The classic rock station on the radio was blaring loudly enough to be heard from the sidewalk, and Katchoo was sitting on the floor beside the counter, stabbing an X-Acto knife into a block of balsa wood.

All right, she was actually attempting to carve it into something -- what she hadn't determined yet, and this was not her usual medium, and she was still stuck on WTFLASERS after class. Thus, her carving attempts bore a strong (and quite possibly frightening) resemblance to stabbing.

Katchoo attacking a piece of wood with a sharp object. Because there was no semi-obvious joke to be made there or anything . . .

[OOC: I'm still using that OCD as a bookmark. *hugs book* Open, and despite all appearances to the contrary, guaranteed stab-free.]

Annja was in a thoughtful mood as she opened up Coyote Medicine for the day.

She had enjoyed her date on Friday and she was looking forward to spending time with him again.

Currently, though, she was straightening up some of the displays and dusting in the store.

Vida had totes spaced on posting the flower shop on Monday discovered the Perk and was partaking of the delightful flavored coffees offered therein. She treated herself to a pastry, but only a small one. A lady had to watch her figure, after all.

It was his first day back to work in... well, in months, and Nathan had to remind himself when he set foot in the Wellspring today that his job was simply to keep an eye on the place, to make sure nothing got away from him while he wasn't looking.

It wasn't that the guns made him uneasy or anything. Not by a long shot, no. It was more that if he'd actually been expected to make sales here, he would have had to come in with a letter of resignation. He was very much an advocate for seeing weapons in the hands of responsible persons only, lately.

He was also going to see how much work he could get done today without actually getting out of the chair he was sitting in.

[Wellspring is open!]

After she'd straightened things up, Tara spent her morning shift in the shop today reviewing the California driver's manual she got before she passed her learner's permit test. She didn't think Ziva's final would be exactly the same, but she wanted to pass it well if she could. It wasn't so long until she'd be sixteen.

... which was its own kind of problem, given what might start to happen then, but she'd worry about that in October.

The Magic Box was open.

[Open shop. OCD got pulled over for illegal passing.]

Dinah was fairly subdued today, after the spa trip yesterday. Pretty toes and fingernails don't make up for screwing up. So she was looking at the catalogs and surfing the net for something to send Reno, something that would actually help. If he wanted it.

Gunther was driving Hoshi nuts today. He'd just signed up for Skype but he couldn't figure out how to use it, so he kept bringing his laptop to the front desk and pleading with Hoshi to help him. After the tenth time he interrupted Hoshi's studying, she had gone from annoyed to furious. "I'm not your personal tech support just because I'm from the future!" she grumbled.

To make sure she wasn't interrupted again, she waited until he went back to the kitchen and then went to hide in the laundry room down the hall. Hoshi figured that Gunther would never find her there since he seemed to be mortally allergic to folding.

Geoffrey being off trying to convince some of the actors to come back (mostly the ones who hadn't witnessed or heard about The Duel), he'd asked Sophie to start Rehearsal, and promised to be there before it got too far along.

"All right everyone! We open in a only few weeks!" Sophie smiled at those assembled. "Geoffrey will be here shortly. Let's get started without him, shall we?"

Lindsay was going through some of the more dull and dry security audits from some of Stark Industries more industrial plants. Nothing was more boring than trying to find security access left open when a minor employee was terminated.

Which would explain the very big yawns and the frequent tips to the coffee machine this morning.

Maron had been having hair difficulties this morning.

Which would be why she was a wee bit late and had a hood quite firmly pulled up over her hair. No, it wasn’t coming off, and she was totally sulking.

Ugh. Bad hair days were no fun.

Jennifer was actually prepared now, for being all big and green and having to work. A nice skirt suit with an elastic waist, in case it wore off. That's what she'd ordered last weekend, and she'd gotten in just in time for today's work. Which was good, since Fashion had sort of... set her off, again. Oopsies.

But hey, she thought she looked fabulous in class, and pretty damn awesome in her suit, too.

She wasn't sneaking looks at her reflection in her monitor as she worked. Nope. Not at all.

Today and next Thursday. Her last two work days before she was gone. She was really going to miss this place.

Still, she was looking forward to a little time home before she headed off to... wherever she ended up.

Her music definitely reflected her mood.

Millie was in a marvelous mood this morning. No reason that she could tell. Perhaps it was the sun and the unrelenting heat reminding her of home these days. Maybe it was that she was rereading the Millie books. Maybe it was that Proudfoot was looking so adorable curled up in the sunny window.

In any case, Millie was feeling wonderful and she hoped everyone who stopped by Book Haven would feel wonderful too.

It was Thursday, which meant it was time for another little slice of dada from your slightly creepy neighborhood angel, Castiel.

But, wait, today seemed to be slightly different! For one, there was a dark colored german shepherd at the pulpit with Castiel, barking at him whenever he seemed to be wandering off on some incomprehensible tangent. For another, Castiel actually had a bible in front of him. The King James Version. God help us all.

In which Castiel decides to tackle the sticky subject of 'knowing', via the Book of Genesis )

It was, all told, probably the closest he'd managed to get to a "real" sermon since he took over the church. The regular NPC attendants all seemed to appreciate it, at least.

Well, except that little old lady in the front. She'd been hoping for more porn.

Unlike the mun, Priestly actually got to the diner early this week, and immediately set himself up at one of the tables near the kitchen with a couple books on anarchy and anarchist theory, along with a notebook to jot down ideas for what club to not organize (hey, if he organized it, it wouldn't be anarchy, would it? Wait, now he was confused. . .). He was especially focused on trying to figure out if he could start an anarchist roller derby league without it being total chaos on roller skates.

On the other hand, chaos on roller skates sounded kind of fun. Also like a band name.

The kitchen staff was rather put out by Priestly's studious endeavor, and decided that if he was going to spend all his time reading about anarchy, they'd give him a lesson in it. They weren't going to take any orders from him, no. They'd cook whatever they wanted to for customers. What they thought the customers really needed.

Priestly would argue that they were falling into the trap of relating anarchy to totalitarianism, but he was too busy figuring out if Fandom Anarchy sounded better than Skate Chaos for the roller derby league name.

Today's specials:
Whatever the kitchen feels like, apparently.

Mina was turning into a java junkie, apparently. She nursed a large triple espresso in her hands, and fiddled with some papers. She was actually somewhat disturbed that she'd had no attempts at correspondence from her former employers. Perhaps they just disavowed her existence.

She hardly had any idea. But the today, at least, the lack of any contact with her past actually seemed bothersome.

[ooc: very very open]

Penelope settled behind the bar and kept busy by stacking glasses before making sure the counter top was clean. She didn't expect a busy Thursday evening, but one never knew. Better to have the place looking neat. And she was in a pretty great mood considering her workshops were over.

Caritas is open.

One day closer to the end.

And wow, that sounded emo. The realization of that was enough to make Eve start laughing as she moved around the gallery, going through her usual routine. She was really gonna miss this place, man. She'd worked here... she wanted to say a year and a half but the mun is made of fail, so just roll with it and it'd been one of the best parts of her life.

As she settled behind the reception desk with a cup of coffee, she was maybe not so secretly wondering if Sophie would mind her hiding in a closet and staying forever.

[The OCD is off being emo.]
