Sov and Tony's radio-building over the weekend had inspired William to attempt a bit of building of his own.

Not of a radio, although the idea was fascinating, and perhaps he would try it someday...

But today, at least, he was far more interested in creating workable versions of technologies from this time using technology and parts that existed back in his own. And so today he was drawing up a list of ideas, and what materials he would need to accomplish them.

Today, Ino had decided that she was going to spend it reading.

It was a pretty idea in theory, but too bad she kept drifting off into her thoughts again and again.

And underneath that, she was starting to get pissed off at herself. Pull it together, she thought savagely, turning the pages in her book with unnecessary force.

Ugh.

Cally began today's shift at the apartment lobby counter by... dusting the place. Yes, she'd been a bit lax about coming in lately, which was a problem. She'd been enjoying the holidays (even if they weren't her holidays) with her son, and just had gotten out of the habit.

After the structured life on the Galactica, making her own rules had turned out a bit dangerous. One thing she didn't enjoy: all this bloody snow. The bleakness of it all reminded her of New Caprica. Those weren't memories she particularly liked.

When she glanced at the calendar after sitting down, she realized she'd missed a certain exgirlfriend's birthday.

She decidedly that she should probably call.

First, though, she spent her time at the counter today trying to think up excuses for why she hadn't called on the actual day.

Things Reborn; Wednesday [ 01/12 ].

Alexander was having a very productive day, he felt, organizing some of the old paintings in the shop by category and type, but that project had ended quickly once he came across one particular atrocity.

An atrocity that was now facing the wrong way, just so Alexander didn't have to look at it.

It must be nice, he mused to himself, for people who lived their lives thinking cats were actually cute and fluffy and not harbingers of pure, unadulterated evil.

Turtle & Canary, Wednesday

So, there was a HankCo. sign at T&C again today, but this time it was very small and sitting on the counter, listing all of the things (notary public, private investigator, puppet repair, etc.) that HankCo. could offer but weren't a part of the usual Turtle & Canary experience. In front of the sign was a small stack of business cards. Because Hank was an entrepreneur!

Hank had also discovered the small menagerie in the store and was trying to get Turtle to make friends with the panda. "Say hello! Can you say hello? Wave to the pretty panda! Wave! ...OW!!! Stupid turtle!!!"

Remember, kids: Just because a reptile isn't specifically a snapping turtle doesn't mean it doesn't still bite.

"Are chunky bracelets still in?" she asked no one in particular, as the shop was currently empty. "I don't think they are." To find the answer, she turned to the stack of fashion mags on the counter and began to thumb through them.

"Toe rings! I needs them!"

Luke's Diner, Wednesday [1/12]

The first thing Lion-o accomplished today was mopping the floor before the diner opened. He was sure Snarf would have approved at how the clean floor sparkled when he was done. But after his first trip to the kitchen, he returned to find that the busboy tracked muddy footprints all over his clean floor.

That might explain why Lion-o and the busboy were glaring at each other with the kitchen staff taking bets on which one would end up mopping the floor again.

Groovy Tunes, Wednesday [1/12]

Lindsay was pretty excited about her new job. There was a good reason for that. She was getting paid to listen to music and try to sell it to other people. Of course, she didn't tell her parents about this, yet. She wasn't in the mood to listen to a lecture from her dad about how rock and roll was going to rot her brain or something. She rolled her eyes just thinking about it.

For her first day, she chose a Bon Jovi greatest hits compilation. Ever since she was introduced to them the other day, she wanted to hear more. She wasn't really surprised that she liked what she heard.

Caritas | Wednesday

When Alex got into work that night, he ordered Tino to peel off and replace the labels on about twenty different bottles of booze. When Tino wanted to know why, Alex explained to him just exactly how a prank work. Tino still hedged before Alex smacked him in the back of his head and told him to get to work.

It was comical watching Tino try to peel and replace labels without ripping them. The duct tape to keep them on their new bottles was a nice touch.

The Perk, Wednesday Afternoon

After seeing Kerrigan, River saw no reason not take a tour around the town. Or rather, she headed for a specific place.

It might be a human weakness, but apple pie tasted good. And she hadn't had it in a long time.

River picked a table by the window and ordered a cup of coffee - the second cup today - and two pieces of pie. If the staff were surprised at seeing a small, rather skinny girl devour bakery goods like that they didn't show it.
