Inara sits down behind the desk. There's a hush in town, and it's a little worrying.

To calm herself, she makes a cup of tea and begins writing random calligraphy.

There is a hush in Fandom town.
The quiet portends the madness,
The madness comes before the chaos,
The chaos arrives and people go crazy,
Then everything goes to hell.

...Buddha, I'm bored.

He might be distracted by other things in his life right now, but Michael couldn't ignore the hair standing up at the back of his neck. Something was in the air, and knowing Fandom, it probably wasn't something good. He debated opening the shop, but finally did. However, he kept one of the handy-dandy cricket bats with him behind the counter today.

((ooc: As noted here, as long as you leave my boys intact and don't cause a major disaster [fire, flood, major structural damage], you're welcome to come break windows, knock over shelves, destroy merchandise, etc. I don't know how much I'll be on during the day today, though, so if you want to actually interact with freaked out Michael, that'll have to be slow play. Otherwise assume he's hiding behind the counter in terror, clutching the cricket bat.))

((ooc2: Please do not ignore Tobias. He's Michael's employee and is pretty much in charge of things because I'm busy in RL. You will probably not get me responding to much until after 7 MST.))

Kiki, flying over the town, notices that the town seems ominous this morning - perhaps because there are burned benches in the park and overturned trash cans all over, and the radio reported fights and shootings in the wake of Red's leaving. Hoping that the ducks were smart enough to stay well-hidden all night, Kiki circles higher, not too keen on staying near the ground, and Jiji digs his claws into the broomstick nervously. They hover over the bookshop for a moment as Kiki surveys the ground carefully from her lofty vantage-point, and then, satisfied that it looks clear, she lets the broom drop like a rock.

Anyone who happens to be around the shop at this time would probably hear the doppler effect working on a loud feline screech of irritated fear as witch, broom and cat plummet to earth.

Kiki yanks the broom to a sharp and narrow halt barely a foot above the sidewalk, and leaps off the broom, tugging the heavy key from the cord around her neck, and she hurries inside, breathing a small sigh of relief.

Then, with a grin, she flips the sign to "open," sets out the tea and cookies - quietly slipping half a gingersnap to Jiji and Pogo - and sits down to study her spellbook.

In the dead of the night a shadowy figure snuck into the park, and made a bee-line for the benches near the duckpond.

After struggling with the benches for several minutes, the shadowy figure ran off and returned with a battle-axe.

A short while later two of the benches had been reduced to kindling and the others were carefully hacked off their mountings.

About half an hour after that, the benches and kindling-that-used-to-be-benches were neatly stacked in a neat bonfire arrangement next to the pond, but away from the trees.

The shadowy figure crouched near the heap of wood and flicked on a lighter. They then ran off again, this time returning with a gerry-can of oil. The next time the shadowy figure put their lighter to the kindling it caught light quickly.

The shadowy figure just as quickly retreated to the trees to watch. They might have been cackling a little.

Despite all the craziness in town, Luke decided it was better to deal with the lawlessness than a hormone crazy woman back at the house.

He opened the door to the business and if anyone listen closely you might hear him grumbling about Jeff stealing all of Luke's pie profits.

After Alfred's visit the previous day, the Baron had sent a letter by way of a passing ship's cat. It should have reached the intended recipient today. While he felt that calling in reinforcements may be premature, it would never hurt to have some extra muscle at hand. Any visitors to the shop today would probably find themselves rudely accosted by a large, grumpy white cat, and all restaurants were urged to lock up their scraps. Muta was coming to town.

There had been gunshots and strange noises throughout the night. Zhaan had informed him that this wasn't the usual state of the town, but in all honesty, it hadn't bothered him much. He was, after all, a counter-terrorism agent, and had been in the Ranger Special Forces. Compared to what he'd seen in the war, this was a spring festival. Gabriel, being the cowardly dog she was, had hidden under the bed all night.

But he needed supplies, the dog needed a walk, and despite the uneasy atmosphere that persisted, he wasn't the least bit intimidated. He could certainly take care of himself. Tugging on the leash in his hand to coax the reluctant basset hound out of the shop doorway, he set out.

((Be around for another hour or so, then to work, but I'll be back this evening. And I tried to toss as much info about Batou into his userinfo as I could so people not familiar wouldn't have to be confused. Up for some fun--just don't maim the dog.))

She's wearing her Kevlar vest.

She has her gun. Fully loaded, with extra ammunition.

