Mary thought that there was a major upside to sobriety. She could hit the bars like she did last night with Mike but not feel like it the next morning as long as she stuck to the club soda.

Isabel opened the store on time and settled in with her laptop and new broadband card. She was going to beat her best Literati score even if it took all day.

Pixie Dust was open.

Sokka was kind of grumpy today. Even Squishies didn't make life better, because he could feel Bob staring at him.

So he opened a panel on her back, temporarily disconnected a few things, and had some small bit of revenge on both Bob and Zuko for the day.

A shipment of peanuts came in and George Michael was staring down at two large crates full. "I didn't ask for these. I asked for shelled nuts. Someone sent me the wrong nuts. They're supposed to be shelled." He kicked one of the crates. "Does no one ever listen? It was a simple order. What do these people do if they don't work? It was a simple order! These are supposed to be shelled! I don't want to stand around all day shelling nuts! I want my nuts! The nuts I ordered!"

George Michael's day was not off to a good start.

Beware his mood.

But he is hiring, oh yes!

Melody got to the shop on time and hummed to herself as she sorted through a new shipment and planned the lunch she would bring to Lucas in her head. He'd like eggless egg salad, right?

Groovy Tunes was open, and the soundtrack was Frank Sinatra.

Magic Box, Thursday

Ami opened the store, and sat down behind the counter. It was odd to be here not on a Monday, but she was sure she would adjust. Her thoughts turned to her Religion teacher and what he said about being best friends with Jesus. And what it meant that she was no longer surprised by that.

There was an artist in 218, so there was an Adah in the coffee shop, although, really, by now, there was a good chance he was gone, but the event that he would still be there was all the more reason why she would limp away and stay here. Comfortable chairs, and she was out for class, anyway. Class that had her thinking a lot about red ants, and Leah. Half of a sandwich mostly forgotten but with tea quickly disappearing, Adah was curved over a notebook on the table, attempting to write a letter, in pieces of French, pieces of Kilanga, pieces of a language the two of them had made up entirely when they were seven and somehow kept alive in the attempt to talk about things that the parents would disapprove of.

There were several problems, though. Among them was the fact that she didn't know what to say to Leah. Another was the fact that she still didn't know where Leah was. She wanted to ask about Anatole, but perhaps they'd parted ways. Perhaps either of them were even dead. Adah still tried to piece something together out of her fragmented twin language, so that it would be there, it would be ready, should she ever get that message on her phone from Orleanna, or a letter in the mail one of these days proclaming, "They found her. We know where she is."

[[ open for all your perkly needs; Adah is mostly interruptible and likely distractable ]]

Some of the kids had needed shift-switches. It wasn't as if Cable couldn't work in the store as well as upstairs.

Even if the dog had followed him downstairs and settled, quietly, under his desk. He would've started looking up good shelters over the internet (which still wasn't quite the infonet), but the readings he was getting off his laptop were getting more troubling by the minute.

He had, in all his preoccupation, still not forgotten to put the Open sign on the door.

When Robin wandered into Caritas, it was to be met with Tino telling her that they were all out of Jose Cuervo, and she had to order more.

Robin was pretty sure it wasn't actually her problem, but the woman liked her tequila. So she was on the phone, immediately trying to get in touch with whoever delivered booze in bulk.

[this actually happened at the bar where I work. where the margarita is probably our most popular drink. yes. wtf, bar manager, wtf.]

It was his first day, but Lucas was a little late. Maybe drinking on work nights wasn't such a good idea after all. Andrew glared while he showed Lucas around the course and track, but when Lucas asked Andrew if there were any go kart repairs that needed taken care of, Andrew's face lit up like a Christmas tree.

Which would explain why Lucas was off to the side of the ticket booth trying to salvage the go karts that had been injured during Joanna's assault on the causeway during the plague.

Of course, Andrew had just laughed when Lucas had confusedly asked, "What plague?"
