Rodney wasn't hiding.

Really.

The fact that he was supposed to pick up the twins from John tonight had totally slipped his mind. After he had gotten caught up in his math homework, that is.

Rodney loved calculus. And coffee. He was quite content to stay there all night.

The giant brick of a quasi-laptop was out again, and Yitzhak was behind the counter, cheerfully attempting to start up an online betting pool on which celebrity would get nailed on DUI charges next.

You could tell, if you squinted, that he was cheerful about this -- the scowl was pretty relaxed today.

Luke's is open. Place your bets.

Such interesting weather here, Adah had noticed, on her limp through the town with the comfortable chairs of the coffee shop driving her left side. It was almost enough to have her miss Africa for not only its heat, but also it's consistency. True, you'd have no rain, but at least you'd get used to it being that way for weeks on end, instead of constant shifting that gave her pains behind her knee.

No matter, because soon she was inside the coffee shop and the weather didn't matter, only the warmth of the atmosphere and the strong smell off coffee permiating from the very walls. Adah got her tea, and she curled up in one of the comfortable chairs. She placidly set herself up with a two familiar volumes of poetry. She sat there and she read them. Read them and understood, knew what they were saying, was almost tempted to recite them if she wasn't certain that she'd continue to reserve her talking. She wasn't sure if it was actually reading them or simply remembering, but she could read them, finally, and she was estatic. She missed her Poe, her No Snikcidy Lime far too much, even if it was just memory, but wasn't that what most reading was, anyway? Just remembering shapes and words and meanings.

Mary was at the front desk today, but she was distracted. She was reading a Las Vegas newspaper with a headline about an unbelievable robbery at the Montecito Las Vegas. The thieves released knock-out gas onto the casino floor and took $30 million from the cage while the staff and patrons were unconscious. There was a small mention of Danny, the new chief of operations, being one of the victims on the casino floor when the gas was released. No one got hurt, but the attack was scaring customers away from all the Vegas properties and the casino's insurance did not cover the loss. It looked like a lot of her friends would be out of work soon.

Gunther set up afternoon tea on the buffet table, then hovered nearby with a plate of cucumber sandwiches and a pot of her favorite flavored tea.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!
Please join us for afternoon tea.

Peter was in a live music kind of mood tonight, so he went to Caritas to get some hot cocoa and hear some zombie Christmas music. When he saw Tino alone behind the bar with some wigs still attached to him, Peter had to ask, "Do you need some help?" Tino sighed and nodded.

"Okay," Peter said, hopping the bar with ease. "Just tell me what I need to do when people ask for mixed drinks or whatever, because I have no clue about those. I mean, beer, I can probably figure that out because, hey, it's tough to mess up a bottle, right? Wow. Not much of a talker, are you? Clearly I'm going to need to talk for the both of us."

Tino was already regretting his decision.

Roy was back at the station. His left hand was finally free of the braces and he was playing with a stress ball to practise the muscles again. He'd received a phone call from Hawkeye earlier that morning, telling him that they finally had found a cure for Grumman even as whoever did it managed to do so without a trace.

Everything still pointed to General Raven however and Roy partly wished he was back in Central to help out. Hawkeye and Aly had been right however, him sticking around would just give them the idea that they were winning. It was just the part where Hawkeye insisted that she didn't need to to have to worry about his safety as well that annoyed him. He didn't need a keeper.

Okay, maybe just a little bit so he kept on top of his paperwork but who didn't?

Moist opened the Post Office automatically. He was beyond bored in Fandom, reduced to the dull grind of an honest daily routine. When he absently patted Not Tiddles, without thinking about the likely chaos that would be visited on his person, the cat was so surprised that she didn't savage his hand.

He didn't notice the Sorting Engine was humming, or that it was getting louder. He didn't notice the bright light that was shining out of it, casting back and forth across the post office until it found him.

Go into the light. )

[ooc: And so Moist and Gladys are gone from Fandom. Thank you to everyone who played with him and with her, it was a blast!]