And she's feeding the few ducks who dared to venture from their hiding places.

[ooc: Open for all of your park needs. Feel free to interact with Sara or studiously avoid her. Please to not be harming her in any way without consulting me. :)]

The Chalkboard reads:

Wednesday Specials

Stroganoff: Beef or mushroom
with green beans, carrots and a roll

Dessert:
Cream puffs
Black bottom pie
Sweet Potato Pie
Chocolate Coke Cake

Deb is in, pacing uneasily. She has the blast-rifle that replaced her shotgun within easy reach of the register. Carl is nowhere to be seen in the diner but astute sidewalk observers will see him at the same window he was shooting zombies from.

Veronica arrived at Caritas. She waved to Lorne, who seemed tied up on some important call, checked the Zombie Band, said hi to Tino and, since everything seemed in order, opened the club.

[ooc: V is no longer in the club. You can mod Tino getting your drinks and Lorne is available for interaction.]
[identity profile] jarodpretends.livejournal.com
Jarod sat behind the desk. He was surfing the internet, trying to find all the available information about vampires. A copy of Bram Stoker's Dracula was open on the desk next to him. Some passages were underlined and others were highlighted.

Under the desk were a bottle of holy water and several sharpened stakes. He wasn't wearing a cross, since he wasn't sure it would work for a non-Christian.

Angel stood out by the gates of school, waiting for Callisto. Unlike his usual oblivious state, his senses were primed. If it moved, had a scent, had a heartbeat, you name it, he was searching for it.

Though his primary target was two creatures who only had 2 out of those criteria.

[ooc: Openish. He's waiting for Callisto, then they're going patrolling via rooftop. Up to you if your character would be able to interact given that criteria.]

Crowley's been at the hotel, waiting patiently for one tasty morsel to arrive for check in.

The Baba Yaga hut that she had borrowed from Master Paine's Circus attracted a lot of stares as it walked down the causeway that connected the island with the mainland. Agatha did not care however. She missed Krosp and she missed Lars and she even missed Zeetha, the self-defense lunatic. But, the Baron had gotten too close, had almost caught up to her, and this seemed like a nice enough place to hide for a while.

As the hut on chicken legs walked across the island and down the streets, Agatha kept a careful eye out for Minotaur Lane. The mayor of this town had responded back to her inquiry telling her that number 49 was empty and she was all set to take it over and locate her shop there.

Once the correct building had been spotted, Agatha swung out of the hut, and went to explore her new digs. A number of rather small metal critters followed her carrying various bits of luggage and scrap metal.

[come gawk at the walking house, come help unload, come gawk at the rather busty young woman. Or just stop by to say hi.]

The cold in Fandom is biting, as it becomes more and more obvious that the place is a lawless nightmare. No police, no mayor, no law other than that of force.

It is no place to be for any normal person or any trained fighter.

Much less the old man who is walking through park late at night. He draws his coat further around him and shivers, putting a hand up on his hat to keep it on. He looks very frail and helpless out in the cold

That's exactly what he is. A frail, graying, helpless old man. Yep. That's exactly what you see here. You definintely do not see an ex-British Intelligence Officer who has caught some of his employer's knack for do gooderism and is well armed enough to take out an army division by himself.

Yep, that's definitely what you don't see. Totally. You can go ahead and attack this old man without worry that anything bad will happen to you. At all. You won't end up in an Intensive Care Ward. Why would that happen?

[[OOC: Open to anyone who is dumb brave enough to wander around the park at night for their own means, anyone who wants to chat with Alfred, or anyone who has a death wish and wants to attack him.]]

There was a flash of light and then Veronica found herself in the alley behind Caritas, Bel's hand still wrapped around her throat.

Remembering the self defense lesson he'd given her, she kicked out, aiming for his knee.

[ooc: locked to V, Bel & one other person that knows who they are. also, the fact that they were fighting is okay for broadcast, but not the actual content of the fight.]

Tex had seen war, some useless and some more sinister. In the end, she'd made a whole lot of money from it. This however was just chaos leading to no money going to her and that was annoying. Not to mention that the only place to get a whiskey right now involved singing, you'd get cranky for less. So she moved through the streets, clubbed an idiot trying to steal over the head and gracefully accepted the reward she got in return (although she was under the impression that the guy seemed rather intimidated by her, but she didn't argue with money).

((Got an emergency? Feel free to poke her and bring some money. Want to try to attack her? Just give it a go.))
