Wanted to take a few minutes to announce some things and get others squared away. *blinks cutely* I know you must get tired of hearing me yap but these things got to be done!

*~*

Check out the new businesses that have started up in town! Make sure to help these new folks feel welcome!

Those of you who have been accepted as business owners and residents and those of you who have been here a while, I would like to draw your attention to this part of the application for established townies. I will be checking this week and taking names.

I need that information, most especially a real live function contact email address. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to contact someone and having it bounce back. There are tricks to screwing up the bots that harvest emails but for God's sake, don't make it so obscure I have to guess. I’ll just write you off as a loss until you contact me because of a problem.

*~*

New Townies!
Make sure to check your invites for the comms if you haven’t joined yet.
. You will not receive an email informing you of the invite and they are only good for 30 days before it has to be resent.

And a word of warning in case you haven’t been keeping up. No Townies are allowed on campus except by previous arrangement with Dean Bristow ([livejournal.com profile] dean_bristow), Spider Jerusalem ([livejournal.com profile] jerusalem_s) or Rover ([livejournal.com profile] prisoner_rover). If you are found on campus and are not authorized, you will be ‘rovered’ and sent back off campus, presumably to some place quite uncomfortable. So … just make sure to get the proper authorizations before you go.

*~*

Don't forget the Town Meeting on Thursday. Although not to be until "7:00 pm", I'll open the post early for the differently timezoned players to contribute. If you have something you want to be addressed, drop a message in my "email" or in my realtime email.

The Town Meeting is open to business owners and residents living in town. All are welcome to sit in and observe and make comment, but business discussed will affect Fandom Town interests only.

I'll have an agenda up on Wednesday.

*~*

Just to clear up any confusion. I do have active law enforcement in town other than the two detective players. To that end, I've set up a uniformed police presence. [livejournal.com profile] fandomtown_pd They are your generic uniformed police officers. After all, don't they all pretty much look the same when in uniform?

They will be wandering around through town on occasion to engage in random encounters

FTPD 9-1-1 Voicemail. Try not to abuse the poor uniforms. I do monitor the boards for disturbances and will try to respond as quickly as I can with the police. But I am only human one person individual and can't be online 24/7.

Assumed existence pretty much goes for any governmental office needed in a town. Just because I don’t have pretty LJs to go with them doesn’t mean they aren’t there. Remember, at least I am playing this town full of NPCs to get the things done like garbage pick up (Mon and Thurs in town, Tues and Fri for the campus), Public Works, Post Office, Town Library, paper delivery, etc. Believe me, just knowing these things are there, knowing there are NPC “Sims” wandering around really does give this town life.

*~*

Don’t forget to check the [livejournal.com profile] fandomhigh_ooc comm regularly for any uber game information. And watch this comm first for any townie/resident business/information.

*~*

Final reminder that I review and approve/reject applications on Sunday. Have patience if you apply during the week.

*~*

I think that covers anything I have to say. Thanks for your attention.

There's a little bit of a spring in Michael's step as he flips over the "open" sign, and for the first time in a while he's actually smiling. Another glorious day in Fandom Town. A variety of noises which sound very much like furniture being moved are coming from the back room.

"What the hell are you doing back there?"

Ben appears in the doorframe. "I thought a little feng shui might help the room back here. Get the right energies going. Especially if I'm going to use this room to write." Dusting his hands, he turns to go back to work on the room.

Michael shakes his head, but he's still smiling. It's good to have his husband home.

Having turned in her Journalism assignment early, Duce heads in to work to open for Red. Flipping on the neon, the sign hums for a moment before flickering to life and proclaiming the shop 'Open'. The lights are switched on, illuminating the studio in a ruthless halogen glare.

Walking around the corner to get her henna kit, she stops abruptly and peers down at two very limp and sleeping babies. From the looks of it, they'd attempted to hide around the corner, presumably to pounce her when she came in, but couldn't keep awake at such an early hour. Duce grinned at them, sidestepping neatly to get to the fridge. Once the henna was set on the counter to warm and reach dye-break, she dropped to the floor, folding her legs indian style and began to gently pet the cubs.

Red shows up and then heads out )

Letter

Slipped through the mailslot at Wolfram and Hart sometime last night, addressed to [livejournal.com profile] lilah_esq

Lilah:

Somehow I can't seem to make it in for a proper appointment, so feel free to charge me standard office fees for this letter.

I'm going to start carding at the pub. Harm to business or no, if I have to deal with one more teenaged whelp drunk off their head, I'm going to do something drastic. The question I have for you on the topic is this:

The drinking age gets a little blurry for some of the students up at that crack-headed school of theirs. I've no issue with serving those dead, undead, re-born, age-regressed and the like, but I'm going to need to find a way to draw the line between those who have been 21 once already or were born more than 21 years ago in their own time-line or whose age translates to 21 earth-standard years, etc.

Is there a legal recourse in cases such as these? I know I can word a sign stating that I only serve those who are or have been at one time, past their twenty-first year in earth-standard... but is there a way to make it stick and/or enforce it realistically across the board?

Delivered to the Amber House, attention Shane McCutcheon ([livejournal.com profile] shane_mcc).

The bulk of their weekend, for the most part, was spent on Angelus’ project. They were ready to start the second phase, waiting for their order to come in at the Emporium before they could do more.

