hasaknightjob: Steven wearing glasses (Steven glasses)

It had been... an interesting few days since Steven and Llewellyn had gotten back to Fandom. Coming back to find things not at all as Steven remembered them had not been good for Steven's mental state. However, they'd quickly been able to catch up on radio and deduce it was one of those Fandom things which, while not necessarily wonderful did make it real which had been Steven's first concern.

After which there'd been getting acclimated, and reassuring Midnight that no, its exterior appearance was perfectly fine and there was no need for it to try to imitate an Extended Stay, (not that Steven even knew what that was). But yes, do continue to keep the... beings? With the strange heads? out of the building, thank you. Whether or not the beings were safe they did appear to be annoying and frankly that'd been reason enough for Marc to put his foot down regardless of anyone else's opinions on the subject.

And then, well, work. Where the Museum thankfully looked the same even if so much else around the island didn't. Steven did, of course, do a walk around the building and a check in with Blathers to make sure things were still all right. Apparently there'd been some letters encouraging Blathers to start an educational children's program to be broadcast behind a paywalled cable channel instead of being immediately aired on public television for the lower income children the program was intended for. But Blathers had no idea what any of that meant, nor did Steven, because understanding cross canonical meta references were, sadly, still an ability which versions of Steven only had in memes and nowhere else. Either way Blathers had thankfully not dignified any of the letters with a response.

Once Steven was done making certain the Museum was fine he sat down behind the Welcome Desk to work. He opened one of the many souvenir maps of the island and studied it. He didn't know who made the maps, exactly, only that he was sometimes tasked with ordering new copies to give out. However he thought it might be useful to at least try updating them to reflect the current lay of the land, as it were?

Assuming such a thing was possible with how quickly things were changing.

Hmm. Maybe the way to handle it was to use pencil instead of ink.

Either way the Museum was open. Unless you were one of those strange headed beings or a certain cable company executive who shall remain nameless. In which case you might find yourself getting a truncheon aimed at your forehead.

Liliana stared at the building in front of her. This was not her her beautiful storefront. This was not her beautiful shop. And, obviously, she knew that could happen, but it was still a bit shocking to realize that it had happened to her.

Somehow, inside was even more puzzling than the outside. It was still filled near to bursting with things she barely recognized and couldn't imagine wanting anyway, but now it was compounded by being cheap and garish as well.

And the less said about the back of the store (link nsfw), the better.

At this point, she almost wanted one of the creepy TV-heads to come into the store. She just wanted to talk. Honest.

Masks
If they turn out to be cursed, don't say you weren't warned.

They didn't have Waffle House back in New Jersey, but Danny still felt at home with the no nonsense order style.

Also, he'd had a late night working on the Pepe Silva clue board. But the map was mostly flushed out with the news of an actual Walmart showing up overnight in the woods...

Well, it'd need to get checked out too. But so did many other spots that was kind of running the troopers a little thin.

So, he was working on a 'looking for volunteers' thing in the relative safety of the Waffle House. As you do.

Steph's store had not been taken over by some soulless corporate entity, she felt it was important to note, and she'd personally go after any of those TV headed creeps if they even tried. (Were they actually the ones behind the town business swaps? She was kind of assuming here, but it given their incessant aggressive shilling it seemed likely.)

She did, however, have an infuriatingly high number of people coming in and being disappointed that she didn't have this one specific style of Chessex dice they'd seen at Barnes and Noble, or asking her for advice on how to buy PDFs of game sourcebooks online, and like... really? Really? Sure, the one person who wanted to know about getting a Humble Bundle of a bunch of sourcebooks got a pass, because it was for a good cause, but em>man, everybody else was getting on her nerves.

Even Saffron seemed to have her back on this, and was hissing more than usual at customers who came in with such inquiries.

From across the shop, granted, and usually an angle that kept her out of Steph's line of sight, but still.

Annie was on maternity leave and there was absolutely zero chance Eric would be calling her in to work right now anyway because he very much liked not being killed by lightning-related powers, and asking someone a zillion months pregnant to put on the Hooters uniform seemed like a quick trip to extremely permanent death.

Though Tiny dressed three nights in a row in those shorts was making Eric reconsider whether seeing clearly was really working out for him right now, either. (Eric had gone back to his normal leather pants.) Adding to the horror, there were children in his bar.

"Why?" he demanded, pointing at one table full of them with a divorced dad ogling the TV-faced waitress's butt.

Tiny rumbled out an answer.

"KIDS EAT FREE HERE TONIGHT?!"

Well. Everything about this was a nightmare.

Anakin wasn't ashamed to be using a little bit of Force mind control to send the roving packs of drones on their way, especially since they were blocking the way to coffee. He sat down at a table with his fuss-free black coffee and a small box of Timbits (after checking to be sure there weren't any bits of someone named Tim in it. It might look like a generic chain restaurant, but Anakin had been on the island too long not to ask) and answered his comm as it rang.

"Luke!" he said, smiling. "You're coming this weekend? Things are a little...odd...this week."

After a brief explanation, he listened to his son's response.

"No, I don't think Rory made this happen," he said with a frown. "Other people like coffee too. Maybe one of them found a genie or a monkey's paw or a crossroad or a magical catalogue."

Luke said something else.

"Yeah, we're still trying to figure out the catalyst," Anakin admitted. "Bring your lightsaber just in case."

[OOC: Open! Now I want Timbits.]

The year was 2023 A.D. Fandom was entirely occupied by the capitalists. Well: not entirely! One small shop, owned by one indomitable Magician, still held out against the invaders...

Okay, occasionally the front of the building gave a little... tremble. Something would fall off of a shelf, shift into a mass-produced shade of navy blue, and find itself pruned with impunity. But on the whole, Pick Your Poison stood untouched, likely fueled by both the sheer, incalculable strength of its current owner's persistent rage, and by whatever its previous owner had embedded in the bricks through sheer stubbornness.

And for some reason, webshop orders were through the roof.

"How many bottles of shampoo does one lady need?" Margo muttered, as she placed the 26th bottle in a box and glared angrily at a small jar of bath salts. Its label immediately returned to normal.

The looming monolith that was Walmart stood out in the woods, parking lot and all, just waiting for customers to come and shop. Nothing at all ominous about it at all.

Just ignore the television headed drones pushing carts back into the store. How did the carts get out there when it has only just appeared? Don't think about it. Just... enjoy.

It was hard to say where the idea had come from, but clean out of other ideas, someone had suggested, "What if we just attack Walmart?" and so a call had gone out. Well, a group text, with instructions to bring your friends.

And now...it was time. The monster and its low, low prices awaited.

...Uh, did anyone know how to defeat a Walmart? Theft, maybe? Was looting involved? Let's try that.

(Come one, come all, to the Walmart riot. You know you've always wanted to do this.)
