

"One of the most ubiquitous and convenient foods out there, especially around here and in this culture," he began, and then let out a slight sigh before continuing, the sort of sigh a man made when he knew he was likely about to make a huge mistake but was going to do it anyway, "is pizza. There are many excellent options out there in the realm of pizza, though it's a bit of a catch-22. The ones regarded with any sort of quality can be quite a strain on one's budget, and the ones that are cheap are usually quite terrible for you when consumed in excess. Thankfully, making a pizza at home can be one of the easiest things to do, provides you with the opportunity to make it precisely as you like, and usually winds up being quite a bit heartier and more filling than their take-out conterparts. And so that is what I would like to focus on today.

"Now, obviously, making pizza dough from scratch is optimal, but since we are focusing on convenience and time with this course, we will be using pre-made dough."

And also because the thought of teaching this class about perfecting pizza dough was literal nightmare fuel for Ignis.

"This cuts out a significant amount of time, and, from there, it is simply a matter of building it with your sauce, cheese, and toppings, then into..." Excuse him a moment to steel himself, "the over, where we will take excpetional care to pay attention to the heat and the time it is in there to prevent turning out pizzas into black burning discs of failure."

A pointed pause, a lift of his eyebrow. Certainly not directed at anyone in particular, no.

"Won't we? Now, building it is simple. You simply choose your sauce, spread it evenly and generously around the crust, and then the toppings and cheese of your choice. Simple enough, right? But there may be more to truly making an excellent pizza at home, which will include the following tips, so please, pay heed and take note:

"If you have the time, preheating the surface of your pizza pan will yeild excellent results, and, if available to you, a heavier material is best. You can do this merely by preheating both surface and oven together if you are short on time. Parchment paper is also an excellent resource, as it will help make it easier to remove your pizza without it getting burned onto the surface of your pan. High temperatures are...unfortunately...optimal, especially when one considers how hot a pizza oven at a restaurant is likely to be...but do keep an eye on it so that it does not burn so easily. If you're including a protein that you are cooking before hand, be sure to undercook it, as it will cook a little more with the pizza, and then you do not have burned meats on an otherwise well-cooked pizza. And though the temptation may be strong to load your pizza up as much as possible, you will find that a sparser distribution of toppings will lead to a more even bake as well as a more balanced final product. And, finally, at the very end, do not be afraid to add seasonings or a little drizzle of oil at the end, as it will be an easy and effectie way to elevate your pizza to the next level."

And with that, he considered the classroom with a bit of wary anticipation.

"Any questions? If not... I think we may be ready to..." Gods save them all, "...begin."

The day had been a fairly productive one so far, a lot of things had been crossed off the to-do list. And Dwight had a road trip coming up that he couldn't deny he was more than just a little excited, and very very ready for.

After a trip to T&C for a few supplies, Dwight decided to stop to get some ice cream. After the Wee-Tiny weekend he was still craving ice cream. Nothing as sickeningly loaded as the sundae mini-him had indulged in, but something sweet none the less.

So there he sat with a sensible hot fudge sundae in front of him as he took a seat by the front window so he could people watch while he enjoyed his ice cream treat.

Bartending! Just like old times! Except with zombies, for some reason!

Laszlo hadn't noticed the stage when he'd been in on Tuesday, but today it caught his attention and was filed away for a future use. Perhaps he could track down a keyboard, even!

He was also now accompanied by a camera man and a female boom mic operator who both trailed him around the bar as he got ready for his first shift, but aside from addressing the camera occasionally, Laszlo paid them no attention. This was clearly normal, even if he probably ought to have put more thought into who had known where he'd gone and sent them, along with his case of antique porn.

In any case, Caritas was open, and Laszlo was totally prepared to fetch all your normal human drinks.

Or to make Tino do it, anyway.

Billy had been on the island for a little while now. He had a place to stay. And not he evidently also had a place to work... manage even. His experienced running a business was essentially nill, but Billy was still going to make the most of it and do what he could.

The had entailed doing a handwavey inspection of the shop last week. Today the focus was on cleaning up, figuring out if there was anything there still suable, working up an inventory and ordering list, and just trying to figure out what in the heck he was going to do with a surfing shop, this time of year.

Anyone passing by the Surf's Up shop that morning would likely find Billy somewhere inside rummaging through things, appearing way more busy than he actually was.

It was Thursday, Gladio had just rolled in via portal from Insomnia with Ignis, and while his compatriot was off to stress out about his cooking class, Gladio was heading over to the Perk for ridiculous caffeinated beverages and his usual light reading. Look. It had just sort of become a thing by now, to the point where he actually looked forward to it, even when things seemed a little more quiet when he came in this week than they had in the previous weeks.

No matter. That just meant he could get his two incredibly large lattes and his book to a good table and actually start digging into them a little before getting distracted with the inevitable conversations and general people watching.

And you know what? He was going to throw a muffin into the whole mix, too. Why not? You had to enjoy the little things in life, right?

[[ i clearly have the day off and intend to use it well! Although I may disappear for a chunk of a few hours to, like, feed myself and stuff. But this post is absolutely open for all your perkly needs! ]]

Was it getting too cold for Shirtless Thursdays? Maybe a little. Was it going to stop Eric?

Not remotely. Having decided based on, well, looking up at the ceiling to determine that it was tall enough, he'd had Tiny haul a medium-sized portable firepit into the space to add ambience and a reminder that he could set a piano on fire at ANY POINT.

He wouldn't, but he was happiest when he was annoying Lucifer somehow.

Tiny put up the sign announcing it SHIRTLESS LEATHER PANTS THURSDAY and Eric settled in with a drink at the bar.

The Devil's Nest was open and the vampire was around.

Liz was still rather tired but she was a bit more focused than she had been the other day when she opened the store for the day. The nightmares hadn’t returned since she’d started training with her powers so it had helped her relax a bit, her sleeping was still on and off but she hadn’t triggered her powers subconsciously at least so that was something.

After that she decided to check her email and saw that there was a new one from Hellboy.

Hellboy had invited her back to the BPRD for Thanksgiving and as she read over the email she wasn’t sure if she was ready to return, as much as she still missed everyone … it felt wrong to return, even though she knew she could at any point since it had been her choice to quit and return to Fandom. Even though she had always enjoyed the holidays at the BPRD, when they’d had a moment to celebrate in between cases but it felt too soon.

She read and reread over the email, it had been a bit over a month since she had moved back to Fandom and she decided to wait and see before she made any final decision on returning home for a few days next week. Hellboy had said they didn’t need a response, they’d have a place for her if she decided to turn up and then he’d added that they missed her - he and Abe. She wouldn’t do that to them, she would let them know one way or another but she wasn’t sure if she was ready to go back.
