Kate had been away for an entire week, repressing the hell out of the reasons she'd wanted to bolt in the first place. And it had worked. She'd genuinely had fun just hanging out with Bod and her family and unpacking and organizing their room and all the other silly stuff.

But however good she'd felt while away, it all dissolved soon enough once she'd made it to work. She felt on edge, not quite as badly as she had for most of her shift last week, but still twitchy enough to be constantly fiddling with some of the concessions (as if they weren't neat enough) or playing around on her phone (as if she was actually planning to text or call anyone).

Occasionally sneaking in to watch the movie on show today soothed her somewhat, though she had no real idea why. Lord knows a summer blockbuster wasn't meant to do that, but she wasn't going to question it. She'd take anything she could get.

Lion-o knew things had to change with the new ownership of the diner, but he still caught off-guard to see the new walk-in fridge. For today, he'd stick with cooking with ingredients he regularly used, but he was looking forward to seeing just how far back that fridge went.

Nathan didn't care about being in a proverbial paradise, he was still gonna stomp into work, pissy as hell for no good reason. Okay, maybe he had a few reasons but they were stupid and they shouldn't have been bothering him. They were.

Tino kept his distance because sometimes Tino wasn't a completely fucking moron but Nathan made Tino listen to his bitchiness on American pot dealers versus British pot dealers and how much easier it was to get shit in England than it was here because there was like a cop on every corner, holding his yank and waiting for some fuck up to come along.

Nathan bitched and moaned for awhile about that and didn't even notice it when Tino started drinking and drinking and drinking. Tino would be one drunk bartender soon.
