The first Parents' Weekend to be held in the spring was starting out a lot like the one that had been held in the fall - namely overcast, with a threat of rain.

So, the tents were back out around the park, to protect the people of Fandom and their guests from any unwanted precipitation. There were tables of food and drinks with a little something for everyone, thanks to the Student Council. There were also blue and gold decorated tables and chairs, to give everyone a place to sit down, chat, catch up with each other, or just relax.

The registration table near the front had nametags for everyone, and a banner to welcome everyone to the first Parents' Weekend of 2011.

The nice thing about holding school events at the park was that when tents needed to be set up, they could be spread throughout the park. There were more tables of food and drinks over here, as well as more places to sit and mingle, in case the other post tables became crowded.

The registration table near the front had nametags for everyone, and a banner to welcome everyone to the first Parents' Weekend of 2011!

Ben wasn't very upset that he had to work through the welcome picnic: no one was coming to see him and he wasn't anxious to intrude upon family meetings.

Besides, in the quiet he had a chance to catch up on some more of the audio Dink had sent him. Because he felt guilty about listening at all, it was taking him some time to get through them. He turned the audio down low on his laptop and began to listen:

Cut for extensive Orson Scott Card thinking he's clever-ness )

Fixer-Uppers was open and feeling quite sneaky.

[OOC: And I'm about to get into the car for a road trip to Ohio, so yay for Slowplay!]

After meeting up with Silas at the meet and greet, Bod had explained that he had a shift at the diner and Silas, pleased that he was working, had let him go. Bod knew Silas could occupy himself for long periods of time so he didn't feel bad. He would have felt worse if he'd missed work.

Giving the cooking staff a grin as he entered, he slipped his apron over his head and got to work getting everything set up to open.

It was unusual for Mary to be racing around the lobby in a jogging suit as she supervised preparations. That was the only piece of clothing available when she transformed back into her own body after spending a few days as a clumsy bird. At least she nearly back to normal for check-in time, though she randomly felt the urge to chirp.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!

Jenny was...well, Jenny, so she counted remembering to open the store only after attending Apathy Club as a win. It was open, wasn't it? If you'd come by earlier and been disappointed to see that it was closed, well, that wasn't her problem.

The sign in the window said:

BUY SOME NEW CLOTHES
SO YOUR PARENTS WON'T RECOGNIZE YOU
(Or to make yourself more presentable, whatever, etc. etc.)

Pixie Dust was late, but open.

Apperently the musical theme for Fridays was something called 'techno'. Of the Eastern European variety.

Fifteen minutes into her first shift, she was busy wondering how much alcohol it would take for that to sound like music. Sadly it wasn't an option as she didn't have enough money to buy all the bottles behind the bar.

The Devil's Nest was open and horrified.

Jessica was behind the bar, practicing mixing drinks so she could try to prove to Eric she didn't need to be 21 to tend bar at the Devil's Nest. Stupid rules. She was working her way through the Vampire, Vampire Juice, Vampire's Kiss, Blood of Satan, Bloody Passion, and...Viking Blood.

Eric probably wouldn't be as amused as she was.
