It was a quiet day in the lobby of MHA. Dief, as usual, was curled up near the door, sleeping soundly. Fraser sometimes envied his ability to be as lazy as he was and not worry about things that needed to be done.

Fraser was behind the desk, absently writing a few things down in some files while he read over a textbook on tenant rights. Being a landlord was not always an easy thing and he wanted to make sure he knew all the intricacies of what he was doing now.

"Nana, don't eat that."

It had become so ingrained a statement that Cally didn't immediately look up to check what she'd just told the dog not to eat; she assumed it was a gremlin, since they seemed to delight in hanging about the shop and playing pranks. (Without, for some reason, trying to bite her; perhaps because her blood was alien?)

"Whuff!"

"What?" Now she looked up. "I told you they'd eventually try to bite ba--"

Cally sighed.

"Fine. Eat it. Just don't throw it up on my boots later on."

Mercy had finally decided that this was a great opportunity to make her first shift since she'd left Montana months ago. She waited till dusk, then crossed over the causeway and hiked along until she found a nice secluded area. She stripped down, tucked her clothes into her pack and hid it under a handy tree, then shifted. As always it was a quick, easy, almost instantaneous change. She stretched happily, reached up a paw to scratch her ear to get out the last tingles from the change, and headed off into the countryside.

Cut for her travels and some minor violence... )

Well, she'd just muddle through the best she could.

Mercy took a deep breath and started across, limping and cursing under her breath as she went.

[ooc: For one who knows who she is and up early for great SP justice.]

With Eric nowhere to be found, Jack was forced to take the class into his own (fairly filthy) hands. "Good evening, me hearties!" he said. "Today, we begin what I believe t' be the most important part of long term investment strategy--the making of a proper treasure map. What, I ask, is the use of making all of this money if ye can't find it again after burying it ten paces past a palm tree that then falls down in a hurricane? Ye need a proper back-up system, says I."

No, he had not thought of using a bank.

He handed out maps of the island. "Here's a good starting place," he said, "though the Isle of Ikea seems t' be sticking around as well. I wouldn't recommend burying anything over in yonder town. Find five places you think seem like good places t' hide things and I'll tell you if you're right."

Chances were, he already had something tucked away in most of the likely locations. "Next week, we'll go on a treasure hunt!"

Alex thought he was getting pretty good at this 'employee' thing. Both weeks that he'd had thumbs so far he'd totally shown up! That was good, right? Especially for a thirteen-year-old.

He wondered if he was allowed to use the shooting range, or if it was just for "adults." Cable was such a buzzkill sometimes.

It was Junior Postman Butters' first day on the job, and boy was he excited! He didn't a hat, as he was hoping, but there was a pretty easy solution to that. He just simply made his own, decorated it with stamps, and plopped it on his head. "Okay, mail!" he said to the bag that awaited being sorted, "let's get you going to the right places. Boy, I sure hope someone comes to pick theirs up, so I can get it for him. Oh, boy! A real junior post man!"

It made this totally the best day ever!

"Hello?"

Sov had found some kind of recording device. It didn't work quite as well as it should to be actually useful, as the sound occasionally disappeared, but that didn't discourage Sov. Instead they used it to record an improvised radio show involving interviews with odd things on the shelves. Unfortunately the interviewees remained silent.

Jack would never explain why he was late opening the law offices today.

It was embarrassing to get locked in your own hotel room bathroom, especially if you were supposed to be a detective. In his defense, the room wasn't exactly stocked with lock picking equipment.

Ah, well. He'd amused the maid who eventually came to his rescue. He shook off his discomfort and settled in to work.

[OOC: I was not locked in my bathroom, no. I'm just an airhead. Open, OCD-free, and very late post!]