Idleness is the root of mischief, or something like that, the brothers headed for their favorite hangout spot in the park and reclined in various poses of relaxation to watch the townsfolk wander by.
[identity profile] allison-dubois.livejournal.com
Allison flipped the sign in her window from closed to open, it was convenient to be working out of her own home. She was a bit sad though, Joe had left her because of her...curse. Her girls were probably safer away from her too, now Allison was on her own. She hoped this town needed some psychic help, or she might never find her place in the world. Allison's dreams had been so violent as of late, and she missed her family but she was a danger to them.

Amanda posts a sign in the window of the lobby of the museum, she needed some help before she could get this place running well.

Help Wanted )

Satisfied, she dusts off her hands on her pants and disappears into her office, where she is watching the last three weeks of Passions working on some very important business.

Jordan is there bright and early with coffees for herself and for Kate who will be coming in later. She's also brought one for Woody in case he decides to stop by. She seems determined to get some work done today.

The Haven - Open

Monday, October 24th, 2005 11:56 am
[identity profile] professortrepe.livejournal.com
The Haven was softly lit, gentle illumination coming from polished brass lamps. The shop had an aura of comfort and safety, with an oversized fireplace and mahogany-paneled walls. The fragrance of rich coffee and warm pastries perfumed the air. In the brighter section of the café, several computers were set up, the screens turned on and running a start-up sequence.

However, in the shop proper, it was not as meticulously organized. There were books all over the place, in a slightly chaotic display, though separated by genre. Shelves of thick fantasy novels and paperback romances mingled with hard-covered research tomes and oversized racks of glossy magazines and fan-shaped displays of graphic novels.

There were even several sections of gifts and novelty items – small toys, flamboyant action figures, lavish chocolates, greeting cards, silk bookmarks, leather-bound notebooks, DVDs and CDs… and several boxes that had not yet been unpacked.

The owner was a willowy blonde, clad in a loose rust-colored skirt that hit her just below the knees and a plain blouse. She spared the boxes an appraising glance, her blue eyes sharp behind her thin, wire-framed glasses. After a moment, she returned to writing on the small chalkboard.

Monday Café Selections:
- Croissants
- German Chocolate Cake
- Brownies
- Espresso Brownies
- Rosehip Tea
- Ginseng Root Tea
- Espresso Roast (Decaf or Regular)

Quietly, she disappeared into a back room. A push of a button and several strains of calming music drifted from hidden speakers. She re-emerged, a thin stack of job applications in hand. She set them down on a small table by the checkout counter, alongside an assortment of pens. She went to the door to make sure that the small, handwritten sign indeed reads 'OPEN'. With a sigh, she kneels on the thick carpet and rips open a box with a serrated knife. The carton is crammed with novelty items that hardly change her collected countenance, though her sapphire eyes dance with amusement as she stocks the lowest row of shelves with an array of prank items, magically-enhanced and not, and the like...

Feel free to interrupt her.
[identity profile] salmoneus.livejournal.com
Salmoneus comes out onto the small porch of the bank and checks the new message box on the wall. He frowns when he sees it empty, then shrugs and turns back toward the door. Flipping the sign from Closed to Open, he then also hangs another sign that says:

Grand RE-Opening!
The zombies are gone and we're back in business!
Come on in and open an account today!

He straightens both signs, then looks around at the town and smiles before heading back inside, being certain to prop the door open.
[identity profile] freelancerchick.livejournal.com
Tex opens up the shop in the morning. She got a last minute job Saturday evening and had been gone until early this morning. If anyone needed her, she's sure they'll know how to find her today.

((Shop layout and current weapon supply can be found here. You want something else? Just ask her and she'll try to get her hands on it for the right price. Feel free to bug her, just know that she'll bug back.))

Tonks let herself into the shop, and called a greeting to Wonka, who was in the lab in the back. She donned a plain black apron, and straightened a few boxes. She smiled and glanced at the candy, trying to straighten anything that looked out of place. Occasionally, she would sing softly to herself, "I watched the water's surface where the light swayed..." It seemed to be the only line of the song she remembered. She regarded the candy, twirling her wand in her fingertips.
[identity profile] groovy-cat.livejournal.com
The Cat moonwalks out of this shop, wearing a salmon pink suit with large shoulder pads and zebra print lapels.

He takes a small spray bottle of something out of his pocket and sprays it around the shop, "yessss, this is mine!" he says dancing.

After a short while he puts a sign outside the shop

Help Wanted, must be Groovy, applies inside

He dances back into the shop and continues to spray things

"That's mine, this is mine..."

ETA-((Open to anyone, he might be moonwalking/dancing around outside, getting distracted by shiney things etc))

((having a couple of issues atm namely icons not working and the last post didn't show up, if this shows up twice, I'm very sorry. Will be adding links to his user info asap, so those of you unfamilar with him will see what he looks like))

Becky is, once again, in a strangely good mood.

This time, she's not just humming. She's actually singing under her breath as she pours shots.

From her corner, Miho rolls her eyes and eats a brownie.

Camulus is pacing the paths of the park glancing towards the town every few minutes. He walks past the pond and nods to Ivanova, who is feeding the ducks with her anthropology textbook propped up on her knee. He pulls a heavy silver pocketwatch from a fold of his kilt and glances at it, huffing in annoyance.

Where was that damn woman?

[[Currently locked to Beka. That may change.]]
