Johnny flew into work today. Almost literally. And he stayed flamed up because it amused him to see the kitchen staff shuffle off, looking pale. Dude, wasn't his fault. They totally ought to be used to the fire by now.

Whatever, he stood around doing this that and the other, keeping his flame contained unto himself. If he was having fun with fireballs, well, who could blame him, right?

It was easy enough to tell there was something wrong with Toby, today

For one, he was on time for his new Wednesday shift and not trying on the new line of designer jeans that had arrived. For two, he was wearing a sweater hoodie all zipped up to his chin. For three, Toby was sitting behind the counter and pretending he was a good employee while Cher blasted through the overhead speakers.

It was all very abnormal, but made sense if you knew he'd been rejected by a very dark and mysterious Klingon.

At least he hadn't gotten depressed enough to read a book or anything. That would be just wrong.

[I don't believe in OCD.]

Amber was at work and actually working. She didn't have her tap shoes on, but that didn't keep her from working her feet as she swept along aisles, cleaning and straightening, and doing a bit of restocking where needed.

When that was finished, she made a display of Spam. It had been too long since it was on sale and it seemed T&C had an overabundance. It was kind of fun stacking the cans anyhow. That or she was just feeling overproductive.

"God, I'm frikkin' awake already, geez! Go home!"

Why, yes, that was a small green alarm clock on wheels that had followed Katchoo to work today -- although sometimes it hadn't followed her so much as it had zipped out in front of her with a mocking buzz, or occasionally been right on her heels beeping a staccato marching rhythm. It had even managed to climb the steps somehow, which just made her brain hurt, and now it was making dutiful patrols of the store's aisles. Not for Katchoo's lack of trying to stop it; she'd already tried to smash it every day since she'd gotten the damn thing, and was now reduced to occasionally yelling at it.

"Thanks for the present, Francine," she muttered as Clocky passed by on another circuit, emitting an electronic raspberry at her. "I swear, if that girl had a brain she'd be dangerous."

The noise she heard from somewhere down by the drafting supplies was the evilest evil cackle she'd ever heard an alarm clock make, ever.

Katchoo just groaned and covered her head with her arms.

[OOC: . . . yes, Katchoo's Christmas present has, thanks to the wacky of Fandom and very much against her will, turned into a pet of sorts. I kept meaning to get an establishy post up earlier but woo weird week so far. Think of Clocky as a single-purpose and extremely bratty little droid. Actually it'll probably like you, provided your name isn't Katina Choovanski. All [livejournal.com profile] thatsamilkshake's brilliant idea! Fie on thee, OCD! I spurn thee!]

Ino showed up promptly on time according to her schedule and ‘ridiculously early’ according to nearly everyone else’s schedule and bustled around the place taking care of the plants and making sure the store was clean.

After that, though, she flopped down in Cable-san’s chair and considered whether she ought to bring Ichigo lunch today, like normal, or if she should just... not. And spend the time studying instead. Studying was winning out for the moment, so she pulled out a notebook and started reviewing her notes.

Rain was bad enough. Cold rain was even worse. Cold rain combined with a walk to work and an umbrella that seemed determined to turn inside out every four steps? That was simply evil. Sarah took off her soaked sweater, stripping down to a tank top, and cranked the heat in the store up higher so she could dry out.

Once she was done cursing the weather, the island, and the entire East Coast, she started unpacking a box of action figures.Of course the box was full of toys depicting that Y-Man who controlled the weather.

Sarah was jealous as she went to make a pot of coffee.

Claire got to her new shift on time, and then spent the day sorting through the old board games to keep her hands busy. She'd claim she was trying to make sure they were complete so no one got ripped off, but really she wanted to see if anything looked like it could be refashioned into jewelry or collage elements.

The little plastic weapons from Clue were a little morbid, but definitely interesting.

[OOC: Open, no OCD.]

Dale had finished his paperwork earlier in the morning and was now sipping his cup of coffee as he stared out at the morning fog.

His thoughts drifted to another small town and the friends he had left behind there. It wasn't often that Dale slipped into one of these moods and it had been a long time since he felt even the slightest twinge of being homesick.

But right now he'd probably give up coffee and doughnuts all together if one of his friends or colleagues stepped out of that bank of fog for a visit.

Okay maybe he'd just give up doughnuts.

Liir made his way to work, did a bit of straightening up in the kitchen with the 'staff', and got to work on the menu almost immediately. He was in a pretty good mood, having spent the night curled up with Amber, and he was hopeful about his classes. All of them, really. It was, in short, a rather good day and he was confident that it should continue so, considering he had the kitchen for the day.

Jeff had been feeling a bit nostalgic today, which is why when he came into work, he artfully rearranged the fruit bowl.

"Here's to River," he said, as he lovingly put the two apples in place. If he had anything more ceremonial to add, however, the fact that Nana took that moment to tackle him knocked it straight out of him.

"NANA!"

Having survived his Leadership class, Ichigo opened up the store. It might not have come as a surprise that he was still in a mood, one that was growing increasingly worse as time went by. He put the open sign in the window and ordered some of the racks out of sheer boredom. It kept him busy anyway, and busy meant not thinking too much.

Penelope came into work and Tino fixed her a beer. And so it went, one after another. The band was apparently into Elvis tonight and sported white suits and black wigs. Penelope nearly died laughing when a few of them dislocated their hips and had to be taped back together.

It was oddly fascinating.

[ETA: I am verrrrry tired tonight and might suddenly drop off. I will pick up pings when I'm alive again.]
