William was using a computer in the shop today to research, well, computers. Comparing reviews of different components and pondering the merits of ordering one pre-made versus getting one custom ordered. He was awfully tempted to just order the individual components and attempt assembly himself. That idea was quickly dismissed, however- he was fairly confident he could manage the hardware, but the software was a different manner.

The store, today, seemed to be overflowing with apples. Which William would probably find more amusing if he'd paid more attention to the debate versus Mac and PC.

Alexander knew that, for the most part, all the antiques and other items in the shop were of a relatively normal nature. The mirrors were not typically magical; there was nothing endless about the chests and there were no secret worlds somewhere behind the wardrobes or inside the cupboards.

However, on occasion, he wondered if perhaps a few magical items did slip through the radar to hang among the other items for sale. It was the kind of shop, he felt, that would breed magical things. Or perhaps it was just his own magic influencing the things. The cat statues were a constant (and terrifying!) reminder of that. And today, there was the...

Well, he didn't know how to describe it. At first, it seemed harmless. A funny little springtime bunny statue with a space in the face for perhaps photos. It was a very strange concept to begin with, but then Alexander started to realize that every time he looked at it, the face had changed. He thought perhaps it was a trick of his eyes, but, with a few more glances, he could tell that something was definitely up...

...but at least it hadn't turned into a cat.

Yet.

Kate had been keeping a low profile since coming back from Kansas Monday evening. She had the feeling she would've only been having the same conversations over and over with people. No thanks. Besides, she'd had her hands full with random wedding crap and looking online for apartments. (They'd been to see a few places on Sunday and Monday, but they hadn't been perfect.) And she was supposed to find the adress of a woman called Mimi Parmiter for her mother so she could find out how this random lady factored into her past.

In fact, that was what she was doing at work today. She'd put the laptop aside if anyone came in, but until then she'd be all about doing a little bit of people-tracking. And she wouldn't even be watching the movie playing today, because she'd already snuck in once and gotten the creeps from a few of the characters for no real reason. Best not to try again.

As was wont to happen on Wednesdays, MST3000 was indeed open!

Hank was behind the counter at Turtle & Canary today, and he had his little HankCo. sign and business cards out listing all of HankCo.'s many services (notary public, private investigator, puppet repair, etc.) that went over and above the usual T&C experience.

Just like he was last week, and the week before. Shush. Nobody forgot. I don't know what you're talking about.

In the cheese aisle, the panda was running a blind taste test of different brands of mozzarella. Hank had taken Turtle the turtle and Jane the canary over earlier so they could all have a go at it, but all three of them failed the test and got drop-kicked across the store.

Apu, being smarter than Hank, wasn't going anywhere near that aisle today.

As soon as Nathan walked into the bar, he knew Tino was not going to be the entertaining bloke that he usually was. For one, he was crying pitifully over a glass of milk and for two...he was wearing culottes. Yeah, Nathan was not going to fucking ask. Instead, he left Tino alone, proving that he could have some sympathy.

Instead, he grabbed a bottle of whiskey, grabbed a glass and poured himself a drink while plucking his phone out of his pocket. And now it was time to text message people at random. Most of the time, he closed his eyes and picked a contact at random before sending a ridiculous message but sometimes, he chose the recipient on purpose.

Hopefully nothing incriminating would get to the wrong person. If it did, well, oh well.

[Feel free to mod getting a text message from Nathan if you'd like and feel free to mod the content as well. He has no shame and I'm easy.]

"Hi," Dolf started off, smoothly. "We have talked with you about communication before, but it's still a very important thing. Where I used to be, we had no phones or walkie-talkies or anything, but we still needed to make sure that everyone got the right messages. In a crisis, that can be really tough, but it's pretty much the most important thing you can do. If something happens to us, for example, we should all remember to talk to the same people so we know where everyone is. The question is... how do we do that?"

"We could have something like a phone tree," Tara said. "Only, y'know, without the phone part. But if we all know who we're supposed to check in with, it can be more efficient. Or signs. Signs telling people where to meet and check-in sheets can help, if everybody is coming back to the dorms at night. If we aren't all coming back to the dorms, we'd need to figure out a central space."

"The clinic may be a good place, or town hall, if we are not using the dorms," Raven agreed. "But it is important to keep in touch with one another so that we know if someone is missing and may require help, or to ensure that necessary tasks are taken care of in case of an emergency. And it is easier to plan this now, when there is no emergency, than to wait until, as they say, all hell is breaking loose."

The Arcerian kitten in her arms yawned in her own agreement, then resumed pawing at Raven's hair.

"So we will be talking about that, if you have any suggestions," Dolf continued, brightly, "And we will play charades, because it might be good practice if we can't use other ways to communicate."

Wednesday night meant Jessica was manning (or vampiring) the door. She was bouncing around on her stool to the tune the DJ was currently playing. It sounded really silly, she had no idea what it was, but it was kind of catchy. She'd be humming along in a second.

So maybe America's Next Top Model had lost something over the years. That intangible quality that made it so much fun as it tumbled into a formulaic cesspool of Tyra Banks' ego.

But that didn't mean it wasn't still fun to watch and mock. Mostly mock.

So, Deadpool took full advantage of the community center that he'd actually forgot existed and set up a viewing of the show. Oh yeah, this was just what he needed. Socialization forced upon people with the lure of bitchy, bitchy models.

"Ooo, this one has a catfight," he informed a slightly bored Jan as she colored what appeared to be a rainbow with a very crude drawing of the dog back at Wellspring Arms. "Not that it's very different from normal, I know."
