Arthur had avoided Merlin's... cooking... to the best of his ability over the week. It was now Thursday, and he was hopeful that the immediate danger had passed. Which was, clearly, an important reason to remind both Merlin's and his (for the sake of proxy) tastebuds that there was such a thing as food on this Earth that didn't.

Well.

Pine nuts.

That was all he'd say.

Chilly Boulder found its door shoved open with some dedication. "Here we are," he told Merlin.

It was possible he hadn't exactly elaborated on the details of their goal this time, either. At least he'd specified food?

[[ arthur is here for that guy, yes, but chilly boulder is open for all your ice cream needs ]]

There was no paperwork today and even phone calls to the station stopped and because she got to clock in time inside the station before patrol she was sitting in front of her desk, bored. She was also a little antsy because the call she was waiting for hadn't materialized.

Bored and with time to kill Reese decided to surf the net. She should have remembered there was a reason why she didn't have MySpace, Facebook or whatever social networking sites out there. She hated being social and she hated being social online even more.

She was looking through law enforcement forums and reading other cops bitch about their case loads. One particular post had her riled up enough to sign in and reply:

Hey, moron. At least you got a case.

Things went downhill from there.

Brennan supposed she should hold office hours one last time in case anyone wanted to check on their grades, but sitting in her now-cleaned office just made her impatient. She pinned a note to the door letting anyone who wanted her know where she'd be and took off for the coffee shop in town, where she, her laptop, and her large iced hazelnut coffee occupied a nice place in the window.

It had been, she reflected, a good summer. She'd finished a book that her editor loved (apparently writing the sex scenes during hormone week really helped her prose style), seen mutant alligators, met what she had to believe was a real angel, and had a couple not-bad date-like-things. She'd almost miss the place.

Her phone beeped with a text message. Booth. Check your email. We got a floater down in the Chesapeake. He'll be in the lab for you tonight.

That was one of the better welcome-home gifts she could imagine.

[OOC: Brennan's last post in Fandom and, thus, completely open.]

The temptation to use some of her desk time at the office was strong, but Turtle resisted, no small feat in the face of the fact that it wasn't like they had cases or anything and most of it was all research and reorganizing. Luckily, she enjoyed the research. If she didn't, there would probably be green glitter from making posters everywhere.

...Actually, Turtle was now half wondering what Miss Cabot might think of some new green glitter accents to the place. And she was also wondering if she could get an endorsement from her for the campaign.

The campaign, it seemed, was all she could really think about lately, as she worked and munched on some leftover Pop-Tarts from yesterday.

Eve was once again in a thoughtful mood as she opened the gallery. The good kind of thoughtful, though. The kind that had her mentally organizing stuff -- like that list of people she wanted to keep in contact with, that list of where exactly people were going after Fandom, that list of weird things that'd happened to her... yeah.

She was behind the desk with a coffee and was once again playing Oregon Trail on the computer. She'd stop if Sophie or anybody showed up, though. Really.

It's Friday, there must be a Hope at Turtle & Canary.

Today was honestly no different, except for the fact that for once she wasn't behind the counter reading a magazine. No, today she was behind the counter reading a book. What? There's a difference! Even if Apu didn't seem to think so.

Today's Squishy flavors: Boredom, Burning, Purple.

Harper found a new piece waiting for her when she arrived at work. She stared at it for a little while before a closer inspection revealed a coin slot. "Oh, it's a piggy bank!" she said, though she could think of better places to keep her money. She put a 50¢ price ticket on the skull piggy bank and put it out on the bargain rack.

Things Reborn was open!

"I hope everybody had a.. um. Relaxing Friday last week," said Francine, perched on a picnic table at the front of the main shelter.

"Since we're all back to normal...ish now, maybe it would be a good time to talk about what we can do to help when stuff like this happens, too. It's not all about invasions or supporting the troops, after all! Sometimes the island throws stuff at everybody that's hard to deal with."

After the morning chores were finished, Dani thought she'd take Bold out for some exercise. They hadn't gotten very far on their ride when a teal deer ran out in front of them. While Bold seemed to be the most sensible of horses, today he got spooked and dumped Dani rather unceremoniously on the ground.

If anyone was around The Gig when they got back, they would have seen Dani covered in dust and limping slightly as she led Bold back to the paddock.

Chloe had straightened all of the racks and was now behind the counter with a clipboard. Yes, she had been making a list of comic books that she might think about reading.

The fact that they were all something to do with the supernatural world was just a coincidence.

Really.

The last day of phys ed class had definitely left Valentine incredibly exhausted and sore and never, ever, ever wanting to do anything like that again, which, to her, just proved that the IF was right about one thing: she'd probably be too physically lazy to ever be a good soldier, although she might not have been so bad or adverse to it if she'd been training since she was five like most Battle School students would have been. Right now, though, twelve years after the fact, she was very definitely not a physical person.

She was, however, a cerebral type, and so giving the brain a nice little push off the edge was always welcome. There were plenty of options for that around here, too, but Valentine found the best ones to be in the form of crazy toys from Japan, which she brought out to proudly display and hopefully make people who came in uncomfortable. She had to admit, though, that the most interesting one to her wound up being the assumingly innocent Egg. Man, she'd never get over how completely innovative the Japanese were.

The perfect ending to the last day of classes, as far as Ben was concerned, was a giant ice cream sundae.

That this was also his solution to all days that ended in "y" was completely beside the point.

After his last class, he made a beeline toward the ice cream shoppe and waited for Tahiri to join him.

Yeah. Work. Ray could do work. Sheriff work. Yep.

Ray was sitting in his chair in his office, staring at the mountain of paperwork and trying not to show off the fact he had lead in his shoes. "Right," he muttered, and took a sheet.

Then put it down on his desk.

Went over it. Filled it in. Signed it, stamped it. Done.

Only eleventymillion left to go.

Veronica was packed and ready to go. Her portal was booked for early tomorrow morning and now she had nothing to do until it was time to leave.

So she headed over to the Perk for some coffee. Caffeine was never a bad thing.

Far too restless for a Saturday morning, Haley opened up shop earlier than usual. She wasn't sure what was making her past out and wake up early, but part of her thought it might be stress; you know, like her mind was all mixed up.

She wasn't stressed about Fandom as much as the fact that another school year was starting and she still didn't feel like going. Haley was never a very enthusiastic scholar to begin with, but with pretty generous scholarship offers all over the place and Burt telling her she didn't have any reason not to go, it was tough.

Sitting behind the counter, she was a bit reclusive, Blind Faith on the speakers being her only real comfort for the moment.

A note card left under the door of Room 511 told Kyle that there was a letter waiting for him at the post office that he needed to claim in person. It had taken him all of a minute to realize that the letter could only come from someone who knew he was here, which meant someone from home.

He tore out of the room at a sprint, returning only when he realized that a shirt was probably a good idea. Then he made his way hastily down to the post office, made sure it wasn't a trap, and then signed for the letter with a barely legible scribble of his name.

The postal worker handed over a crumpled envelope that looked like it had been through Hell and worse on its way here. He stepped outside and looked at the envelope, carefully trying to read what it said.

Kyle Reese (DN38416)
Fandom High School
Fandom, MD
United States of America
2009

He carefully opened the envelope, trying not to tear the contents. Kyle's heart sank when he saw the pages of writing. There was no way he'd be able to read this on his own. Frowning, he put the letter back in the envelope and the envelope in his pants pocket. He needed to think about who he could trust with this. Maybe he needed to go for a run.
