"What the...?"

There was a poster, a box of new hats, and a confused Jack looking at the first two. He shrugged. "Whatever gets more business," he said, sorting through for a hat for himself.

"That should do it," he said, making sure the poster was visible.

Katchoo had some damn commercial jingle stuck in her head, and it was one of those especially annoying deals where she only remembered about a third of the lyrics, none of them in any particular order, and just enough of them to drive her crazy that she didn't remember the rest.

Slouched against the wall behind the counter with her earphones in and her sketchbook on her lap, she was attempting to combat this by cranking music on her phone, only to find herself bopping her head along with the music, mouthing the lyrics, then suddenly breaking out into that stupid, stupid jingle again.

This, in turn, meant a lot of breaks to re-sharpen her pencil. The insidiousness of that earworm was taking its toll.

Poor pencil.

[OOC: Open, likely SP during the day. I'm using the OCD to bookmark chapters 17 and 23 of the new SW book so I can go back and make funny noises over them later.]

Layla usually wasn't one for a beauty salon, manicures, pedicures, massages or the like but classes were now over for her and coming from her conversation with Karla the other day it seemed like the thing to do after a busy summer quarter.

She skipped the facial treatment and opted for the hair styling with a mani-pedi package. As she laid back on the chair as the stylists began to work she felt just a tad luxurious.

"Yeah. Okay. I could get use to this."

[Layla and Karla organized a spa day. If you think you would get an invite then you got one. So pretty much open to anyone.]

If Ino’s doodling was less of the impractical and bored sort of scribbling and looked a lot more like she was calculating trajectories today... that’s because that’s what she was doing.

Most people wouldn’t have to figure out the way their mind went from their body to another in a slightly different way than usual (for that matter, most people probably didn’t have to work out two different ways for two different uses, in this way, for their mind) but, well, Ino did. And the calculations were useful in a mind-numbing sort of way. Score!

She sighed, rubbed out a mistake, and got back to work.

Valentine had managed to shake off Gunther's request that she help in the kitchen again by simply pointing out that she was hired in to be working the desk, and she couldn't really work the desk if she was in the kitchen. Gunther offered to vouch for her if it actually did become a problem; Valentine thanked him, but was feeling so off lately that she told him she'd feel much more comfortable sticking to the work she was hired to do.

Which, apparently, meant tinkering around on her laptop.

Hey, the special was fish today. Valentine was not going to go anywhere near helping Gunther, lest it turn out like last time.

Shilo was happy for, if nothing else, air conditioning.

She swept up the gallery and took her place behind the desk, and began browsing Google Books for something to read.

The gallery is open.

Today Claire was working on a display that included some of the most iconic panels in comic history. It was kind of fun to see how the artwork had changed over the years.

So strange that the summer should be nearly ended. She'd been attending this school for well over a year, and a year from now, she'd be gone. And she'd hadn't even finished the alphabet yet, much less explored all there was to know of this era's music.

If she really were to go to Arrakis ... Alice wondered what sort of music one could find, there. Among other strange tendrils of thought curling round her mind.

Okay, so this island was growing on Alex, lately. It still wasn't New York, it still had no courtroom, and she'd still hop a bus back the same hour if she found out the Feds had given her the all-clear. But meeting new people at the bar on Saturday, that had been a good time. And having actual leisure time had not lost its novelty. And, well, she still liked that her door said

Occasionally letting the sway of the jazz coming from her record player swing her head and her shoulders a little, Rachel was in a pretty darn good mood as she sat behind the lobby desk to take care of the usual work that just came right in hand with owning a successful apartment building. That was no small amount of work, really, and there were plenty more things that she wasn't even getting to, which was why the sign on the door alerting passersby of the employment opportunities was still there.

The good mood was almost directly related to how things had gone during that three minute dates thing. Sure, it was totally not her style, but it had been interesting, and the fact that every one of hers had been at least normal on the three-minute surface gave her faith that this place might not be so bad at all. Win some, lose some, but there was room to work with here!

As Layla had suggested the day before, Castiel took his new (to him) computer to the Perk to make use of the free "wifi". He paused at the doorway to look back at the large, pointy nosed black dog that had been following him since about a block away from the church.

"I'm not certain the proprietors will appreciate a dog on the premises," he said.

The dog barked.

"Very well." Castiel entered, the dog slipping in the door after him. Castiel ordered a large dish of water, and when he was told that water was free and the wifi was really for customers, not random passersby and their dogs, he added a small coffee to the order, which he took to a table in the corner. The dog followed, and went immediately for the coffee. Castiel sighed.

"You don't want to drink that," he said mildly. The dog looked at him. "I know you're probably used to doing so, but coffee is toxic to canines." The dog looked pathetic at him. "I got you water." The dog sulked. Castiel opened his computer. The dog barked. "Chuck advised it. I'm going to Wikipedia to look up movies." The dog tilted its head. "I'm certain I'll figure it out," said Castiel.

He poked at the keys for a few moments while the dog lapped at its water, then he glanced over. "Just to confirm," he said, "you are Derek Morgan, correct?" The dog barked. Castiel nodded.

"I thought so."

Around town [all day]

Just like the previous session, the day before Edna's final class found her papering the town and school with tasteful posters (at knee height) to remind people about the Fashion Show her students would be putting on tomorrow.

Granted, the class was at an ungodly time in the morning (which, in Edna's opinion, was Any Time Before Noon), but one works with what one has, darlings.

Joan was running a few minutes late for her shift. Which had everything to do with the tiny grey and white kitten with big green eyes who was currently pouncing on the flowers.

She put the sign in the window and tried to keep Liir from eating all the merchandise.

Vida Boheme, prop.
Fresh flowers from nosegays to bouquets!

With only two days left in Fandom, Veronica had spent most of her day packing her things so she could ship them back to LA before her Disneyland trip.

She needed to get out of her apartment though and decided to head down to the gym for some exercise.

When Robin made her way into Caritas on Wednesday evening, she was fishing through her purse and not looking. "Yes, I'm here on a weekday, no you weren't prepared to deal with me, so you'd best just shut up and deal with it, and not whine all night."

When she looked up, she discovered that Tino was in the back room, and she'd been bitching to an empty bar.

Well done.

Jack was in a mood. He had a letter from the Mayor demanding that he return home immediately, and yesterday the sign company had delivered a sign reading "Halliwell's Gravel", so he'd spent the entire day on the phone, either on hold or arguing with someone who was apparently half deaf. Plus the letter had made him think of Sally. And that made his heart ache with loneliness for her.

But it was Romance Awareness Month, so he had a window display of little sweet presents to give your special someone.

Someone didn't know that the informal holiday of Break Up Week was fast approaching.

The Holiday Grove is open.

The sign still hangs in the window: Shifts available Tuesday through Thursday.

[Open for great SP justice, OCD up]
