Ender had returned to work. After a quiet weekend, he enjoyed the return to some semblance of a routine, something to do that wasn't just mindlessly roaming around the island. He arrived early, and brought a laptop.

Soon, he was set up in his usual corner, studying up on plastic blends and their strengths and weaknesses. He'd play-test some of his theories in time, but right now, he needed the basics.

Town Hall, Monday

He'd temporarily relocated his usual morning ritual to Town Hall. The TiVo was beginning to put some doubts in his mind for real, and if Rikku called-- well. Nathan liked to be central in case something happened.

Not that he doubted that there was a good chance she could handle it.

"Yes, I'm back with the Rumeki now," Irene sighed over the phone. "Thank you for asking. How was your week?"

"A headache."

"Please tell me there wasn't another invasion."

"There wasn't another invasion." A pause. "How much do you know about programming a TiVo?"

They could probably hear Irene's snickering straight down the hall.

There was a very strong smell of bacon in the diner today, probably wafting out into the street.

"What?" Lacey demanded of the staff. "Did you guys cook a whole farm's worth of pigs or something?"

"Don't answer that."

Ten minutes later, though, she was munching delicately (or as delicately as possible) on a BLT as she scribbled up ideas for a new sandwich for the menu. She needed something signature.

This morning found the sign over the door still E-less, and Eliza glaring daggers at the neatly-typed (terribly neatly typed - not an ink-splotch anywhere) letter that had arrived in the post from her suppliers. Her E was on something called "back order" and would be arriving sometime around the thirteenth of Never, if she read properly between the terribly neatly-typed lines.

Right, then. She had wire, ribbons, and rather a larger supply of violets than she knew what to do with. Surely she could make her own E, even if she eventually had to replace it when they started to wilt...

The hand-lettered sign in the window had taken the brunt of her frustrations, poor thing, as it now read:

Covent Garden Flowers

Eliza Doolittle, prop.
Fresh flowers from nosegays to bouquets!
Delivery available upon request.

Chad was not late for work unlike his mun will be, unless you considered getting there at the usual time after class late. Which he didn't. And he could decide that, because he was a manager.

He settled in behind the counter and got ready for another exciting day at Groovy Tunes.

Today's mix: Fun Run One

Groovy Tunes is open!

[[ and OCD free today, as I run out to work, so SP is love! ]]

Settling into the warm water, Temari sighed and closed her eyes. She'd forgotten how relaxing this could be.

Even if the swimsuits were rather odd.

Sokka was asleep at the register and snoring pretty loudly. Not that that was terribly unusual.

What was unusual was that above his head, a weird-looking animal hung from the ceiling and munched on some leaves.

Apu, for his part, was convinced the two were not unrelated.

The Gig, Monday

Bender arrived at The Gig practically on time. He'd decided it was better to leave the chronic lateness until at least the third week. Maybe the second.

He propped up the sign -

[The Gig
Horses for hire
Horse-leech (vet) in residence
Blacksmithing by appointment
Help Wanted]

- and hoped nobody had any really sick animals that they wanted fixing. Bender reckoned threatening to flush or roast anyone's animals... would just get him quickly fired.

In the meanwhile Bender leaned back on a bench, watching the horses while he thought about racing and their betting odds. But in a hypothetically not-wanting-to-get-caught way, sure.

It was time for another of those dances! Dances were wonderful because everyone dressed very, very pretty, and most of the stupid teenagers bathed and were not half so stinky as they usual were. How wonderful!

So Tink showed up extra-early on Monday, not nearly so hung over as she might have been, and put all of the fancy, pretty formal dresses right up front. Handsome tuxes and suits. And of course, shoes.

She placed that old sign in the window, the one which read:

ASSISTANCE WANTED
Employees Receive Employee Discount

And hoped very much that she could hire someone who could start this week, since formal events always created such a crush.

(Recycled OOC note! One: Tink is a complete bitch, and will probably mock your character in a horribly cruel fashion, because ... it's Tink. Two: Pixie Dust is hiring, but she's weird and highly fussy, and only inclined to hire those who are very chic or very bitchy, preferably both. And three: if you ever need someone to talk your character into something he or she would not ordinarily wear, but would be fabulous on them, let me know, Tink can be helpful like that. (As can the rest of Pixie Dust's helpful staff.))

Ichigo wasn't hiding out. That was just stupid. He was just hiding out avoiding going back through the lobby in case someone tried to talk him into that homecoming madness again. No one in particular, really. Nope. And there was nothing shameful about avoiding a messy situation. He might have been overreacting, but if there was one thing he learned about the girls at Fandom, it was that you could never be too careful.

So he was sitting at a table in the Perk, nursing a hot chocolate and reading a book on the afterlife in different cultures. No reason for that either.

[So very open.]

Being single didn't feel much different that being married. At least not yet. Though if the zombies didn't stop playing All by Myself he was going to start chucking things at them. Nevermind the fact that he was the one who asked for the divorce, that fact seemed to go right through their rotting skulls.

Tino at least was sympathetic. He didn't much like the song either.

There wasn't much Arashi could do but open the bar and hope the music didn't keep people away.

Seregil opened the Book Haven and settled in with parchment and pen, to work on a letter back to Nysander. The upcoming weekend being called Homecoming had reminded him just how long it had been since he'd had a homecoming of his own and he was left feeling more than a little homesick.

The Book Haven was open.

Liz was on time for her shift. Before she opened she made sure that everything was set up and in order and that the specials were put up.
